Immediately struck by the quality of the recordings, I was attracted to the energy of openness, and impressed by the relative lack of commercialization, compared to other meditation resources. It truly is geared towards health & wellbeing, steering clear of some of the 'tropes' and consumerism that I have found in other podcasts for meditation. The immense qualifications of Dr. Robert Puff also are a huge benefit -- in an era where many in the digital space profess to know so much, it is reassuring to know that you are in the 'hands of an expert' when listening to this podcast. I have always appreciated the pace and gentle focus of each session, Dr. Robert Puff has an aura of nonjudgment and safety in his language and message. But the podcast is great because you get his wise words straight. There is a podcast episode for almost any occasion. If you are burned out at work, or going through a break up, or anxious, or depressed, or hate Mondays, he'll give you *tough but effective* instructions for how to stop sabotaging yourself and start living well. A lot of the lessons revolve around: Detachment (accepting that things are not going to go the way you wish they would), gratitude, living in the now, slowing down, watching your thoughts, and not always reacting quickly to what live brings. What I've enjoyed about my experience with Robert is that he has a deeper, more well-rounded view of the human being. I am a huge advocate for science as a way to explain the world, but I love how Robert doesn't stop with the science. Since then we listen to one of his old episodes almost every morning while we wake up and get ready for the day. They are very wise and useful messages with lots of great short stories and suggestions for living a happy and peaceful life. I have experienced lots of trauma in my life and have worked hard to process, overcome and move forward finding happiness from each juncture, mostly successfully. I find myself at another crossroads inviting me to find someone to coach me through more work. The most illuminating thing I have found from listening is this question.. to overcome trauma, resolve the past to facilitate moving forward and having a happy life.. is is requisite to revisit, wrestle with and experience the pain of the trauma in order to resolve it? Or much too simply put, can Dr. Poff's approach help us to navigate forward in such a powerful way that the past becomes the past because we can experience joy and happiness, a beautiful life, establishing trust that the past cannot hurt us anymore.
