Robert did a PHENOMENAL job photographing our wedding. Hiring him was definitely the best decision we made for our entire wedding! I have raved about him to all my friends and recommend him to everyone I know! Everyone should hire Robert! If in 5 years we feel the need to get more pictures of us, we will definitely be going back to Robert. From the first contact Robert was quick to respond to my emails and promptly worked to set up a time to meet in person or via Skype. We set up a meeting in Anaheim (which was quite a trek for him) and we immediately knew he was the right photographer for us. He was friendly, easy-going and so much fun. He was a great fit for us! We were a bit concerned about wedding photos because my husband and I are not photo people. I think we had 3 photos of us in existence before the wedding. We don't pose and take photos...its just not us. Robert assured us he could work well with us, despite our general aversion to posing...and he didn't disappoint. Robert stayed in contact before the wedding, and had a final phone call to make sure we were all on the same page. The day of the wedding he arrived early with his awesome assistant Kenny (although I'm still sad we didn't get to meet Felicia!). They acquainted themselves to our home/property and got to work. They were fun, polite and just great to work with. We did all our formal photos before the wedding and Robert has an amazing eye for what will make a great photo. He took photos in areas of our property that wouldn't have even occurred to me and the results are just incredible. He didn't try to pose us, he just had us talk and laugh and kiss and the photos turned out amazing! We then got the families/wedding party together and Robert quickly and efficiently worked through our rather large combination of families. He and Kenny got all sorts of great moments during the ceremony and reception without being obtrusive at all. He also reminded us when it was time to take some sunset photos and a couple other important moments throughout the day (we didn't have a wedding planner). He also gets into some amazing places for photo opportunities...on the ground, in the bouncy house, there may have been a forklift...he just does it all in stride! The sunset photos are some of my favorites! He has some incredible methods to create gorgeous effects. Everyone keeps raving about how perfect the colors are. He got us a teaser the SAME DAY of the wedding, blogged an additional 20 photos about 5 days later, and he uploaded/mailed our entire set of wedding photos just 8 days after the wedding! I'm sure his timeline varies based on the season and we were "off-wedding season," but I never thought I would get the photos so quickly! And they are fabulous! We have 531 amazing pictures from the 7 hours he was with us, for a very reasonable price. The composition is perfect, the colors are amazing. Everyone we've shown has just raved about how amazing the photos are. Its been almost impossible trying to choose our favorites for framing and photobooks. Not only is his photographer just awesome but his presence also made our day better. He's such a fun, positive person! I am so glad we hired Robert. Robert Paetz is an amazing photographer! He did our engagement photos back in May and recently did our wedding on October 25, 2014. He is able to capture the most natural moments of joy with my husband and I. We had the pleasure of him and wife, Felicia, to do the engagement photos and they are so fun and never give you a dull moment. Felicia had to go out of town for school but Robert assured us that he would get an assistant for the wedding. Kenny was his assistant for the wedding photos and he was so accommodating and very sweet. He fixes the little things like for instance if your hair is out of place, he'll make sure it's in place. He even took out my black hair tie from my wrist. Those little things definitely matter if you want the best photos. After the wedding ceremony, we took photos with our families. When it got hectic with taking photos, Robert was able to organize the picture taking! He was there from start to finish! I can't even imagine how the reception photos will look. From the engagement photos to the wedding photos he was able send some teasers via email the day after. We love the fact that he does this and gets us excited for more photos! Robert Paetz was our engagement and wedding photographer. We got married on November 2017 in Orange County, CA. How did we hear about him, you say? Actually, he also photographed my brother-in-law's wedding in 2011, so thank you to Mike for doing the work of researching photographers. lol I worked as the day-of-coordinator and just had an amazing time with them (at the time Robert's "second", i.e. the other photographer, was his wife Felicia, who is also an amazing photographer in her own right). They were sweet, accommodating, thoughtful, and excellent photographers. I knew after seeing our sibling's pictures, that at the time we finally decide to get married, they would be our photographers. Flash forward six years later, we finally decided it was time. We had already developed a pretty decent social media friendship in that six years, so it was easy enough to set an appointment, but otherwise, hit him up on his website or phone number, and he's super quick to respond. In that time, they had moved out of their home in LA and started a new life and career in Seattle, taking Felicia away as the second (we cried a little about this as it was one of our firm requests haha). However, Robert is a seasoned photographer, has great connections, is very flexible, and on the day of our wedding came with a great second (Kari or Carrie? I'm terrible with names and apologize to her for forgetting her name :X). They kept us calm, came on time, and took fantastic photos. Robert is super fun to work with. He's got an easy going charisma that makes you want to be friends with him. I've worked with plenty of amateur photographers, photography enthusiasts (I'm one