There is nothing there. The GPS told us to pull over, and there was nothing but a guardrail there.

Sites are a decent size. Ours was very wet right outside our camper door well after it rained. Most of the best sites are used by seasonal campers and a good portion of those campers are in rough shape. No maintained hiking trails through the vast property. This place has tons of potential if someone took the time and money to improve it They do accept Passport America members at a discounted price. If you you do stay here, drive down the road a bit and eat at the TopSpot restaurant. Get the open faced roast beef sandwich.

Campground has lots of seasonal and permanent residents that had most of the shaded sites. Our site was open to the sky. Utilities are in the middle and water pressure was strong. No dog park but there were plenty of places to walk the dogs. It's dark and quiet at night so we had a great night's sleep. Owners were very helpful and accommodating. Campground is 4 miles off the interstate on narrow, winding country roads, especially when you get on Middle Fork Road, where there are about 3-4 switchbacks with blind curves. Also if you have a big and tall rig, some of the trees have low branches. They're a PA park and also give discounts to military and veterans.

When we arrived, the lake did *not* disappoint -- calm water, gorgeous scenery, and just a relaxed, welcoming energy. We didn't even try to explore the whole place (it's huge). We stopped at the first dock we saw, hopped out with our gear, and got straight to fishing. Mealworms on the hook, lines in the water, and good vibes all around. We saw fish swimming past and had a few nibbles, but no actual catches this time. Still, the whole experience was a win. It wasn't crowded at all -- just a few groups scattered around, everyone spaced out enough that it still felt peaceful. No loud music, no chaos, just people enjoying nature. **Pro Tips:** * Bring your own bait, drinks, and plenty of snacks (trust me, you'll get hungry). * There's a port-o-potty nearby *or*, you know\... nature works in a pinch (ask the boys ). * Sunscreen is a must and a hat, perhaps. We're already planning a return trip -- maybe with kayaks or to check out another part of the lake. If you're looking for a quiet, scenic spot to fish, chill, or just unwind without a crowd, Plum Orchard is a solid pick.

The southern part of the lake had a large layer of lily pads and the water caught the fall colors of the hills perfectly. This is a small KOA that is a decent travel stop for a night or two if you're traveling through WV…read more Many of the sites are absurdly packed together and upon check in we ended up having to pay more money to upgrade to a different site because if we had tried to stay in the site they originally put us in we would have been touching the camper next to us or been mere inches away from them when we put our slides out. This is not an exaggeration. My husband and I walked around the park and from what we observed we suspect at one point many of the pull thru sites may have once been single sites split into two to maximize the park's potential profit. Nice for them but not great for the occupants. Dumpsters are located at the back of the campground which is inconvenient if you're staying in a site near the front. Although the pamphlet does say if "you're leaving in a rush" at the end of your stay you can leave your sealed up trash bag at the end of your site to be picked up. The sites are mostly level but the one we stayed in had that kind of minimal incline that cause you to roll forward just enough to make hitching up a pain. The "upgraded" sites with patios are a bit messy looking. In fact. many sites overlook a neighbor to the campground who appears to be a hoarder so that isn't the most pleasant view if you're vacationing. Although the campground can't control what the neighbor does on their property it would be nice if they invested in a fence along that side of the park to make it look tidier. On the positive side, they did have a couple of little ponds that look pretty well suited to some light recreational fishing but didn't look as appealing for swimming. They have lots of pull thru sites which is convenient for quick stopovers and they are located near a major highway (but be prepared for some road noise). It's also really nice that they're open year round. We didn't have a lot of interaction with the staff but when we did they were cordial. In summary, it's a decent campground that meets the basic needs of a traveler but I would use this more as a layover campground than a destination. Overall would probably rate it about 2.5 stars. 3 stars ranking it against a regular campground but only 2 stars comparing it to KOA's.

We stayed at one of the camping cabins with a full bathroom. Spotlessly clean and outfitted with everything that we would need for our stay. The far back part of the lake there is this Old Historical (re-enactment ) fort called Fort Randolph. This is pre Colonial time frame in the 1730's when the land was being newly discovered and the likes of Daniel and Squire Boone was running around the woods chasing and running from Indians. The fort is pretty good size and it is opened during re-enactment times only for tourist. We walked around the fort and I was able to get some really nice shots. There is also a homestead log cabin and behind the cabin there is a Indian Village with oval shaped wigwams and other items re-enacting a Indian Encampment. There was a lot of Canadian Tourist waddling around and flapping their wings aka arms around. Very noisy honking tourist voicing their opinions on the park. This is also a campground also where people not only camp during peak season but off season too, by the looks of some of the lots I think they live there year round. At Lake Krodel there is paddle boats, docks and you can fish, picnic and bring your own canoes and kayaks to enjoy the day with the kids. Picnic tables with shelters and playground equipment. It's a very lovely Free park to enjoy with the kids and family!!!
