At first I was a little nervous because of the previous reviews.... But no way this place has a one star! EVERYONE was so nice. Front desk ladies were so friendly and welcoming. Horrible experience with this office. They cut me from their office after they were the ones who cancelled my appointment because my insurance was cut off. Now that it has been restored they won't allow me back from something they did from their office. What a joke!!!!! They said I cancelled when they called me to cancel my appointment due to my insurance cut. Believe me when she told me I need to go to another office . I spent almost two hours on the phone with the office trying to make an appointment for my son. I sent all the documents the agent at the office requested from me via text and email. I reached out to the insurance company to make sure Dr. Orta was selected as the referral. Today when I called the office, I was told by Ms. Sunny that she does not have any information on my son and no appointment was booked for today. She made me feel as if it were all my fault that the previous lady I emailed the documents to and spoke to has everything saved on her computer. The only thing she could see is that my son's account was created but does not know who did it. I asked her if I could speak with an office manager, and she told me that was not any and she could not help me further. I get the impression I was treated as such perhaps because my son is using Medicaid. read more

It took calling over 32 times over a 2 day period to finally reach a person. I had left 3 voice-mail the week before with no reply. I had asked the scheduling person if my body size would be a issues. She giggled and said no thats crazy that the Dr sees patients of all types. I was so thankful. I scheduled my apt which saddly it was over a month away and on my Birthday. But I had been dealing with pain for years, so a month more wasn't going to kill me. Nore was it going to kill me to do it on a special day. After all I had pushed it aside as a single mom for years to be able to care formy daughter on my own. Upon speaking with the Dr I tried explaining why my teeth were bad and explain why I chose to get them pull. But he didn't let me. He cut me off and started talking to the man who was shadowing him. He explained to the man that he sees this all the time. People see free on their insurance and try to pull good teeth over money. Funny enough I had already had 2 dentist look over my teeth. They both agreed that the request was reasonable and that they understood my back story. That the teeth were indeed in bad enough shape that they agreed pulling them out was reasonable.The both signed off on having them pulled. the first dentist being my main dentist and the second being who my dentures would be through. I was litterally just going to DR. ORTA to have my consult the the procedure. But apparently he thought it was better to belittled me rudely. Then I tried talking to him and explaining even more he got took it up a notch. After I refused to give up, he then went into talking about my age and how if I was worried about money that getting the pulled now would cost more later due to the bone mass shrinking. Again I said I am in pain. I would rather deal with my teeth being pulled and having to get implants or something later. That I just wanted this done so I could be free of pain and live normally even if it was for his estimated "30" years. Then he decided to tell me... after waiting there for 2 hours at this point that I was "to high on the obesity charts to be seen by him." That my weight was a issue and he would not work on me. This is after I had confirmed a month ahead of time that there was no issue in that department. He then told me that I am so over sized that no one out side of a hospital setting would work on me. Not my first time having surgery or extractions, but first time not having pain medicine afterward. I asked for an NSAID to be prescribed and I was told to use otc medicine and had to use Advil migraine and Tylenol after an impacted wisdom tooth and infected wisdom tooth were removed. I was swelling for 5 days using ice constantly waking up due to pain. This is unheard of. I had to pay to see a dentist about the dry socket, to get a rinse and NSAID prescribed because they also refused to see me due to something about not paying for something they wanted done that my insurance had refused, which I only learned about through insurance. read more

From the very first call when ZULIAN answered the phone, She was very kind and to include listened to my concerns with such an empathetic ear. This place is the worst!!!! Be aware! This practice does not care about their patients. Firstly, I had to drive 45 minutes just to schedule my appointment because they never answer the phone or return emails nor voicemails. I waited two hours in the lobby just for my exam. When I came for surgery. I asked the assistant what back tooth were they removing. She says the the Two bottom wisdom and one of the top. I said omg no . It's supposed to be the two top and one bottom. She had to re look and then go up to the front to change everything. Like wth!!!! I was even more terrified going into the surgery. After the surgery , three days later I was in so much pain I called them for help and she advised me to come in but said there was really nothing they could do. So I went in a week later for my checkup . The doctor never came in. Just had the assistant looked and said here is a prescription for Motrin you're free to go. I said I thought I have stitches to be removed she said let me have a look. Told me it's a bone not a stitch and it will heal over time. Now it is sharp like a needle and stabbing my inner cheek causing a sore and I also have one on the other side of my upper jaw. I also have strep throat now which I think is from their utensils. Awful, just awful! They never pick up the phone and have a major attitude problem. They do not inform patients of any requirements before their appointments. When you show up, they ask you if you have info that they should have informed you that you needed prior to the appointment. You have to continuously text (yes, TEXT) them to communicate with anyone in their office. It is poorly run and certainly could use some attitude adjusting. It is a bad