of them), and seasoned professional photographers, one who is the go to photographer for the Heinz family (yeah, the ketchup millionaires) and several models, and by far Robert has been the easiest and one of the BEST to work with. Our engagement shots at Disneyland made us feel like we were the only ones in the packed theme park. He makes you feel valued and despite the hourly nature of this work, he doesn't make you feel rushed. When I get to the point of having extra cash on hand (and a family), I also want him to do our family photos. If I get enough cash, I want him to be our personal family photographer, following us on our adventures, if he is still interested in doing boring photography work far into the future hahaha. Robert loves to travel, so he can work with most couples on the west coast and Hawaii, and can still reasonably price his rate to compete with any local photographer. I got all the pictures I needed, and it was worth every penny. If you are a couple getting ready to make the decision on a wedding photographer package, don't cheap out and go with less experienced people, or just one photographer. The second (photographer) is more important than you think. I opted to not get video and just go with a great photographer and I don't regret it at all. If you haven't already checked out his website, he's also an amazing night photographer (which make for excellent engagement shots if you have the proper night sky) and even more amazing NGO (non-governmental organization) photographer. This guy has a heart of gold, the patience of a staid family St. Bernard being pulled on by naughty toddlers, and a sense of humor that can unfreeze even the stiffest of couples. Somehow he's even able to change the hearts of bridezillas, or overbearing family members. While this ended up being a longer review than I thought, I also want to mention that Robert works with a great print shop. The last thing you need once you have amazing photos is to print them at Costco or your local drug store. We bought a canvas of one of our favorite engagement photos and a few large prints to showcase at our church on the day of the wedding, and they all turned out really beautiful. We intend to print our wedding photos for our one year and send them out with our thank you cards (suuuuper late, we know) in the next couple of months. Definitely worth it! read more

This is a dreadfully long overdue review but an important one! I can't recommend Robert Paetz more highly for wedding photography. He is a consummate professional, a great guy, and someone you can trust with your wedding memories - after all, the photos are the one thing that will last throughout the years! For that reason, photos were a top priority for my husband and me when planning and budgeting our wedding. I found Robert via a recommendation on a wedding forum, loved his portfolio of photos, and was so excited to learn that he'll travel anywhere in SoCal without an extra fee. I have yet to learn of any other photographers who offer that same service! Robert has excellent communication with clients, and I never had any cause for concern from the time we retained him to the day we got our photos. I was blown away by how many finished photos we received and how quickly we got them. We were still on our honeymoon when he posted the sneak peek of our photos on his blog! His professional wedding albums are also top notch, and he did a fantastic job with the layout of ours and was very easy to work with as far as asking him to swap out some photos for the ones we liked more. We married in September, and we received our finished leather-bound album before Christmas, along with two smaller albums for our parents so we were able to give them as Christmas gifts! Robert is LGBT+ friendly - and I mention that because, while that was not a direct concern for us as a cis hetero couple, I hope throwing that term in this review might make it easier for him to pop up in search results if any LGBT+ couples are googling photographers. I hired Robert to take family photos at parents' house a few days ago. 5 sleep deprived adults and 10 month old twins was no easy task, but Robert was amazing. He was prompt, professional, and so fun to work with. The babies, predicably, by the end of the hour and a half had had enough, but Robert used his expertise to get the most amazing shots so we had everything we needed before the meltdown occurred. Can we give Robert and Felicia 10 stars? Words cannot express how grateful we are that Robert and Felicia were part of our wedding process and wedding day. After spending hours researching on-line, we made 2 appointments to meet potential photographers. We met Robert and Felicia and were instantly impressed not only by their professionalism but also their general easy-going nature. Instead of walking us through their packages and albums, we spent the majority of time walking through our vision of the day. By the end, we found we had a skeletal timeline to work with. During the process, we got to know one another. We asked a ton of questions; they gave great answers. I asked, "What is your favorite part of the wedding day?" His answer, the couple shoot because he knew that one would end up on the mantle. Her answer, the special unexpected moments...She noted that the pictures will last much longer than we will. They are documenting memories for our descendants. They pointed out how important it was for a couple to feel comfortable with their photographer because the couple will spend more time with them than anyone else -- even the spouse! We were surprised how long we were chatting and by the end of the meeting, we felt like we were talking to friends. Our engagement shoot was at Vasquez Rocks. They were early and discovered a glitch in the parking. They called us and asked if we would mind a bit of hiking, and by the time we arrived, they had a new plan worked out. The shoot itself was a lot of fun. Robert and Felicia are easy to relate to and quite entertaining. They put us at ease, and time went by quickly. We caught a glimpse of their initial shots and were wowed. The images were posted on their blog and on-line within days and our CD of images within a week. On our wedding day, they were at the venue early despite a closed freeway. They were calm which set the tone for all. I was impressed by their ability to manage a group of multiple personalities without losing focus. They were even able to get my 1.5 year old nephew to hold a pose for a large family shot. Throughout the event, you knew they were there without noticing that they were. One of our guests described them to have an arsenal of cameras and was impressed with their ability to move about the crowd without getting in the way. Robert could anticipate when a good candid shot would arise. He'd have his camera drawn even before our friends said, "Ready? 