As an avid surfer, we have started a personal "wave art" collection in our home. We are not the…read moresuper rich folks but we try to collect paintings dealing with water. There are abundance of "impressionist" ocean paintings out there, mostly formulaic, but our focus is to find pictures that capture the moment of being there... like bring in a surfing lineup, or just before I paddle out for surf. That means the images do not have to be photo-realistic (and you got your mobile device camera for that anyway!) What Kate has collected really resonated with my idea of surf paintings should be. And so if you agree with me, this gallery is a well worthwhile stop. For example check out Grant Pecoff's work. A bit whimsical, it really convey the fun of being "out there." And that's what I like. And don't be afraid to ask for the price, many of them are reproduced from the original in the "giclee" and substantially more affordable than the originals. And that's perfect for me.

Grant Pecoff is one of my favorite artists and bought one of his wonderful books as a gift for a friend back home. Hadn't planned to buy anything for myself but when I saw the original watercolor by the artist Coco, it stopped me dead in my tracks. The painting brought back wonderful memories of living in Miami growing up and bobbing happily in the surf for hours. It's called "The Cure" and knew I had to have it. It's now home with me in Colorado and will bring me joy every day! The owner of the The Bright Side (Kate) seems very knowledgeable and was so sweet in working with me to buy the painting.
