The Damage & Failed Correction: I went to Pyure Salon in Coconut Creek with a dark brunette base. I sat with stylist Angela Snell and explicitly requested caramel money pieces, making it clear that I wanted to avoid orange tones. Angela under-toned the bleach application, leaving me with a harsh, bright copper-orange color. I actually gave Angela a chance to fix it and went back to the salon, but she was incredibly rude, denied that it was orange, and insisted it was "caramel" when it obviously was not. The photos I've attached of the brassy orange hair actually show her after the attempted correction. To make matters worse, the chemical processing severely compromised my hair texture, leaving my strands noticeably damaged, dry, frizzy, and disrupting my natural curl pattern. The Final Correction: Because of the extensive color and texture damage, I went to Bokka Salon in Coconut Creek for a major color correction. Toni at Bokka completely transformed my hair back to beauty. Toni expertly neutralized the harsh orange tones, delivering the soft, seamless sandy wood and caramel dimensions I originally wanted. Toni also deeply hydrated my hair, completely restoring my natural curl definition and shine. Save yourself the stress, damage, and poor customer service. I actually waited until I left the salon to express my concerns because I didn't want to embarrass her in front of other stylists or clients. I came in with a very specific inspiration photo for both my cut and color: an auburn/brown-bronze overall color with a softer caramel money piece and subtle ribbons underneath, and a long butterfly-style cut with face-framing layers while maintaining my length and fullness. Unfortunately, what I received was very different. My entire head was heavily highlighted/lightened, leaving me much blonder than requested, with very dark pieces throughout instead of the rich auburn/bronze color in my reference. She later explained that I had booked a balayage, but I never asked for my old highlights to be brought up or for my entire head to be lightened. If the service I booked wasn't appropriate for the photo I showed, I expected that to be explained before proceeding. She initially offered to correct the color, and I agreed. However, the next morning, once the salon curls fell and I saw the haircut unstyled, I was devastated. A significant amount of density had been removed from the lower portion of my hair, leaving the last several inches extremely thin compared with the full ends I had before. It looked nothing like the long, full, blended layers in my reference photo. I immediately sent her photos and videos showing what my hair looked like naturally. Rather than acknowledging what I was showing her, she maintained that the haircut was done "perfectly," said a butterfly cut "must be styled," told me I should have asked for long layers instead, and said I had "misled" her by asking for different things during the appointment. She also said she "might not have been able to read my mind." I never expected anyone to read my mind--that's why I brought reference photos. If anything I said conflicted with those photos, I would have expected clarifying questions before making irreversible changes to my hair. To be fair, she did offer to have me return and correct the issues at her expense. However, after repeatedly being told the haircut was correct and the problem was my communication, I no longer felt comfortable having the same stylist make additional changes. I requested a refund so I could have another professional assess and correct my hair, but she declined. This was especially emotional for me because I spent years growing my hair back after losing it during chemotherapy. I was extremely protective of its length, density and health, so having so much of it unnecessarily lightened and the ends thinned out was devastating. Miscommunication can happen and not every appointment turns out perfectly. What ultimately determined my review was how my concerns were handled afterward. I would have appreciated some acknowledgment that the result did not match the reference rather than being told the haircut was "perfect" and that I was responsible for the misunderstanding. I'm including photos of what I requested, my hair before, the salon-styled result, and what it looked like afterward so others can make their own assessment.

I texted and called the braider to communicate I was not happy with how the braids were looking. The lines were not straight and the braids were bumpy/uneven (possibly due to using too much weave). The braider reported in our phone call that my pictures were bad pictures and too dark to give an accurate depiction of her work. I disagreed with her, citing the lines are visible regardless of how dark or bright the pictures were (they were not dark). She advised to take a look at the end result in better lighting to see a better view of the braids. I, again, let her know we intend to finish the appt, but I am providing feedback that I do not like the look of the braids. Following the appt, my husband sent more pictures and eventually I saw them in person when they got home. The braids look just as they did from the pictures. The lines are NOT straight and the braids look like a beginner just learning the craft. My biggest issue is the lack of accountability. The owner/braider dismissed my feedback about the braids and the fact that she was 45 minutes late. I was also charged a $6+ service charge for using our debit card to pay. We paid via Zelle last time. She noted my husband is an adult and could have paid another way (we'll take that loss). But her response, rude. She noted "everyone charges a service charge for using cards". No apology. No attempt to rectify the concerns. Just dismissed their bad work. I came here once before and had decent service. Braids were nice, but could have been better. I was giving this salon another try and thought simple box braids can't be messed up. I was wrong. We won't be back. Neither will my sister and her daughter, who were also customers here (my referral source).