1, 2, 3..." Yes, Robert and Felicia are talented and professional, but what we will always remember about them are the personal touches. Throughout the event, Felicia would ask what I needed. She started bustling my dress when there was lag time between pictures. She beat the servers to get us a drink at dinner. And heck, how many photographers would offer to be our getaway car at the end of the event? Within hours of our wedding, Robert and Felicia posted a dozen highlight photos on a domain they created to pacify guests who were weary of our unplugged ceremony. The most frequent comment i received was "That looks straight out of a magazine" or "Those look like ads for dream weddings". His strongest skill that I praise is his ability to catch and modify the lighting outcome to appear ANY time of day or SunSet/Rise you desire. Also, Robert is an agile man for 6'3". He was spiderman all over our venue which had multi-levels offering many angle options BUT I have no idea how he leaped so fast for single events that happened in minutes. He planned VERY WELL. His communication with our family and guests was very professional and kind and sensative on a day when they were all running around like mindless aliens with emotions. You WANT someone who works well with lemmings on this day! You also want someone who communicates well with the venue, coordinator, and videographer, and DJ (who controlled our lighting) I admit we had alot of design concepts that we couldn't predict would cause complexity when it came to lighten and photography and THAT is why you need someone seasoned like Robert. He was more than I budgeted to spend but he arrived almost an hour early and stayed longer than contracted for. Top of the line gear and equipment and speedy turn around. He also hosted our photos on blog early so we could share with our guests. And made recommendations for different online services / products. I don't need to say much about their photos because you can just see by looking at their past work that they are masters of light, angles, color, and making an ordinary setting appear like the most beautiful setting on the face of the planet. I don't even know if a star rating system would appropriately describe our experience with Robert and Felicia! They deserve more than 5 stars. As my now-husband and I planned our wedding, photography was our top priority, outside of the venue location. He's a photographer so you could imagine that the "standard posed wedding photography" wasn't going to work. We went into this vendor search process just wanting good products -- but with Robert and Felicia, it was an awesome surprise that not only could we get the amazing photos but ALSO two easy-going, fun people with whom we could enjoy our wedding!! We were planning our Los Angeles wedding from the east coast so we started this journey with a phone call. It wasn't all about just the prices and a list of products, but they helped us talk through our vision of the entire day. The whole conversation eventually became a discussion of all sorts of wonderfully random things both wedding-related and not. By the end of the phone call, we had a basic timeline and the certainty that these two photographers *needed* to be at our wedding. The first time we met them in person was at our engagement shoot a few months before our wedding. Felicia was my contact person for this and I had a pretty clear vision. She was so open to and excited for my ideas -- I became extra excited that someone else loved my ideas! The first meeting was amazing for several noteworthy reasons: 1. They let us shoot at two different locations with two different themes. 2. Robert bust out some amazing Eagle Scout abilities to set up our rustic tent setting. 3. You know the times when you meet some new people, you just click, and you can totally imagine being friends? Yep, it was like that for me -- which made me really comfortable during the shoot. On our wedding day in August, they were at the venue early and despite all the craziness, they were cool, calm, and collected. It also helped tremendously that Felicia could speak to my family in Chinese! Within a few days, we received our sneak peak of a handful of images, which we really loved! About a month later, we received our full set of photos in an online gallery and a cute little package with our USB drive included! It was November 2016 when my husband and I were in a rush to find a photographer to take our engagement photos. We had originally found someone via a FaceBook ad and after this photographer took our engagement photos in September 2016 (they were so awful) we could not use one of them for our save the date. Needless to say, my husband and I had a very bad experience the first time around. This time we wanted to ensure that the photographer we found was professional and credible, so we started our search on Yelp. We reached out to the top 3 photographers with the best reviews and felt moved by their work; Robert was the quickest to respond. After a brief phone conversation and receiving our quote, my husband and I felt connected and ready to move forward with Robert to do our engagement photos. We met Robert in