case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing. And when you cannot read their mind as to what you need to bring in, it is somehow YOUR fault and the blame game ensues. I have been going to medical clinics, dentists and hospitals for decades and this place ranks the worst establishment I have ever set foot in. If your looking for hostility, confusion with a big heap of serious attitude problem thrown at you. Then great! You found your dentist. Liars! Told me they would waive the $85 "consultation fee" on the phone (I'm a college student) just to get me in the door, then demanded I pay it the day of the "consult" or no care. I have a hole in my wisdom tooth the size of a pencil eraser, referred to them by my primary dentist for extraction. Dr Orta extracted a tooth in feb 2019...paid out of pocket & gave them my dental insurance information. I didn't receive any statements from Dr's office or dental insurance until August 2019. For the 1st time I received a statement from Dr. Orta's office with a balance of $184.00 already stating balance was overdue. I called & spoke with receptionist to let them know no one made me aware I had a balance & I was upset because it states overdue. Secretary apologized and said there had been some type of glitch with their system & bills weren't getting out. I told her I would call my insurance to clarify why there was still balance. Upon reviewing the balance the insurance agent noticed an error & re-submitted the charges because it should have been billed as a in network Doctor. Insurance agent advised review would take some time to respond. I made Dr. Orta's office aware that charges were being re-submitted. Finally on November 05 I got a new statement with a lower balance of $136.80. I called and advised the receptionist that all I could pay is $25.00 monthly because I have lots of hospital bills due to 2 hospitalizations and currently unemployed. She advises me that I have to pay entire balance within the month or be sent to collections which will incur a finance fee of $90.00. I explained that it wasn't my fault that I received the 1st statement in August..she challenges me by saying that her system shows that 8 statements were mailed to me & that also I should have received information from my dental insurance. This isn't the 1st time I have used Dr. Orta's services & I have always paid my bills. It angers me that even after being in communication with office staff & making the effort to pay my bill the office management has no sympathy & takes such drastic measures for such a small balance. I have several $1000.00 bills to pay different hospital departments & they are accepting my $25.00 monthly payments. Sadly I am sure these rules are implemented by the Dr. himself. If you want to wait 2 hours to be seen and get an infection from the rust that is in the office - visit Dr. Orta. If you want your doctor to rush you through a medical procedure in less than a minute, not know any information about you, or make you feel like they could care less about you as an individual - visit Dr. Orta. By far the worst experience I have ever had and would NOT recommend him to anyone. I am so glad I left that office BEFORE he was able to operate on me. If you read reviews about him on any other website, it might say "5 stars" but I researched those website and the office is actually allowed to control what is shown. 2/6/18 Not a good doctor for children! No empathy for children or for patients parents. My 8 year old son is scared of needles. I wish he was tougher about it.. but he's 8. So after taking him to the back (alone) and spook him with no success.. of course. I'm asked to come to the back, where I am now permitted, to be addressed about his lack of cooperation. Before I can get down on a knee and coach my son up some more, the doctor said " it's done, can't do it, he has to go to the hospital to do it". Wiped his hands of it. Didn't care. My son literally said "he'd do it" after talking to me in the lobby immediately after. Nope they didn't care. It didn't matter my son's insurance does not cover the hospital that he suggested. It didnt matter we drove an hour and a half from Sarasota. Too late. I get it they have a schedule, but 5 mins extra? Give me a break.. have a little more empathy for people. So on the off chance that you ever get to read this doc.. I'd like to say sorry if you had a one o'clock tee time or whatever is so much more important in your life that 5 to 10 mins would of threw off your whole day. Don't see kids then! Also, I waited outside for you and your staff as I was there at my 7:30 appointment time, and you weren't open yet. I thought I had the wrong place. Bad business my friend. The secretaries have been in the past and are currently great at being flexible with scheduling and confirming. And Ms. Gomez ,the office manager, has been beyond exceptional!! I'm a person of many questions and she's been very patient in answering every single one!! She really broke down Care Credit and how the program works. She really explained (in detail) the implant procedure that I'm currently undergoing. And with my Hillsborough Co. insurance and my dental insurance, prices have been very reasonable. I set up an appointment to compare prices for wisdom teeth removal. I had been to two practices prior to seeing Dr. Robert Orta. I have to say the employees were rude and unwelcoming. I was charged a consultation fee in which my insurance and I paid like normal. But during my appointment, I was told that I had to retake a panoramic x-Ray because "they couldn't read the one I provided." The x-Ray I provided was taken by my dentist and both surgeons prior to Dr. Orta had no trouble reading it. They told me that I would NOT have to pay for this new panoramic. Now, I find myself having to call to dispute this bill. I am a full-time college student and I don't get paid much to just pay something for that amount. Something that I asked if it will be charged and being told that it wouldn't be. If both surgeons had no trouble reading the panoramic x-Ray I provided, why does Dr. Orta have trouble? I feel as though I was taken advantage of just because I look young. On top of that, they told my mother, seeing that I'm under her insurance, that she should've come with me and this wouldn't have happened. You never tell someone how to be a parent.
