I visited my new dentist for in Florida for some tooth pain, the dentist looked at my teeth, measured my pain and then said "I believe you need a root canal. I'm going to refer you to the endodontist." I was surprised they didn't just schedule me for a root canal in that office. I made an appointment with Citrus Endodontics on W. Kennedy Blvd. in South Tampa. Frank Berdos DMD MS examined my teeth and confirmed both teeth were in need of root canals. I could have cried right there. I've had root canals before and they are awful when it's one at a time. Now I was facing two. I was presented a treatment plan and cautioned of the risks. Dr. Berdos did the work immediately. It was quick and virtually painless. He was understanding of my dental care phobias and gentle both physically and in his explanations. As a Florida newbie I was pretty confused as to why I needed to see a separate dentist to get a root canal. I was fairly upset with the prospect of waiting until a specialist could "fit me in". Everywhere I've ever gone prior to living in Florida has offered root canals in the office when one is warranted. Well I'm converted. There is something to be said about someone who does nothing but root canals all day every day. His expertise was evident in so many ways. This experience was miles better than any other experience I've had getting root canals. I believe this experience was even less painful than some tooth cleanings I've had. The reception staff was professional and expedient, the support staff was kind and knowledgeable, the Dr. worked quickly and efficiently finishing 2 root canals faster than I've ever received even one in the past. Today aside from a small ache (expected from that amount of dental work) I'm doing better than I have done in months. This morning I received a call from Citrus Endodontics to check on my welfare. If you find yourself in need of a root canal (or two ) I couldn't recommend this this practice more. read more

Needless to say great office but horrible management. I was employed here for shortly of 2 weeks, At the job interview manager Chris stated that the position was very hard to withhold due to certain personality's and I never grasp what she's meant by that until I had shortly stayed there for a couple of days witnessing the nasty behavior and training skills this older lady had. It's really saddens me that I was employed by such management that spoke badly about other employees and brought them down to their lowest. Please consider and choose somewhere else to be employed by.. Great Doctors but really poor management. I would be ashamed of yourself to be at that level professionally and bully a pregnant employee... shame on you and shame on Citrus Endo. read more

The staff was so friendly and helpful, starting with the receptionist, then the doctor assistant, Tina, did all she could to to put me at ease and doctor Gari was so professional and courteous that I would like to see more doctos being like he was . This office charges you 20$ for PPE at your evaluation!! That was not told to me up front, and had I known that I would have brought them some. I came in with my own mask. I didn't use anything of theirs! The front desk really has some issues going on or something! Extremely rude, and not helpful! When people behave as she did I pray for them. She obviously has some unresolved anger going on. It wasn't just me she was so customer service challenged with, as the ones on the phone set her off too! :( UPDATE. Calling my Insurance Co. this office is NOT allowed to charge extra for PPE at this time. They are also not supposed to as a Preferred Provider charge the Patient for services before billing the INSURANCE Co. You decide, for me I will not be back and I will let others know if this. I am from out of town and needed a root canal right away. Thankfully they were able to squeeze me in! Dr Frank Is very skilled, professional and concerned about your pain free wellbeing. I was very apprehensive about this procedure, but I experienced less discomfort than an average routine cleaning. I could not recommend him any more highly, I would not hesitate to send my friends, family and loved ones to him and his wonderful staff! On a side note there is parking directly below the office which is located on the second floor with elevator and stair access. It reminds me of a stilt style home. read more

It's scary enough going to the dentist, now can you imagine being 6 and going to see an Endodontist (sp)? Well, I have to say, Dr. Frank and Christine are AMAZING. They took such wonderful care of my daughter. They were kind, patient, and just pleasant. Even when she wasn't so willing to sit still. I would 100% recommend this practice to anyone who is in need. I rarely write bad reviews- however their disrespect for my time was a huge factor. I went in today for my daughters root canal completion with dr Melissa. Our appt was for 10:30am. I arrived by 10:10am, my daughter waited in the waiting room till 12pm. According to the office manager, they had an emergency patient. However there were several patients in and out before we left close to 1pm. You would think a patient who made an appt weeks in advance would come first? They also did not communicate to me during the wait that there was a longer wait due to XYZ. No word on why the wait was so long. We felt very disrespected by the staff and the dentist. read more