downtown Seattle and started our day taking photos at P.F. Chang's China Bistro (where my husband and I met). We took photos in front of the restaurant as well as inside at a booth, and although my husband doesn't ever like being posed for photos, he felt at ease and comfortable with Robert. We continued the day at Pike Place Market and ended by the waterfront as the sun set. Our engagement photos were so amazing, we could not have dreamt for any better. Robert had a way to allow both of us to be ourselves and to capture our true personalities in print. We were relaxed, and the photos reflected that. We had a hard time choosing which one to use for our save the date, but settled for one that showed the P.F. Chang's sign, since that's where it all began for us. Once we received our engagement photos, we knew that we wanted Robert to do our wedding photos. We had a destination wedding in California, but were willing to pay the price to have Robert travel because we wanted our pictures to turn out great the first time around. Needless to say, we called Robert to secure him down for our big day. He was available, and happily agreed to do our wedding. He had never been to our venue before, however we trusted his eye and his ability to quickly find the best locations to take great photos. We provided Robert with a list of photos we wanted taken the morning of the wedding, family photos after the wedding, and left the rest to his creativity. My husband had a fun time joking with Robert as he was taking our romantic sunset photos--that's how comfortable my husband felt with him. Robert photographed our wedding in mid-December and it was wonderful. To start off, he was flexible and willing to travel to Colombia to spend a whole weekend with us and that right there shows how committed he is to his work and customers. He was great to have around, always with his camera ready to capture a candid moment but never making you feel watched or uncomfortable. He is very friendly, easy going, and polite, making him the perfect photographer for such an intimate moment in your life. It was like having a friend around and all our family and friends really liked him!   His photographic skills and gear are incredible and you can tell that he is a professional in 2 minutes! He was extremely efficient and organized when taking the "official" post-ceremony photos with both of our families. Then he took us away from the guests for a more intimate photo session that turned out beautifully. Later during the party, at around 9 pm or so, he ran to my wife and I and said that the stars were out and that we could try a short astrophotography shoot. The photos are breathtaking! He was able to light us using various flashes and filters and still get the stars to show in the sky--wow! Only a photographer with great skills, creativity, and experience can pull this off. We received our final photos very quickly--3 weeks or so which is faster than what we've heard it takes other photographers--and we couldn't be happier with the end result!   As a whole, our experience with Robert was incredible and we can't recommend it him enough. Robert was recommended to me by another photographer whose pictures I liked but was booked on our wedding date. Because the pictures were so important to me, I was in contact with several photographers and took a lot of time to study each and pick the best fit. Robert was "the one" without a doubt. His pictures were stunning, he was so helpful and professional in our pre-wedding meeting, and his professionalism on the day of made him the vendor MVP. We were both feeling the nerves on the day of but Robert made us feel so relaxed and ourselves even while posing that the pictures turned out incredibly. He helped me with a wardrobe malfunction when a button popped off my dress train right before the ceremony (he studied theater in college and had experience with wardrobe issues), he handled bossy relatives with ease ("get a picture of this," "make sure you get a shot of..."), he was a pleasure to be around, and felt like a part of the family after all was said and done. We can't say enough about Robert. We initially booked him to take our engagement photos. My wife was nervous about being comfortable and taking such important photos with a stranger. Within five minutes of meeting Rob, she was completely at ease, joking and laughing. The engagement session went great. Rob even delivered the completed photos within a few days. We were so happy with the photos that we decided to book Rob for our wedding. Rob made the entire process seamless and easy. He provided any documentation needed to our vendors and wedding planner as soon as requested and even contacted another location for us to take first look photos. We LOVE LOVE LOVE Robert and Felicia! One of the best decisions we made was to hire this amazing duo as our photographers for our wedding day. Not only did we end up with amazing and beautiful pictures for our engagement as well as of our wedding day, but we found two really great people that share our love for food! I wish we lived closer so we could be food buddies! Robert and Felicia have a great gift of being able to make you feel comfortable and at ease with the entire process. From the moment we met them, we were smitten. They are friendly, easy to work with, and they respond very quickly, even though they are busy busy people. Plus, they are totally flexible and willing to work with you in any way they can. We were able to fly them out to NYC to take our engagement photos (and Robert was totally ok with us using miles and dealing with annoying layovers) and the photos turned out beyond our expectations. Come weeks before our wedding, and Robert and Felicia helped ease our stress by helping us with our timeline and even scoping out possible places in Orange County to take photos with our bridal party. On the day of the wedding, Felicia was amazing, helping make sure that everything was taken care of so I wouldn't have to worry--she even bustled my