I have yet to have a bad experience here and hope it stays that way while I'm in the area. All vet care isn't good care, but this office has provided quality care for us. Janet Wood, a vet tech, is rude and arrogant. Dr. Allison makes snap diagnoses based upon no evidence. Unprofessional people. Additionally, Dr. Allison did not engage with my dogs. She sat stony faced. She saw my dogs for maybe 5 min each and charged me $79 for each 5 min "examination". Rip off. Dr. Tate replied to my review and lied. She has never seen or treated either of my dogs. She has not asked me questions about them. I complained about Dr. Woods' wife, who is rude and arrogant, and this is retaliation. I have been taking my dog here since she was a puppy back in 2020. They have always taken such great care of her throughout the years. My only complaint is I have to drive down 280 from downtown to get there, but it is still worth it!! I recommended the clinic for a friend to take her 4 year old dog to be fixed because I trusted this clinic to do a great job, and they did amazing with her dog as well. I have been a client of Riverview for more than 25 years, with three dogs and a cat. I have worked with every vet and vet tech and cannot say enough about how wonderful the care has been we have received. From puppy to passing, this clinic has done everything they can to treat us and our pets with the utmost respect and care. And not just one single doctor, but we have seen Dr. Tate, Dr. Wood, Dr. LeBlanc, Dr. Dodgen, Dr. Campbell and most recently Dr. Ball. I wouldn't hesitate to have any one of them work with us and our furry babies. Their app makes it super easy to make appointments, order meds and even chat with the clinic to work out plans for boarding, questions and just about anything that I become concerned about. We've dealt with being attacked by other dogs, wild animals, Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever from a tick bite and even rat poison ingestion. And each and every time I knew that Fisher, Bailey, Garfield and Maggie would have the best chance at any recovery in the hands of Riverview. And if not, their compassion (especially when it was time for our two 18 year old Springers to cross the rainbow bridge) was beyond what I could ask for. I really hated to have to leave this review., but after many attempts trying to resolve an issue ( calls and letters to this office ) for grossly over charging our young adult son ( $600 ) for an overnight stay for a chameLeon that did not survive we felt was very wrong . I feel they took advantage of a young adult ( college student) at a time when he was emotional and put on the spot to pay a ridiculous amount of money for an over night stay . when he was told the amount to pay , the only thing he knew to do was clean out his saving t pay this bill .To take advantage of a college student this way is absolutely unethical practice. He had a stomach issue late in the week and they treated him for it which they ask you if they can do when you drop off. What I have to say about this clinic is on no part of Dr. Campbell, who was extremely professional and compassionate during our first experience here. However, I have extreme issues with the communication skills and lack of compassion coming from the manager whose name was Allison, and the front-desk staff. I brought my cat here on August 1st for an EKG as he was very sick. They found a blood clot and our cat was not get better, so my partner and I had to make the hard decision to put our cat down. We also decided to pursue afterlife services through the vet, as they did cremations with a third party. We were told that we would get a call/text when he could be picked up. We called to check up on our cats remains on August 8th, which was almost a full week later. We wanted to see about how much longer they might take. We were told by the front desk staff that he was not back yet from the third party, but would be sometime that week and said they would give us a call and text sometime that week to let us know. This would be their second time saying they would call/text us which would never happen. We called again today, August 14th, now 2 weeks since our cat was put down at Riverview Animal Clinic. We decided to call again since we were told we'd get a call the week before, and because we were told it would only take about a week for him to be ready. We then heard that he arrived back to the clinic and was ready last Monday, August 7th. I was told that they tried to call me, but couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. Meanwhile, I called this clinic on August 8th and was told he was not ready meanwhile he had already been there a FULL DAY. I was only able to pick up my cats remains today after calling them to check, they never had ANY intention of trying to reach me again. I am absolutely disgusted with how this situation was handled and at the thought of my cats remains being left there with a staff who does not care enough to even communicate with their clients. The trust that I had for this clinic was immediately broken after I was told he had been there for a whole week. When I explained what happened to the manager, she said she did not have a solution for me, and was only able to take $100 off the outrageous bill. She didn't even OFFER this discount, I had to ask for it. I have never witnessed such attitude and lack of compassion from a manager of an establishment, and will never recommend that anybody go here for afterlife services. Do not go to Riverview Animal Clinic if you are looking for attentive, good with communication, and compassionate staff. You will not find that here. I thought we would bring our other two pets here, and that was ruined by the irresponsibility that was shown to me here. read more

