My family and I have used Dr Lasell for the past 25 years. We drive about 70 miles one way. He always fixes our problems carefully, professionally and makes sure we are not in pain. He's filled cavities and put crowns and bridges on my teeth and I have never had any problems afterwards. We will continue to use him until he retires. read more

After chipping a tooth, I was able to find them in-network and book a new patient consultation with relative ease and got into their office on a quick turn around. At 8:30 the day of the appointment the dentist was over an hour late, with no explanation given, and never spent more than five minutes with me as he bounced back and forth to other patients with later appointments. They charged for nitrous on the chipped tooth, which wasn't used, and a second consultation when there was only a single visit. After all of this, the bill was sent to insurance where it was charged in-network and we were notified by insurance that our responsibilities were fulfilled. Fast-forward a year and six days later, I receive a bill in the mail saying that if not paid the balance on my account will go to collections and Robert Lasell's office charged each item as non-network, despite insurance saying otherwise. This week I have placed over a hundred calls to the office, multiple attempts to see them in person during business hours where the door was locked and nobody would answer, and have sent dozens of emails. Through this entire ordeal, their billing manager is unreachable by any of their own staff to discuss these discrepancies or schedule an appointment to meet, and the one lone worker has no understanding of even basic billing. If you've always wanted to see a train-wreck, there is no staff more qualified than Robert Lasell. But as for dentistry, I would rather pay out of pocket anywhere else than to deal with them again. read more

I hate to pile on with all the other bad reviews but this person should not be in business! I had not had my teeth cleaned in years and when I finally got dental insurance, I made an appointment with Dr. Lasell for a cleaning and checkup. He immediately told me that I had so much plaque buildup, I had developed gum disease and needed a scaling and planing, which was going to be a several thousand dollar procedure with insurance. A family member who had recently had that done told me it was very painful and not to have it done unless absolutely necessary, so I went to another dentist for a second opinion. He told me I did need a deep cleaning, but I did not have gum disease. So I had the cleaning done there and have healthy teeth and gums to this day! I never needed a scaling and planing- Dr. Lasell needs to lose his license! read more

Replaced my tooth. Didn't look like promised. Went to another dentist for a cleaning, they immediately commented on the quality. Also, they did not record my contact information correctly. So when my insurance notified them they were not going to pay for as much of the procedure as first thought, Lassell, DDS did not reach out to me. I would give Dr. Lasell zero stars if I could. I went in for a new patient consultation after several years of not going to the dentist. He told me I was in the early stages of gum disease and would need rooting and scaling (deep cleaning). Then he explained to me that he would need to put me under completely and do one half of my mouth first and then the other half another time. It was going to cost me over $3,000 after insurance. Then he tried to sell me expensive toothpaste and told me I could get their credit card to help pay for the procedures. I went to another dentist for a second opinion and it turns out I didn't even need a deep cleaning. Furthermore, I found out that it is not at all necessary to put someone under for rooting and scaling. This man is trying to get money out of people and he should lose his license! read more

Do NOT go to this dentist!!! He examined my 10-year-old nephew in May of 2010. Dr. Lasell told us that he would need to have 6 teeth extracted and a lot of fillings. A year later, my nephew was taken back to have the extractions done. After arriving early for the first appointment of the day, they waited over TWO HOURS. When the Lasell finally got around to seeing him, he only extracted one tooth. When asked why they only took out one tooth instead of six, Lasell said that the other five teeth must have fallen out. My nephew hadn't lost any teeth in years. This doctor is a liar and an extortionist who is only trying to get more money out of you and your insurance. I just had the worst dental experience of my 33 year life at this dentist TWICE!!! Not only do I not recommend this dentist, but I suggest paying out of pocket for a different one. I waited close to two and a half hours for nothing to be done, I was ushered in and out with no explanation and they wasted my time and the money of my health insurance. I went to Dr. Lasell's office to have a filling fixed. He proceeded to tell me that I had 4 "tiny" cavities in addition to my cracked filling. Then he tried to sell me $30 toothpaste and send me out the door without having done a single thing. The receptionist then told me, in a snotty manner, that Dr. Lasell doesn't do anything on the first visit. Not only that, they told me that the supposed 4 cavities and cracked filling would have to be done in two separate visits because, according to the receptionist, "Dr. Lasell doesn't feel comfortable numbing both sides of the mouth". It seems to me that perhaps Dr. Lasell shouldn't be a dentist if he doesn't feel comfortable numbing both sides of the mouth. I am so glad I dodged a bullet by not having anything done the first visit though...after having read the other reviews. Please, please, please don't waste your time or money there. I would also like to comment on the condition of the office and exam rooms. The place is not as clean as a dental office should be and the exam rooms just feel dirty. None of the exam rooms are closed off rooms either; they're all open for everyone in waiting the front to see what's being done to patients. read more