I had absolutely the worst experience with a root canal with this group. Forget the fact that there was an error in my root canal (which I'll get into) they are completely unavailable for any follow up care, which is quite possibly worse. I received a root canal on a Friday afternoon on two teeth by Dr. Visbal. When administering the anesthesia she directly hit my IA nerve registering a huge jolt and shock. I was not anticipating this and had never had a medical procedure go wrong. I cried and was fearful throughout the rest of the procedure. When asked if the doctor was going to do that (hit my nerve) again she said no but then proceeded to give me more anesthesia while I was expressly staring I didn't want to get shocked again. After that traumatic event I ended up with parasthesia and half my face is still numb days later. We tried getting in touch over the weekend and did not get a call back and when I called at 8 am on Monday morning requesting a phone call and medicine from not only my doctor but from the founding doctor, it was not returned. Now four days later and multiple messages and calls no one has gotten back to me regarding the horrible customer service that I experienced. I let my referring dentist know of this horrible experience and cautioned her form referring other patients to them going forward. Forget the bad root canal, the after patient care is atrocious and my face is still numb with no follow up. Steer clear!!! read more

Dr. Demirjian told me that I did not need surgery just another root canal for a tooth at a consult exam.He did another root canal on that tooth. When I went back for the recheck, he said " I was afraid of that. The infection has returned." Then he said, now you need surgery. I found another endodontist to perform that surgery. Find another endodontist! read more

Very impressed with the level of service I received here. My regular dentist is out of town and referred me to Citrus Endodontics to re cement my temporary crown. BEWARE of this place, all of the girls are "very nice" but airheads. It took 3 people a total of 6 times to get 1 x-ray done of 1 tooth, they require certain testing that I've never had done anywhere else. It seems like all they care about is getting your money here. I came to get a root canal done, just for a consultation w/a referral it was about 75$, but if "you choose" to get the procedure THAT day then they will waive the fee, if not you have to pay it. My lawyer wrote Dr. Dennis Demirljian about Malissa Vacharakiat not following the standard of care , in my opinion, by taking needed X-ray, and as a result, did not find my infection and I have now a hole in my mouth as tooth had to be removed. Excellent job. They called to check on me. I literally didn't feel a thing. Well, except for a few shots of Novacaine they gave me before the root canal. The pain from the shots was minimal because they used and oral numbing gel first. I would highly recommend going there if you need a root canal. read more

I needed 3 root canals & I've heard the horror stories. My amazing dentist highly recommended a consult to see an endodontist. This office is AMAZING. The hygienists are personable & Dr. Demirjian comes in & sits face to face & explains the procedure. The office manager comes in & discusses cost & reiterates the treatment plan. At each stage they do not move forward unless they're sure they've answered all of your questions. The only pain I felt during the actual procedure was the tiny prick from the numbing medicine. Let me start by saying you are in GREAT, experienced hands here. This practice came highly recommended and thankfully they take my insurance! I needed a root canal and didn't realize how quickly I needed to schedule it after having a temporary crown done with my regular dentist. Within a few days of getting the temporary crown my pain level was off the charts due to an exposed nerve. I called Citrus Endodontics and they fit me in same day. The lady I spoke to, Maria, said she could hear the pain in my voice. As I had never been here before I was so amazed at how they worked to ensure I was seen ASAP. Dr Frank Berdos saw me and the first thing he said was 'we are going to get you out of pain'. He was incredibly gentle, explained everything before he did it, kept asking how I was doing and truly was very kind. Gizelle who was assisting him, took great care of me and made me laugh because I was nervous. Dr. D examined my tooth very thoroughly, x-rays and was able to save my tooth! Without any pain at all. His work is excellent! I was referred to the Citrus team for an emergency root canal the Friday before Christmas by another office who assured me that these folks were the best in town - they were definitely spot on! I got a root canal today, and it was performed by Dr. Brent Mayer and the dental assistant Gee. They were both amazing! True rockstars. They explained everything, their communication with each other and with me was like the epitome of a great marriage! Everything was perfect, even down to their tone of voice! If I could have the pair of them for the rest of my medical procedures I would call on them for sure. They constantly checked on me and explained every noise I heard and every action that was completed and why beforehand. I can't believe i'm saying this, but my root canal went great! I must say the staff and Doctors at Citrus Endodontics do an exceptional job of explaining procedures and calming patients. During my procedure I had a bit of an anxiety attack, Doctor Malissa gave me time to gather myself while Christine tended to me with great care and compassion. After a few minutes we were back to work, the root canal was completed, and I left as happy as could be expected for a guy who just had this procedure performed.
