My grandson hit a parked car on Father's Day due to sun glare in Verona Nj . His grandfather had just been rushed to the hospital. It was his aunts van. It needed to be towed so Roach's towing was sent to tow it to Montclair. I asked the tow truck driver to please wait for the van owners husband who was on his way. The driver was very rude to me and said I gave "him" the business card , him being my grandson. He also said the van would be in the lot and the owner could get anything out he needed "tomorrow ." I believe the driver could have waited five minutes, it's not like he was busy on Fathers Day Sunday . Please speak to him about courtesy especially in stressful situations . I was in an accident this morning on Bloomfield Ave, and because my car was blocking traffic, the Glen Ridge Police Dept would not let me wait for AAA to come and tow me. Instead, they sent the scam operation Roach's to come and tow me to their yard from where I could then have AAA tow me to my repair facility. Basically, these people are the shadiest of the shady! In addition to the $100 towing fee (standard) and $30 daily storage fee (my car was in their yard for all of an hour or so), they also charged me a bullshit $185 labor charge for heavy clean up and the fact that they did not have my keys. I obviously was at the scene of the accident when my car was hooked up to the tow, and their driver never asked me for my keys or else I would've given them to him. I'd never had a car towed before, nor am I a tow truck driver, so I was not aware that standard protocol requires keys to the car. They obviously preyed on my ignorance of that fact. As for the "heavy cleanup", that consisted of them sweeping up the debris from my accident, and then throwing it all- metal scraps, dirt, glass, everything- in the back of my car. Really???!! Who does that? I would've swept the shit up myself if I knew they were going to charge me nearly $200 to throw a bunch of trash in the back of my car. I won't even start with the God awful customer service my boyfriend and I received when we went to the tow yard to pick up my car. Calling the guy who works in the office (apparently the owner) an asshole would be an insult to anuses worldwide. He was beyond rude, and obviously had absolutely no desire to be helpful or explain why I was being charged the exorbitant cleanup fee. Please, if you find yourself in the Montclair area and in need of a tow, stay as far away from Roach's Towing as humanly possible.Tony at D'Alessio Chevy in Boonton (AMAZING service, btw, review to come) also vouched for the fact that this is a terrible company with a horrible reputation. They are nothing more than scammers, and will swindle and lie to you to eek out every last cent they can get. Getting into an accident sucks as it is, but having to deal with these guys made it that much worse. They have some sort of monopoly over towing in Montclair, so I doubt this review will hurt their business much, but I am still going to post this review everywhere I can. I got a flat tire and called AAA. Within 45 minutes of speaking with AAA, they dispatched Roach's and thanks to the awesome text message/tracking feature, my driver was at Brookdale Park to meet me within 10 minutes. I think his name was Dathan, he was a Veteran and overall cool ass guy! Swapped out my old tire and put on the spare in no time. Quick service, super friendly and just an overall nice guy. Even pet my dog when he finished. Definitely a positive experience, despite the flat! read more

My car would not start and I called Roach's since they are the local towing company in Montclair. The person I spoke to on the phone who was very professional and told me he would send a driver out shortly to come jump my car. Did not even have to wait 10 minutes before a driver came out and got my car started. Very professional and courteous driver as well! The worst . Nastiest people ever! My car was towed there after someone ran a red light and smashed into me. This is the last place you want to go to right after leaving the hospital! I called AAA and they sent Roach's towing service to help me. While they could not tow the truck (it's a big big fed ex type truck) the driver, Dale, offered to just try to figure out what was wrong with it. He spent probably a total of an hour in the engine, running to get fuel for me, he even spoke on the phone with my Dad, a car expert. He fixed our car and could not have been nicer. He didn't want any money but I forced it on him. He is a rare gem of a man and an excellent mechanic and represented Roach's Towing Service well. I was so touched by his desire to help out. Horrible service. Very unprofessional. Went to pick up car and inside of my vehicle was muddy. Also charged me for 3 tows instead of 1 within a 24 hr time period!!!....yet couldn't tell me why or what time they towed my vehicle 3 different times!! When confronted about this, the gentleman at the desk became combative and refused to tell me anything other than his first name. Of course they tried to skirt all responsibility by placing it on Montclair Police (just conveniently forgot any names and kept zero records of their transactions) Not cool. $376 formless than 24 hrs. This company is the worst i have ever encountered. It is unfortunate that the local All State insurance agent, Jesse Branson, recommended him instead of sending me to call the 800 roadside assistance for one of their authorized provider. And since they are not All State's authorized towing company, It cannot be held liable by All State even their own agent was the one who recommended him to me. This company screws up people as per online reviews and my own experience. The owner claims to have many experience towing cars like mine (BMW X5M) but managed to destroy my suspension airbags and sensors. This company ridiculously denies it even after BMW dealer, STS tire center, and AutoCouture Motoring stated that these parts were damaged by the J hook of this towing company. The worst part here is the owner himself did it. He claimed to be an expert on this but did not even utilize the tow hook of my car. He just threw those 2 J hooks underneath my car and start pulling my car out without looking and stated "I don't have to look. I have done so many of these". Due to the damage he did, i had to have it towed again to the shop but this time by the All State authorized provider, Ajaco Towing. It was a night and day comparison from the attitude towards customer to actual procedure. Now i am stocked with at least $ 1,600 expense for the damage caused by this company and he even have a nerve to say "your on your own on this!". I have never ever made any reviews before but i feel the need to do this, hoping that someone sees this review prior to getting fooled by this company. read more

I will NEVER do business again with any merchant that contracts with Roach's towing and will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. The person at the office window and on the phone was inexplicably hostile, rude, and accusatory, despite my efforts to pay him. He would not answer any of my questions and was immediately combative. Use of this service reflects poorly on the merchants who use them for towing. I am usually extremely reluctant to leave reviews even when I have experienced poor service, but this was absolutely unprecedented. I can see from the other reviews that this was not an isolated incident.