We made an appointment (a few minutes late) and as soon as we showed up we were shown a room. Within about 3 minutes we were checked in by the tech and off the process started. We evacuated from NOLA because of the hurricane and are headed to Miami to stay with my brother until we have everything squared away. We booked an appointment for our dog because he gets super car sick and we wanted him to be comfortable on our long ride. The office is amazing and they were super quick! Dr. Williams and the tech (sorry I didn't catch her name!!) we're AMAZING. They examined our dog and cut his nails for us and did some cool humming trick so our dog was comfortable. the doctor also threw some treats on the ground to satisfy our other dog and offered to cut her nails too! They gave us the medicine, extra flea and heart worm and some toys for them just in case they didn't have any (we didn't have any because we were in a rush). You can not ask for a more attentive group of individuals that come together to work as an all-star team. We have been using Riverview Animal Clinic for about 15 years, for our 5 dogs and one cat. I would not hesitate having any of the veterinarians take care of our pups, and we have seen all of them. We do have our special one! One of our pups was diagnosed with lymphoma after extensive testing at Miss. State. It was a death sentence giving us maybe 6 months to live, that was over a year ago. After chemo and being treated at Riverview, and her cancer being in remission after the first month of treatment, you would have never known, or know, she was ever sick. My wife and I have thought about moving out of town from time to time, but always come back to "we can't move because of our special vet, talking about the tail wagging our lives!! We are so grateful for the care our pets have received from Riverview. I am so thankful that Dr. Tate made the bold move to buy the practice and keep it locally owned as opposed to being corporate owned like 99% of the vet clinics have done (take the money and run). The negative comments are mind boggling, but sounds like a pattern for anger and from those that didn't get the special treatment they think they are entitled to, or from those who feel the world evolves around them. EXTREMELY DISRESPECTFUL!! I took my little fur babies here a few years back. Today I received a call from a debt collector saying I had an outstanding bill. I have never in my life not paid something on time. I immediately called to get this clarified for me as well as a possible solution. I spoke with Carol in financial department. She was extremely rude and unprofessional her solution to this was for me to start double checking to make sure when I pay for something to double check my credit card bill to make sure they charged me. She couldn't even provide me the information to the debt collector she sent the bill to. They also had the wrong phone number on file so she proceeded to tell me that it was my fault that someone else entered in incorrectly. I've never have taken the time to write a bad review but the way she handed this was disrespectful and completely distasteful. If I were you I wouldn't even step foot near this place or you might end up like me having a debt collector call you 2 years later saying you didn't pay a vet bill. read more

Do not use this clinic!!! My wife took our 11 year old cat in on Wednesday and picked it up on the following Tuesday. They charged $2557 for the stay with a diagnosis of diabetes. I complained about the excessive bill and was told they would send us our records and to find a new vet. I found Riverview Animal Clinic and brought my lizard in on that Sunday and left him there so they could take care of him. Dr. Campbell took great care of my baby. He had to amputate more of the tail, but it has been almost a year and until a week ago he was doing fine. Sadly, I have to take him in again on a different health issue. He will see Dr. Atlas. Riverview's Dr. Campbell messed up when signing my animal's health certificates to travel. My cats are no longer flying on their booked dates, costing hundreds to reschedule. I will also have to reschedule my flight. I paid $216 to have these papers signed and that couldn't even be done properly. I made to drive 40 minutes to to talk to someone as soon as I heard about the error since no one would answer the phone. They nearly declined me because I didn't have my cats with me. I now have to send these papers myself when they are responsible for sending them off, I never once got an apology. Apparently "We don't do this very often" is a good enough excuse for ruining literally everything booked. read more

Recently our baby girl Annie was having multiple issues and we found Riverviewanimalclinic and Dr Tate and the Riverview Staff they were fantastic in trying help us to get our little cat well but to no avail we lost her to her multiple illnesses. - the front desk personnel as well as the assistants and interns are friendly and sympathetic and welcoming. Dr Wood has also been very helpful in assisting with Annie's diagnosis and treatment. They have treated Annie like she is a human and have been very informative and communicative as well as very interactive during our visits - during one Dr Tate pulled me back from the room so I could see Annie's X-rays and discuss next steps which in our case led to an ultrasound. During the ultrasound they had me come in and be a part of the procedure and during the procedure Dr Wood explained what he was seeing. Riverviewanimalclinic is the best veterinary clinic I have ever had interactions with - we had to euthanize our baby and afterward when I stopped at front desk to pay our bill they said don't worry about it now we will send you bill at a later date- when we received our bill we also received a package from Riverviewanimalclinic and inside was a plaster paw print - a fantastic and thoughtful surprise - made me and my wife cry but very glad we got it. We take both of our boys (kitties) to Riverview. I can't express enough my appreciation for Dr Cox and the rest of the staff there. We got our boys from Momakat Rescue 2 and 3 years ago. They have the rescues taken care of at Riverview and we kept going there. We loved our previous veterinarians, but as awesome as the doctors are, the facility just wasn't. Riverview's facility has separate entrances for the dogs and cats. When we take our boys to the exam room, we do not see or hear the dogs. The facility is very clean, smells and all. It's literally refreshing to walk into a clinic and not smell wet dog and scented candles. Riverview Animal Clinic got it right. We wouldn't take our boys anywhere else. read more

I was so nervous about finding a new vet when I moved to the Birmingham area, but Dr. Tate as Riverview Animal Clinic immediately put me at ease. She's extremely competent and intelligent, and she really listens to her clients and cares. She is extremely responsive anytime I contact her with a question, and she never acts like I'm overreacting or being stupid. Every suggestion she has made for my dog has been successful and has helped us take big steps forward with his quality of life. As for the clinic as a whole, the techs are all very nice and competent as well. The receptionists are very nice and are very helpful when scheduling appointments. I ordered Heart Guard medication from 1800PetMeds on 12/18/2018 and instructed them to contact Riverview for the prescription. A week later, I received a call from 1800PetMeds stating Riverview was refusing to send them the script. I called Riverview and was told they don't do business with PetMeds because sometimes the medications are not made in the USA. The person at Riverview then told me I could use their medication service which would be more convenient and almost as inexpensive. Not quite. PetMeds was still $20 less. Riverview said they would email me the script so that I could send it to PetMeds. A week and a half later on 01/04/2019, I called Riverview to find out where the script was that they promised to email me. The woman at Riverview said they probably didn't send the script to me because my dog would be due for blood work in February. REALLY??? I asked why I wasn't told that in December when they promised to email the script to me and was asked who I talked to. How should I know? She did say that if I would come in now, she'll sell me one pill for $14 (that's twice what PetMeds charges). Extremely poor communication; overcharge for medication.
