It's been a year since my initial review and I have to deduct several stars. I am no longer a…read moremember for several reasons. 1) All the classes I joined to take were cancelled. 2) Several of the classes that looked interesting were always full. 3) $80/month for a fitness facility and swimming pool was not worth the price. 4) My personal trainer left and I couldn't connect with any of the others. 5) They started charging for stupid things. (Ex. A women's or men's fitness center "card" was $5-for the first card. I can see charging me if I lost one, but come on! At $80 a month the first one should be included. 6) Rudeness. The workers became downright rude at times. That $5 fee I mentioned above...I watched a worker pocket my $5. 7) Planet Fitness opened. For a fraction of the cost I get a lot of the same stuff, minus a pool. Maybe I'll try them again in the future when my daughter is older.

The aquatics director, swim coach, lifeguards have done everything to keep kids, parents and each other safe. My youngest has gotten phenomenal attention during his swim lessons and will be ready for the swim team by summer at the age of 5. My oldest made the swim team at the age of 5 because of their hard work and dedication to our kids, our family and the community. I can't say enough wonderful things.

Bad news. New…read moreReynoldsburg location. Stopped in to check on their new location, advertising $10 membership on ground placards all over the community. Walked in, they gave me a tour, and then came sales pitch. Of course they don't want to sell me the $10 level I wanted, they were pushing (and I do mean pushing) the $20 level. When the rep wasn't getting anywhere with me, he brought over one of the "managers" who really put the pressure on. Since I really wanted to join a gym I said okay. A moment of insanity must have hit me. I'm sitting there signing a membership that will deduct $21.34 automatically out of my checking account on a monthly basis, PLUS another $30 every December for some vague operating costs, PLUS a postdated check (eight days out) for $77 as a sign up fee (administrative costs, don't ya know). I didn't feel good about my decision from the moment I left the place... all kinds of red flags going off in my head, in my gut. Two days later (within the 3 day purchase rule) I mailed a certified letter stating I wished to cancel my membership, enclosed a s.a.s.e. for the return of my postdated check. I mailed it to the address noted in the contract for canceling contracts, in Lancaster, Ohio. Still bad news. You guessed it, no one around at that address to sign it, they never received the notice, all the mail is being forwarded to the Renoldsburg location, etc (the garbage excuses I heard when I finally was able to get someone on the phone). I walked into the Reynoldsburg location angrier than I've been in a long, long time. Not good. After a lot more run around I was able to walk out with my postdated check and acknowledgment by the onsite manager that my contract was canceled. This transpired last week. I just checked my online checking account (one wk later)... guess who withdrew a $21.34 membership fee from my account?!!! Guess I'll be walking into the Reynoldsburg location again tomorrow. What a nightmare. Is it too much to ask to have a gym give you a legitimate quote and fee, and behave in a businesslike, responsible manner? So much for my health.

My opinion is that the Lancaster location is dirty and unwelcoming!…read more Cleanliness - They always run out of cleaning supplies to wipe down the equipment and act put out when you ask for more. The locker rooms are never "really" cleaned. Do you count vacuuming tile as cleaning? I don't. You can see and smell the grime in that bathroom. Set down a tissue and you will see it in the same place 2 days later. I have never, since they opened, seen any member of the staff wipe down equipment! I have however on multiple occasions seen 3 or 4 guy staff members sit in a corner and watch everyone and talk. Staff - There are a couple ladies who work there who are nice but the men act as if you owe them something. I have heard from several women that they have heard them make inappropriate remarks. Don't expect anyone to smile and welcome you at the door or any other time. Equipment - The equipment often breaks and takes a couple weeks to fix. Equipment that permanently breaks is not replaced - example the sit up bench. Vinyl becomes worn with holes and is not repaired - example captains chair. Aspen fitness is cheap and you get what you pay for!
