Spoke with Robert G dent staff, set up a consultation for a new unit, had my old unit checked out, and ultimately decided to replace the 18 year-old system. They showed up on time, they provided professional services, left the place clean and orderly after the work was complete, and followed up to make sure everything was operating correctly. They offered a great warranty, a great product, and a great price, so I have no complaints. I had dealt with another local vendor for many years, and Robert G Dents service and customer service was much better in my option. I'm happy I switched for a multitude of reasons. In November 2016 I asked Dent's to repair the heating and air-conditioning system that Dent had installed in 1988 and upgraded for us 20 years later. The problem was that we had no control of the temperature in the two downstair zones. 10 months, 4 visits, and about $1800 in bills later, they finally found the problem: a clogged 10' copper fuel line. I could have replaced that line with PVC for about $10 dollars, yet Dent specifically itemized $500 for replacement of that line! When I asked in writing for a more detailed itemization of that item, the response was another invoice for the same amount + a late payment fee. Dent installed two furnaces in my house including the ducting throughout our 19th century home. We had worked with Terry Dent, son of Robert G., happily for 30 years. It's November and my heat pump was not working. I had been told that the drain pan was cracked for the AC unit and since the heater was starting to act up, I thought the unit needed to be replaced. Mike came and investigated the problem until he figured out what was wrong - there was a major clog in the indoor unit that was throwing the pressure off and not allowing refrigerant to circulate. I am not exactly sure how it works, but that was the source of the excess water (not a cracked drain pan). And this clog must have been there for some time, because my heat pump is now working better than it has in years. I almost threw away thousands of dollars buying a new unit when actually all I needed was a good servicing. There is a problem in this area - it is almost impossible to get your heat pump serviced unless you call months in advance, and every year, I forget to make an appointment early and end up not servicing the unit. Well, this is the last year I do that. Either way, Dent and Mike did a great job figuring out the problem and getting the heat pump up and running before the really freezing temperatures. Is Robert G Dent actually accepting new customers now? I hear the ads all the time which is ironic as I was treated as if they would never take my business. The receptionist was super rude when I called last year and said if I'm not a current customer they're not interested in helping me. Act that way and you will need more ads for business.
