Smothered pork chop with loaded mashed potatoes.
    Tricia B.

What a wonderful restaurant! We stopped here on recommendations of a colleague. At first, I was nervous it was going to be just another coffee shop. Then I saw the menu - wow! I ordered the mushroom smoothered pork chop, loaded mash potatoes, and seasonal veggies. The pork chop was cooked to perfection, which was a delightful surprise as I find restaurants often over-cook porkchops and make they too dry - not here! The loaded mash potatoes were filled with all the goodness of a loaded baked potato: cheese, sour cream, onion, bacon. The broccolini was cooked so it was still crisp. Our server was delightful and very attentive. I will definitely be going back to this restaurant!

Wow what a gem! We were passing through for dinner on our way to Casper, Wyoming. It is always a bit difficult to find good quality restaurants in small towns. We took a chance here and were rewarded handsomely! We both had the Balsamic NY Steak Fettuccine Alfredo, which was AMAZING! The quality of the food was what you would expect from a major city and it was cooked fresh and to perfection. The pasta was hand-made as well. I sincerely wish I could give this place more than 5 stars! Major props to the chef! The staff was super friendly and the whole restaurant was well maintained, clean, especially the bathrooms. If you are passing through, this is a must stop!

House salad with blue cheese, seasoned bread and beer pre-entree (big ribeye for $31.00)!

Bottom Line: I'd go back, but order the local, non-frozen beef, or the well-reviewed wild salmon. It's not cheap, but if you read the other reviews, Yelpers like the place. There were zero smokers lighting up after their meal - a big plus. After meeting the owner, and getting a lot of info, I am going to review the food separate from the service. 98% of dissatisfied customers will never tell the business their opinion. Give honest feedback, so we all benefit . FYI: Yelp charges a fee for owners to list with Yelp, and incurs fees for "check-in deals." I thought about suggesting Yelp offers, but why pay for Yelp and also offer more bucks off for a one-store family business? Maybe not a good fiscal option, but they can think of it as an advertising expense for travelers or Yelping locals. Food: *** 3 stars. Skipping the cajun shrimp special, I ordered the $31.00 boneless ribeye dinner. DON'T if you're a GrillU or Bobby Flay fan. Cooked to order medium rare. On the plus side, the broccolini was locally sourced and al dente'. In talking with the owner, DO ask (next time) what's locally sourced for beef or where the fish came from (sometimes he buys Hawaii sourced fish). I picked a meal that at a chain restaurant was about a $14.99 - $17.99 meal in texture, marking and flavor, but chains have a HUGE price advantage on product. Wholly my choice to get the pre-frozen standard ribeye over the MENU SPECIFIED grass fed filet. After trudging through the Tetons today, I was hungry, so I went for the larger portioned ribeye steak. If you read my reviews - you know I will pay extra for quality. The salad veggies were crisp and the focaccia bread was nicely seasoned. Service: ***** 5 stars. Family owned and run, this place is a locals favorite. DO call ahead for Fri or Sat date nights, or during big events (about 15 tables of four). All of my order arrived promptly, and after a few check-ins from the waitress, I was left alone to enjoy my meal. Notes: For a well reviewed place, stick to what the locals eat. I heard a few adjacent tables order "the same" so LISTEN to them! I have a food allergy, so I had to select something else. Parking is on the street right in front or an adjacent gravel lot. If you happen to use mobility aids, park on the street. Their ADA parking spot is concreted to code, but patrons may jam you up with their plan for parking on the unmarked gravel on a busy night. In the ADA tone of this paragraph, I identified my food allergies and they well accomodated me. I forgot to ask if they cater. All major credit cards accepted, wifi is available.

    Huge cups of delicious coffee.

Well, if you are one of the coastal elite who have invaded the cowboy town that I've spent summers…read morein for over 50 years, you might like this place, otherwise, steer clear of it. On the positive side, their outside dining space is delightful. Shady, tree filled and charming. If you simply want a place for a coffee and a chat - enjoy! Now to the food. The menu seems overthought from the get go. Constant references to local, housemade etc. It tries to sell a certain experience but completely fails to deliver. My mom and I both opted for a simple grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of tomato bisque soup. Soup was solid if on the salty side. I almost have no words for how bad the simple grilled cheese was. No butter or oil of any kind on outside of sandwich. Cheese on inside was a slice of provolone and some scattered cheddar. Not even melted through. Tasted more like stale bread than grilled in anyway. Vessel for soup had such a small top opening that it was impossible to dip without cutting the sandwich beyond halves. (Isn't dipping what you order grilled cheese and tomato soup to do?) Water was never refilled at table despite two requests when they came by to refill coffee. My friends had a quinoa bowl with poached egg on top and the other a simple cheeseburger. Neither even finished half which tells me a lot. The friend who ordered a cheeseburger decided to try their "signature " sautéed spinach instead of fries as a side. His spinach side could have fit into a teaspoon. This place might appeal to the NOLA/girls with unshaven armpits crowd but for honest, hungry people- walk away. It's just a very bad presentation of cali style casual cuisine. BTW, four of us. Two grilled cheese/cup of tomato soup plates, two coffees, one quinoa bowl and one cheeseburger with a teaspoon of spinach- 100+ Unbelievable. The more I see all the gentrification of californication of Lander, the more I hate it and unfortunately, the Middle Fork pretty much sums up what is wrong with Lander's "emerging " food scene.

I previously reviewed this restaurant and loved it. Visited today and ordered the exact same…read morebreakfast featured in my earlier review (2 eggs to order). It was awful. Potatoes were burnt, scrambled eggs overdone and rubbery, spinach slimy and greasy. If that's still "locally sourced" bacon they should save themselves some money and go to Safeway. Solidly underwhelming experience. Will not be returning.
