I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Pavelka and his ENTIRE team! I'm SO grateful that I was referred to him by my orthodontist for double jaw surgery. My surgery was a year ago and I'm SO happy with the results! It was one of the best things I've ever done for myself and I couldn't be more happy with the results and my appearance. I have so much more confidence in my appearance now and receive tons of compliments on my transformation. I've had a lot of experience with doctors and surgeons, and I can tell you that Dr. Pavelka is as good as it gets, and is, in my opinion, the GOLD STANDARD. I'm so spoiled by this experience, that now I'm critical about every other healthcare provider I visit because they aren't as nice, or aren't as organized, or aren't as proactive, or available or whatever - as Dr. Pavelka and his team! I seriously wish I could go to them for all my healthcare needs. Jaw surgery isn't an easy thing to go through. It's scary and invasive, it's appearance altering, it's painful - so you HAVE to have someone you can trust. And not just trust. You have to have someone who is kind, who makes time for you, who genuinely cares about your wellbeing and your results. At every step of the way, Dr. Pavelka and his team went above and beyond for me. They always made me feel comfortable and reassured, and they even stepped up to the bat for me as my advocate while I was facing some major obstacles with insurance and the hospital. I've never had a healthcare team make me feel so important and cared for. Dr. Pavelka is so caring, he's a great listener, and he always made time for me when I had questions or needed a last minute appointment. I recently had a life or death situation.... LITERALLY. Over the weekend, I had a nosebleed that would not stop. This was not a simple nose bleed. I lost A LOT of blood. It was the scariest situation that I have ever experienced in my life. Imagine spending HOURS trying to stop a bleed in an emergency room. Imagine leaning forward and seeing blood stream from your nose. Then imagine leaning back and blood is running down your throat. Then imagine both nostrils being plugged so that it is uncomfortable to breathe... your lips are drying from the amount of air that your mouth is trying to take in. You're scared to fall asleep because you are not sure how you are going to breathe throughout the night. Your face, your hands and your clothes are covered in blood. Your nose is raw from constantly wiping with ANYTHING you can get your hands on. That was my situation on a very recent Saturday night. The next day, I was wheeled into a special surgery done by Dr. Pavelka.... ON A SUNDAY EVENING. He was able to cauterize several areas of my nose but was unable to completely stop the bleed due to my severe deviated septum. Here is where things became wonderful for me... Dr. Pavelka was extremely forward-thinking in his approach to my situation. He was up to speed on the latest advances in medical technology to recommend "maxilllary artery embolization". I'll spare you the details but its some very cool and verrrry scary stuff. Dr. Pavelka came to my room EVERY DAY. He took the time to examine me, answer my questions, and address any concerns that I had about this procedure. (He wasn't the one doing the procedure... as a brain surgeon had to do it).... Even though he was not my actual doctor "assigned" to me in the hospital, he knew the most about my situation. He seemed to CARE more about my situation than my primary care physician and the doctor assigned to me- through the hospital. Dr. Pavelka single-handedly took charge and was instrumental in the conversations (and action plans) of the Intervention Radiology team. He told them exactly what my problem was and made sure that they were informed/ prepared for my procedure. He took the time to make sure that he understood my procedure so that he could put my mind at ease. He even convinced the surgeon (performing the procedure) to speak to me personally- before the procedure. He literally worked hand-in-hand with everyone (literally everyone) to make sure that I was in good hands. Not only that, he reached out to some of his fellow ENT surgeons to find someone that was available to perform my septoplasty and turbinectomy. Again, Dr. Pavelka checked on me every day and pretty much assured that I was not bleeding as bad as I was in the beginning. He made sure that I left the hospital in a better state of mind than when I entered. Having said all of that, I want to really drive the point home that Dr. Pavelka could have easily did his part, handed it to someone else and went about his routine. He didn't do that. He really took me under his wing and made sure that I was taken care of. I am alive and doing fine because of Dr. Pavelka. Had I not gone to that hospital, there is no telling how my situation would have turned out. And I am not exaggerating. Texas Presbyterian is taking the lead in technology and procedures (like the one I received) that not too many hospitals are doing. So again, had it not been for Dr. Pavelka knowing about that work, there is no telling how I would be sharing my experience about that weekend. I can't tell you anything about his private practice... but I CAN vouch for his character and his knowledge of medicine. I can vouch for his bedside manner and good heart. So if you're wondering if it is a good idea to have Dr. Pavelka as your doctor, I highly recommend him! read more

Dr Pavelka is knowledgeable and professional and just an amazing Doctor. I highly recommend.