First of all, don't trust the anonymous "A Google User" reviews below. Click on their "name" and look at the reviews. Have all these people really bought used cars in 8 different states and are able to name the salesman who helped them by name? These are paid reviews. Now, for my review. I would give zero stars if I could. I found Dr. Lasell through Google. I did not have many good options through my insurance so I had to choose Dr. Lasell, who had 3.5 stars at that moment, compared to his now inflated 4.4 stars. I was with Dr. Lasell for almost three months, visiting over ten times. He would just shuttle back and forth among his patients but never actually sit down and spend time talking about my concerns and problems. I do not think he cares about his patients, only his business. I had to wait an hour or more every time to be seen by him. He referred me to an orthodontist because he thought I was ready for braces. However, it was only after I changed dentists that I found I had periodontal disease and was at risk of losing teeth. (My new dentist was at College Station Modern Dentistry, who I would highly recommend.) He also asked my husband and I to do the so-called "deep cleaning" that cost an extra 50 dollars but only took 15 minutes. He himself wouldn't answer questions about how this cleaning was different, other than it used more expensive equipment. I could only talk to the secretary, who couldn't answer my questions. Please, do not waste your time and money here. I wish he could realize why he has a bad reputation among College Station dentists, and that he would seek to improve his practice. read more

Horrible experience. I went for an exam because I had a couple of teeth that needed some immediate attention. After waiting 45 minutes, the dentist came in and examined my mouth for not more than 30 seconds. He did not ask me why I was there or if I was having any issues or anything else. He then left and I waited another 15 minutes until they brought me his recommended "plan". It was ridiculously expensive and didn't even include the teeth that needed attention. He seemed more interested in addressing his capital requirements than in my needs. read more

A $1000 mistake and a lot of pain and suffering about sums it up! WORST dentist ever!! I went to Dr. Lasell while I was a college student at Texas A&M. Of course I was young and I did not have the best insurance. I had a few cavities and needed a crown replace due to decay. He put a GOLD tooth in my mouth!!!! I was horrified because the original was porcelain and this new gold tooth was more than noticeable. Needless to say I was unhappy about the gold tooth but the real problem was the pain that persisted in the tooth once it was crowned. I called two days after my procedure and let him know that my tooth was sensitive to anything hot or cold and was keeping me awake at night. He said that was normal and to give it a few more days. So I did and nothing seemed to help the sensitivity. I scheduled another appointment and he was anything but helpful. He was actually very mean, rude and yelled at me. Said if i didn't like his work "I should get a second opinion" I left his office crying hysterically. Not only was I in pain but he didn't seem to believer tha I was. He treated me like I was making up the pain to get the gold crown replaced. YES, I was unhappy about the gold however, I was in real pain. I did write him a letter and he responded to let me that I needed to have my teeth evaluated by the root canal specialist as quickly as possible. Well, to make long story even longer, I did seek a second opinion and she was educated enough to inform me the pain was most likely caused due to exposed margins. Meaning he did not get the crown all the way to my gum line and my root was exposed. I did not need an expensive and painful root canal after all, just an educated dentist that knew how to fix a crown properly. So I paid her to do the job he should have in the first place. Guess what..... it is has been over 6 years and I have not had one single pain or problem with sensitivity. Oh and she fixed it with a beautiful porcelain crow that you can't even notice. Thank you Dr. Grant!!!!! Please save yourself the time, money, pain and headache.... look for another. I went to Dr. Lasell when I was a college student at Texas A&M. He performed 3 root canals (#18, 19 & 20) on me... all that were botched. Not to mention put gold crowns on a beautiful smile- he should be shot. I've had to have all 3 retreated by specialists. All 3 have abscessed due to: perforated gums (possibly from looking for my roots in the molar), not going all the way down into the gums (avg root is 19MM, mine are 23MM) along with not cleaning out the canal completely. Save your money. Go to Austin or Houston and get a specialist to do your root canals. The dollar difference is not much with your insurance- trust me. Bottom line- Do not waste your time here. read more