dress for me. Both Robert and Felicia showed up on time and were amazing throughout the entire day. When they emailed us our pictures a few weeks later, they were so beautiful we ended up asking them to make albums for us! My only complaint about these two is that I wish they would have stayed and partied with us longer!!!!! Wow where do we start? Robert is just awesome! He went above and beyond on our wedding day, before and after. First off, as a photographer, he knows his craft. It started with our first in person meeting where it was clear that he's been in the biz for awhile. He knew all the right questions to ask. He had great suggestions for a fun and smooth wedding day. He made it clear that he was invested in us as a couple. He listened carefully to what we had to say. He cared to know about family drama (even if minimal) so he could do whatever was in his capacity to make everyone, especially us, as comfortable as possible. Come wedding day, he really was the one vendor we spent the most time with. He did his homework ahead of time, picking places to take photos. He was able to navigate our wedding venue (our house) to find my shoes, ring, and dress to photograph without bothering anyone. When we were ready to take couple photos, Robert was so efficient. He knew exactly where he wanted us and how he wanted to take to pictures. He was patient as we asked for many different family and friend photo combinations. Robert likes to capture people in the moment rather than in poses, which creates for great shots. But even when we did poses, he made sure our posed photos looked as natural as we could. Robert has a great eye for detail, which showed in his presentation. He was creative with backgrounds, making a small grove of trees look like a forest or people in the background into small fuzzy objects. He worked quickly! We were surprised when we got to see our photos only 1 week later when he featured our best pics on his wedding blog. A couple weeks later, he provided us the full set of pictures online as well as sent us a USB with all of our photos nicely organized. The packaging of the USB was so thoughtful and special. He included a lovely note, the USB was in jewelry box with a personalized tag on it, and he included a few prints for us to enjoy. As if this wasn't enough, where he went above and beyond was when our wedding reception started and the rain came pouring down. Even though our reception was under a tent, it was not exactly rain proof in some parts. Robert jumped right in there lending a hand, keeping the band dry, helping the caterers rearrange the flow of the evening, and checking in on me and reassuring me that everything is under control. He got SOAKED in the process but didn't let that bother him. He was always professional and cool, and even more amazingly, good natured through it all. So many people recognized ad commented to us about how above and beyond he went. And on top of that, we have received so many compliments on how amazing our pictures were. We were honored to have such an awesome person be part of our day and capture our most important moments. I would not hesitate to hire Robert again for any special occasion. read more

I never considered another photographer for my wedding. From the first time I saw Robert and Felicia's work, I knew I wanted to work with them. They are both two of the warmest, kindest people I've ever met, in addition to being incredibly talented. Robert is a phenomenal photographer. My husband was a groomsman in two weddings where Robert was the photographer and had such a great experience that we didn't even think to meet with anyone else. Wedding photography can sometimes end up looking generic, but Robert has a unique eye that makes your photos stand out. When this whole wedding planning business began I tasked my photography-loving-fiancé with the project of finding us a photographer. He went to work and a few days later giddily announced that he had found them--Robert and Felicia of Robert Paetz Photography. He showed me their website and blog and I was instantly drawn in with their gorgeous work. We met with them to take "Engagement Photos" a few months later. When setting up our appointment they were VERY accommodating to our difficult schedules. The day of they arrived promptly (ok they beat us to the photo site), and before we even began shooting we knew they were perfect for us--Felicia and Robert are fun, outgoing and so very easy to get along with! We spent the whole shoot laughing with them, trading geeky jokes and travel stories. To make everything even more perfect our photos were GORGEOUS--our friends are still talking about them a full year later! Fast forward to our wedding day, Felicia and Robert made the 3 hour drive to our ceremony site, they were there early, and jumped right into the action--we had a bit of a cluster that day and they were right there helping with everything. Felicia hung out with me while I was getting ready snapping photos while we laughed and chatted. Rob spent the time with my fiancé running around helping him set stuff up and capturing it all along the way. The photos from our wedding, from the small details to the group shots and the first look photos are simply stunning! They rolled with our craziness, snapping photos as we donned storm trooper helmets and as the sun began to set the directed us for another set of awesome couples photos. We received our photos from them over a pint of beer less than 2 weeks after the wedding--score! We could not have been happier than we are with Felicia and Rob, their kindness and generosity are only topped by their AMAZING photography skills. From the beginning of the whole process they made everything feel like they were simply old friends who were helping us out rather than someone we had hired. They made everything very personal (our CD's and cases all feature pictures of us, and our Christmas card from them is a photo of us--seriously they are inflating our egos one awesome picture of us at a time).
