Do not use Melissa Ems Insurance! Trying to find an agency…read morethat is proactive and attentive is difficult. Melissa Ems is neither of these. After our active hurricane season, I needed a quote on both homeowners and flood insurance. I met with Jeff, one of their employees. Jeff is a great salesman, promising to help research and find the best coverage at the lowest price. Once you sign up with Jeff, you never hear from him again. You are forwarded to other employees who are supposed to manage your case. Most often, I would get the office manager Diane, who made excuses saying they had so many clients they couldn't get back to everybody. Wait, what? So my policy can lapse because you have too many people to serve? Find another agency that has the ability to serve all of their clients.

I transferred my State Farm car and rental insurance to FL from VA in Feb 2015. The first switch I made was from an office in Tampa to this office in Clearwater. I made an appointment with Mike to talk about getting my very high rates lowered. My payment was lowered under $200 for one month October 2015. After that it shot back up over $220/month. Then I was hit by an out of town business man in a rental. What a nightmare trying to get them to start repairs. I was led in several different directions. I honestly thought that my State Farm agent and office were looking out for me when they said to let them take care of the repairs and they would go after the other party. That was not the case. Unfortunately they sent me to Ferman Ford who didn't even complete the repairs or do an alignment. Shortly after my repairs were done I had a tire go flat exactly were I was hit. Ferman Ford told me that I needed 2 new tires and this was not related to my accident. Did I mention that my 2014 Ford Fusion had less than 25,000 miles on it, and I bought it brand new? I'm now out $320 for 2 new tires, over $120 for the rental from Enterprise Rental, my $500 deductible and the accident was 2 months ago 4/4/2016. I went in to talk to my agent about the poor service at Ferman, my feeling of being taken advantage of with the tire replacement, my claim status and my ridiculous rates. Mike talked a lot, but did nothing. I know insurance is a business, but you should always feel like your agent has your best interest in mind. This one does not; nor does State Farm. Geico- here I come!!