Staff was pleasant but after he did my cavity and I complained of pain a few days later I was told he couldn't do anything else to go see an endodotics even if I would have to drive to Austin to do it (2 hrs away) . I had a great first experience here, everyone was prompt, friendly, and very efficient. I had dental X-rays done as well as a teeth cleaning. Everyone was very nice and very encouraging of my personal dental choices. I also loved how small of a business it was. There is only one dental hygienist, she was very good, and I like that predicability. AVOID this dentist at all costs. His license is currently on a 5 year suspension after a patient had to have two fingers partially amputated after he botched an IV and told her she was fine. He has lied to me about work needing to be done, misappropriated insurance funds and conveniently "lost" all of the original copies of my patient files when I requested to take ownership of them to transfer to another dentist. Their office staff is very rude and lies about (almost) everything. I went in to pick up my patient file and they said they dropped it with all original copies in the standard mail (where it seems to have been lost) and upon disputing the charge for X-rays that I never got requested that I leave their office. For information on his suspension or the lady who had fingers amputated, search the paper "the eagle" and college station dentist sued. You can also find the public record of his license suspension on the Texas state dental board website, where it is public knowledge. Look up Docket No. 504-13-4419 on Google and you can read the entire thing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! He also performed unnecessary work just to run up my bill for my insurance. Horrible experience. I had my wisdom teeth removed. Although I found his policy of only removing wisdom teeth from one side at a time a bit ridiculous, since others do not have this policy, the procedure went fairly well. However the problem was and continues to be his staff. I have been trying to deal with insurance issues from that procedure for two years now!! The receptionists have refused or simply dragged on the process of filling out a one page form that is needed by my insurance and they can be rude at times too. The office has no email which makes it more difficult to contact them. The manager has "no set schedule and only comes in when needed". The manager also has no phone number or email. It is 2015 and email is now the most common form of communication and not having that is unacceptable. I have asked the receptionists multiple times to have the manager give me a call, but I am still waiting. In the meantime they sent my account/balance to a collection agency and even that doesn't spark any ounce of motivation to accelerate the process of filling out one page and do their job!! * I was really uncomfortable about the nitrous oxide and informed the assistant. She told me that I could request that you take it off if necessary. o I should have spoken up about my concern, but was trying to be a good patient and go with the protocol. o It was never mentioned that this was an additional charge and was discussed as though this was office's standard protocol. * Once prepped, Dr. Lassell worked rapidly and vigorously in my mouth to the point of discomfort. o Every comment I made in regards to my pain or discomfort was regarded as, and I quote, "whiny", or disregarded as if I had never uttered a word. * Post-procedure- First mold o Mouth was forcefully pressed down even though I was clearly wincing in pain. o Pain was disregarded o I was instructed to "close harder" as the bearing down with physical force was continued to the point of unbearable pain o Mouth was forced shut to the point of my lips being shut tight. o Left in the room in this state for 10 minutes alone with no assistance. No one came by to see if how I was doing I began to choke and cough during this time. * No one came to help me * No one seemed to even be near enough to hear me aspirating * Spent 10 minutes struggling to breath with excruciating pain for the mold pressing on my jaws and gums where my mouth was physically forced closed. o Assistant returned- I informed the assistant of my aspiration and let her know that it felt as though there was plastic down in my throat. She never checked or commented. Informed me that I was fine due to the completion of the mold. * Post-Procedure- Second attempt at same mold o Dr. Lassell was informed of the pain and choking that was caused last time o Dr. Lassell disregarded and continued on in the same manner as prior. Mouth was forced shut through extreme pain. o Once my mouth was forcibly closed, I was left alone in the room again with a new mold and plastic down my throat. Incurred difficulty breathing Aspiration Coughing No one ever came to check on me Left alone again for 5-10 minutes while I was struggling to breathe. * Post Office Visit with Dr. Lassell o I left the dental office with a dull pain that I assumed was due to normal dental work I o That evening the dull pain had increased to the point that I could not even eat soft foods. Nauseated by pain When my wife called to get me an appointment the following day, due to the extreme pain and illness I was having she was informed that I would have to get an appointment next week because they simply did not have time to work me into the schedule. After three phone calls they finally called in a prescription for pain medicine, but still would not see me to address the pain. o Due to the botched dental work that Dr. Lassell performed, I have now had to have a root canal and am still trying to salvage two teeth due to complications from my visit to his office. o We have requested a refund from the office for part of the services rendered. o We have requested their office retract the claim from our insurance, so that our insurance will pay for the work that we have to have done completely over again due to the botched dental work performed by Dr. Lassell and his staff. Their version of doing this was to call the insurance and make sure that our insurance knew that the "services were rendered" * The services were not rendered. The tooth was not fixed. A crown was not put on. More dental work has to be done as a direct result of Dr. Lassell. * We have to pay out of pocket for all of the dental work due to the lack of cooperation we are having with Dr. Lassell and his staff. I just spoke with Dr.Lasell himself in regards to all of the problems we are having. His solution was to come into his office and have the crown placed on my husband's tooth. I asked if my husband, or myself, could film the office visit for our own safety and he SHOUTED "NO" and hung up on me! read more

