I won't mention them by name, but they wasted my time, gave me false hope and had little follow-through on their part, with no contact for months, and I would get pathetic, measly replies after hounding them. After being burnt several times by useless recruiting agencies (you know who you are), I decided that I will try the next one down the list, with no expectations whatsoever. I worked primarily with Dave, and he was so caring and kind, and I finally felt I had my own cheerleader in this dreadful job hunting process. Within a week, he had 3 interviews lined up for me. Within 2.5 weeks, from first contact, I started my new job! I would've started sooner if it weren't for the holidays. They really follow-through, and when they say they're looking for openings for you, they mean it! Before every interview, I had a call with Dave to prep me for what's to come. I didn't even ask for it -- he just did it! They went above and beyond, and they continue to keep in touch with me to make sure all is good in the new place. I met several former Manning candidates in this job and other places I interviewed, and they all have nothing but amazing things to say, and it's no surprise there. I know at this point I am sounding like I get commission for endorsements lol, but the truth is, I was in a difficult spot, mentally, financially, and I would want anyone else in a similar situation to find the same help that I did. Vocational rehabilitation, if you will. Save yourself the frustration, and start with them first.

Things were going fairly well at the second company where Randstad placed me, until one day my boss OD'd on his Crazy Flakes and became domineering and abusive. It was really, really bad. Like something snapped. I called Randstad, asking them to move me immediately. My rep wasn't having it. "Why don't you just go back in and apologize?" she suggested meekly. "What?" I sputtered. "I haven't done anything wrong! My boss is psycho! I saw his head spin around 360 degrees!" (It could happen.) "Sometimes we have to do unpleasant things to placate people." "I don't want to placate him. I WANT TO LEAVE." In the end, she insisted I apologize and refused to place me elsewhere. I didn't last very long with that job, and I certainly left Randstad right after. One star for finding me the first job. Another star for leaving me with a bizarre story to tell on Yelp.
