We worked with Hank twice in June for both our engagement photos and wedding photos. Hank was a pleasure to work with both time and he arrived at both venues at least 30 minutes early to scope it out. This is a very late review of Hank's work. My fiancé hired Hank to capture our engagement back in May. Hank was well-prepared and made us feel so comfortable during the shoots. I wish there was a way to give Hank 10 stars! He's an amazing photographer who really cares about his clients needs. We've had the pleasure of working with him 3 times - Our wedding, maternity photos, and our baby's first birthday/family photos. He's delivered beyond our expectations every single time. He's also very warm, so we always feel comfortable around him. If you're worried about how you're going to pose, don't worry, he knows what to do. Also, I can't stand it when I hire photographers and they just stiffly stand there taking pictures. You know the vendor is amazing when you plan your event around their availability. My husband and I changed our daughter's first birthday event date just so we could have this photographer - because he was fully booked for weddings the other days. He is that amazing!!! Long overdue review. We went back and forth over getting family photos done during COVID, but the more we thought about it, the more appropriate it seemed. We knew we wanted our backdrop to be DTLA, a place that holds history for us and has gone through so much in 2020. Hank knew the area well. He provided great guidance for poses, but also got some treasured candids of us as a family. With us juggling a toddler and all that travels with her, his wife was super helpful throughout the shoot. For most of the time, our 1 year old was almost inconsolable (going through a phase with strangers), but Hank nonetheless captured the very rare moments she smiled. He and his wife even got her to smile! Finally, I'm pretty paranoid about contracting COVID, and they never once removed their masks or made me feel uncomfortable. We were so impressed with the resulting photos, which included digital images and quality prints. We ended up using one of the images for holiday postcards to family and friends we haven't seen during this continual lockdown. We came on Saturday morning right at open and they took my photos in 5 minutes and knew all of the regulations for hair/framing. Then they took 4-5 options had me select one. I just got the best passport photo I've ever had, quickly, and for only $10. I called to check if walk-ins were welcome (they are.) I found street parking a block away. You may want to call first, as he mentioned the studio would be closed later in the afternoon. I arrived as the second out of four people needing passport photos; we all arrived within a few minutes. Hank took care of everyone quickly and efficiently. He was knowledgeable about the strict standards for Taiwanese passport photos (ears must be clearly visible!), so I was sure he'd do a great job on my common US photos. He took seven shots, giving direction as he took them, and showed me all seven. The photo is great--sharp, well-lit, flattering, and he managed to get a natural smile out of me (hard to do). My family had never taken a family portrait before, so I thought it was time. My parents were even opposed to the idea of paying money to get our pictures taken, but I convinced them that this will be really good. However on the inside I was a little nervous too, since it was my first time getting pictures taken as well. We were so awkward, but Mr. Nam and his wife were so friendly and made us feel comfortable. They were especially really good with my Korean-speaking parents, which made me feel so much more at ease. You can tell that they are so experienced and professional. They directed us with every detail including posture, hands, feet, hair, smile, everything-- to get the best pictures possible. Overall we all had a great experience. I'm really glad that we went with Mr. Nam. The pictures came out beautifully and my parents are extremely pleased. The prints are so professional and beautiful.