Worst Dentist and a rip off. Told me I had to go to a specialist for a root canal after waiting for 1 hour (only saw him for 5 minutes). Also, my sister was to go back for more dental work and decided against it. He sent her a bill 2 mos. later saying he billed her wrong in the beginning so she needed to pay more. AND my friend went to have his teeth cleaned and he told him his teeth were too dirty and needed to go to a specialist. DON'T GO TO HIM!! read more

I've never written a review of a doctor or dentist before but I had to write one for Dr. Lasell warning people to not see him. I've sadly been going to him for the last few years and it wasn't until the last several months that I've realized how bad his work is. I've had failed work and it has caused me tremendous pain. I am now seeing a new dentist (Dr. Johnson in Bryan who I highly recommend) and hoping he can fully fix my issues which I believe Lasell caused. Please do not see him. Their office is dirty and not up-to-date compared to my new practice. I wish I had seen these reviews before I had work done. He appears nice but does not take the time with patients that he should. You feel hurried and like you are not being heard. Sad. this has cost me alot of money but moreso pain and suffering. read more

RUN, do not walk slowly away from this dentist. I had a crown done by him a year ago, and had to have it repaired by my NEW dentist who I am so glad I found. Also Lasell is greedy and downright rude. When I could not afford another crown and asked him to just use composite to build up the tooth until later, his replay was that "it isn't going to happen and that I needed to get my priorities straight" MY priorities??? He has no right to tell me that. He has no idea of what my bills are and how much was left on my dental insurance for the rest of the year. I found a new dentist just up the road from him, and they fixed the tooth with composite. I realize it won't last forever and I'll get a crown on it when my new dental insurance kicks in for the year. But in the meantime, I'm not walking around with a smile like a Halloween pumpkin.
