Whilst I was there, buying a new pair of glasses, they repaired and cleaned up my old pair for no charge. They selected several glasses and gave me very straight forward - non-salesy - advice. Sure a lot of the glasses available are at the higher price range, but I'm totally sold. Would have bought two pairs had they not cleaned up my old one so well! Never mind, they have my business for life now.

The optician i saw was absolutely lovely, and when i got contact lenses for the first time they were profession l and incredibly helpful, checking to see i hadn't blinded myself or gone blind after a weeks trial. They have a great service where you can pay a direct debit monthly and your lenses get delivered to your door so there's no need to go to the store. I often have to pop in and get my glasses tightened, and they're always happy to see me (or just super friendly). They have a good stock of glasses and will help advice you on a shape and style to suit your face. My only complaint is that they didn't have spare contact lenses in here one day when one of mine fell out into my salad. Oh, and they're expensive too, but they seem to work with lots of local business's to offer good deals.

For those who wear glasses or contact lenses, you know that this can be very expensive, paying for your eye test to buying your specs or contact lenses. Compared to other optician I have visited, Specsavers offers lenses at reasonable prices and great offers on designer frames. The last time I went into the Kingsland Road branch, the person that served me was very helpful by assisting me in choosing the right frames for my face. It took me over 2hours to make a choice on the frame I wanted and he was very patient with me. I had to make sure I choose the right frames, as I will be stock with them for almost 2years.

Had a traditional eye test too. Sabrina was excellent and the team was fast. The price for the full set of tests was $105 and I felt it was good value as well. I have been a client of the eye place spending thousands of pounds over the course of 2 years for Ortho-K treatment. Today I arrived ten minutes late for an appointment and was told that I would not be seen and would have to leave. I was literally told "we can see you but if another patient comes in you have to get out immediately". Not even dogs are spoken to in this manner. I was literally greeted by the attending optician telling me "you are late... mate" in a condescending tone. I have never been referred to as "mate" and this is definitely not the tone staff should be taking with customers and patients. I highly recommend investing in lessons to teach manners and RESPECT and customer service. Over time I cannot count the numerous occasions that I have been made to wait (sometimes twenty minutes or more!) while the attending optician would sit on their office on their computer with no patient in sight. I understand that being late caused an issue however they could have gotten started on the appointment instead of wasting time telling me how busy the day is and that the attending optician won't even have time for lunch. It is not my problem that they are not able to schedule appointments efficiently. Alex should invest more in training the staff on how to treat clients and how to ensure that the proper tone is adopted when dealing with issues. I will definitely not be returning and for other patients considering Ortho-K I would recommend Visioncare on Harley street.

They even helped me no problem when I wanted to order my contacts in the US (they had to send my prescription) rather than through them because it was cheaper. When I broke said expensive frames (that colour was sadly discontinued), they offered to order two pairs of the same frames in different colours so I could try them out. Sure, you can get inexpensive glasses elsewhere, but this is a small, privately owned optometrist that will really take care of your vision... stylishly!

The test equipment is very modern and you can now look at your retina on the Apple display if so inclined. I don't change my glasses very often, but I take the tube here whenever I do or for a routine eye test. Islington is a nice part of town so pop down and have a coffee near the canal next time you visit.
