But wow, it seemed like I caught ever single red light in this city. And it's a big city - the fourth largest outside Indianapolis. Lots of crappy roads here too including one bump that was so hard, it knocked my coffee cup out of the cupholder. Yowza! I should have circled back to take a picture. Bloomington will be the birthplace of Captain Janeway (Star Trek) in a century or two. And for now, it's the home of Indiana University. Lots of crimson all around on the university students. Hoosiers, named after the Native American term for corn. Or so some would believe. Janko's Little Zagreb for a spendy steak. Aver's Pizza (there are at least two locations). The Sinkhole for craft beers. Enjoy yourself and keep an eye on your parking meter. They are everywhere! [Review 20643 overall - 153 in Indiana - 1624 of 2023.]

Referred to as "the City" by locals surrounding Montgomery County, Crawfordsville is definitely the biggest town in the county. With a population of around 15,000 that should tell you that Cville really isnt that big at all. However, plenty of small businesses have popped up along with some major industry that gives the town life. I would still estimate that most of Crawfordsvilles residents commute to other cities like Lafayette or Indianapolis for work, which both are not that far. This is what makes this town so appealing because it has a great location. The perfect little sleeper town that allows for a great setting to raise a family without the hustle and bustle of the big city. For those of you looking to move here with intentions of starting a family, there are several elementary and middle schools for younger children along with three high schools in the county to choose from. College-wise, there isnt much to choose from; however, Crawfordsville is home to Wabash College, a very prestigious all male college that is nestled right in the center of town. There is also a branch of Ivy Tech Community College in town but the classes are limited offering a small selection. As far as entertainment goes, Cville really doesnt have a whole lot to offer other than a movie theatre, live theatre, and a bowling alley along with various restaurants and nightlife establishments. Trust me it does get boring here fast but during the summer there are plenty of activities to do in the local area. There is Milligan Park which has disc golf course, a pool and baseball diamonds for public use, Sugar Creek runs right along the edge of town, the municipal golf course, and several camp grounds. You just need to look a bit harder and become a little inventive when it comes to finding fun things to do but if not, then like I said before, Lafayette and Indy arent too far away. Crawfordsville is a good community that looks after their own. If you are looking to live in a place where you can meet nice and dependable people to surround you as neighbors then I would suggest this place. It is truly the Athens of Indiana.

This piece, Our River - Our Future, was dedicated in 2019 and created by acclaimed artist DeeDee Morrison. Our River - Our Future is located at the east entrance of the College of Health and Human Services Building, a location symbolizing the link between the arts, health, and sciences. The circular laser cut patterns are designed to represent single cell organisms. Diatoms specific to the nearby Wabash River inspired the patterns laser-cut into the steel circular patterns. The sculpture's overall shape simulates the Wabash River's meandering presence. During the day, sunlight shines through the laser cut patterns and creates dancing shadows on the ground. At night, the sculpture has choreographed LED lighting designed to simulate a river current flowing. Morrison is known for creating solar powered and LED sculptures and has worked with libraries, schools, parks, cities, and municipalities nationwide. Deedee Morrison is a nationally known public artist working at the forefront of designing solar powered and LED sculptures to communicate public priorities and vision. She has maintained a professional studio practice for over 15 years and has worked with libraries, schools, parks, cities and municipalities throughout the United States. The sculpture is 15'4" high and 6'4" wide. What I really love about ISU's art pieces is how so many of them are just as dazzling at night as they are during the day. There's been much thought put into them and they truly complement the campus and their specific locations.

The towering sculpture (over 14") has a frame with pastel colored discs that are based upon the microscopic single celled organisms called Diatoms that exist in both the river and inside humans. Health of these diatoms are used in determining health in both. The artist worked with the ISU Department of Earth and Environmental Systems to pick the organisms that relate to the river. This is another of the ArtSpace sculptures that can be found throughout Terre Haute. Review #2694

It was part of the city's Community Master Art Plan. His other work that was part of the project is titled "Straight-On Monon" and is located at 116th Street and Municipal Drive. I like this piece. It is very colorful and has a lot going on. It covers the entire signal box. It is based off of a French card game that goes by the same name as the mural, Miles Bournes, which translates to 1000 miles. The pictures on the mural are taken from the actually cards from the game. I checked it myself. You can get the game from Amazon if you are interested. One side of the mural depicts an upside down green traffic light (ironic it is on a signal box huh), with a large green circle, with the French word roulez, which means roll, over it. The number 100 is on there 3 times, one of them being on what looks like a garage with a red roof. The other side has an upside down red traffic light with a large red circle and the word "stop" over the circle. The number 50 is also on that side painted on what looks like a garage with a red roof. One side of the box has a upside down green car and a red blown tire with the French "creve" above it, which translates to dog-tired, There are also blue tire treads in the background. The opposite side has a blue tire with what looks like red spikes attempting to puncture it in 2 places and the words "increvable", which is French for puncture proof, above and below it. Like I said previously, there is a lot going on. This piece is somewhat easy to find. But don't worry, if you are having a difficult time finding it, just look for the nearest traffic light. All signal boxes, painted with murals or not, are near traffic lights. It is right in front of Blaze Pizza. As is the case with most murals that I review, this is probably not a very long stop. I was there less than 3 minutes. It is probably best to plan out additional stops at many of the other wonderful murals in the area, including the other signal box murals, to maximize your trip