My wife went to see Dr. Pavelka and liked him. Then, when she walked out she got a $510 bill for a consultation. I called them and they said (after being asked if they were in-network BEFORE scheduling) that they are out-of-network with all insurances. Then later in the conversation, the lady said she sent something to my insurance company in the mail 6 days earlier. My insurance says they never received anything from Pavelka's office. I filled out my own claims and they got rejected because while Pavelka IS in-network, he files claims under a different corporation. Same address, same Tax ID, license, etc. but because of the new name, no coverage. Very deceitful practices, leaving insured customers with a bill they can't do anything about except pay. read more

Dr. Pavelka is not only the best in DFW at what he does, he is probably the kindest dentist in the state. I cannot express how compassionate and caring he was today during my appointment. What, under the care of a lesser experienced, less empathetic dentist could have been a nightmare, turned out to be a dream. Having multiple teeth removed, and an exceptionally low threshold for pain, I was prepared for an unpleasant appt. Not the case! Instead I was in and out and with no pain. Ok so I'm a chicken of MONUMENTAL proportions - like I have FEATHERS under my arms but my experience with EVERYONE in Dr. Pavelka's office has been phenomenal. I went in with 7 impacted teeth to be removed- YUP i said 7 and Dr. Pavelka removed 5 of the 7 because he gave a full consultation and explained how it was better for me. Have you ever been to an office and felt like there was a disconnect between the staff and the Physician? Here? Not so!! EVERYONE is UBER professional, comforting, welcoming, and all around great people. I'd love to see them again....just NOT for this service again if I could help it. I went to Dr Jason Pavelka for the tooth extraction. Dr Pavelka was very good and he made it simple and easy. Here is reason for my 2 stars 1)I called the front office 3 weeks back and got an estimate, based on the insurance it was coming up to be $75. When I went there, after they numbed me in the chair, they said bill is $410 and they will claim insurance later and it may take upto 30 days to get reimbursement. I was not prepared to pay $410, but I had no option because I was numbed. 2) Nurse who was suppose to give me aftercare instruction did not advise me to hold the gauze for 45 mins or more at constant pressure. Because of that my tooth had excessive bleeding till morning 2:00AM, I have to lookup the information online to see how to stop the bleeding.. 3)Nure who was suppose to call in the prescription forgot to do it, so I have to go there and standin the line to drop off the prescription(Not a big thing, but definately be more comfortable if they called in). read more

I only marked 4 stars because I have no way of comparing the quality of this surgeon over another. I can say that his personality and patient interaction manners are excellent. I took my child for wisdom teeth extraction. As much as people hope for no pain and a quick recovery, you should know that every person heals and reacts differently. I will talk about our experience only. The overall procedure took approximately 1 hour for 4 wisdom teeth to be removed. Due to sedation and local anesthesia, my child felt no pain for the first few hours after surgery. The general anesthesia caused nausea and vomiting after the surgery, but they prescribed medicine to help minimize the nausea. I believe this may only happen with certain people and only lasted the first day. Bleeding continued for a few hours on the first day only, but guaze was given to help clotting. The pain was manageable with advil and tylenol only on the first day, but had to stay ahead of the pain by taking advil and tylenol as prescribed. The doctor prescribed pain killers and steroids also to help reduce swelling, but we opted not to use them. There was no pain on the second day, but the jaws were stiff and difficult to open the mouth for the first week,which was expected and normal. Swelling began right after surgery and lasted about two weeks, which is also normal. Steroids may shorten that time period by a week, but we opted not to take it. All the post operation care instructions given were easy to follow, but required diligence to keep up. The doctor handled our follow up and questions very well. Everything the doctor stated about healing process and time was accurate. Although I was concerned about the way the gums looked in the first few days, I was happy to see it all normalize by the end of the second week. I feel confident to return for the same procedure for my other kids. We never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see the doctor and the staff were helpful and nice to us. read more
