I have had auto insurance with…read more20th/21st Century (Now Farmers) since the 90s, and they kept things simple and organized with 2 payments per year, but an employer asked to add an additional insured on a vehicle, so I called 21st Century, and was transferred on the same phone call to another department which answered as Farmers. Then I was channeled to this agent in Santa Maria who quoted a high premium, but talked me into adding home insurance, to lower the rate and with promises that were not real, according to my attorney. They sent me many things to sign, and one actually conflicted with another, so an attorney advised me to cross out lines and the agent actually agreed to modify it. I have other policies with State Farm and Liberty, and never had such confusing contracts. However they double charged me for the auto insurance, and had me pay a handful of various payments, but then said that a payment did not go through, and that I was late to pay, and later canceled me. It never got sorted out, apparently went to collections and damaged my near perfect credit. 21st could not explain, other than Farmers gets certain policies. Farmers did not clarify or respond to my letters. If you have 21st Century for auto, make sure a Farmers agent is not involved, and use other companies for other insurance.
