At my first appointment, he lectured me on his relationship with his nurse of 20 years. First words out of his mouth. I had said nothing about his nurse who had just showed me to his office and had spoken to me when I made the appointment. He glanced at my knees, which is why I was there, and said nothing. I had x rays taken on my own which showed arthritis near the knee cap. I explained to him a previously seen doctor had removed arthritis 5 years ago and all pain disappeared. He told me to ride an exercise bike and he left the room. I tried riding the exercise bike but the pain continued. He was very angry when I returned for a follow up visit. The second visit was about 5 minutes. He made it very clear he was not interested in helping me with anything. I have reported him to Stanford Health Care.

Dr Mishra is world-renowned for his experience in the treatment of tendinopathies (i.e. tendinitis…read moreand tendinosis), so I felt fortunate to reside in the Bay Area near his services and care. I have consulted Dr Mishra a few times over the past three years and I have always appreciated his attention and detailed explanations of my ailments. It may not seem like he performs all the fundamental clinical tests, but he asks excellent leading questions that uncover the same information. Appointments can be tough to come by, but be persistent and call a few times, as cancellations/rescheduling are common. As of March, Dr Mishra holds clinic two days a week. Navigating to the Menlo Clinic takes some time (and a GPS), but the effort is undoubtedly worth it! Many thanks also to his helpful and responsive medical assistant, James.

Dr. Costouros is a genius, a master. i can't thank him enough. we are lucky to have the best shoulder surgeon in the bay area. If you have shoulder issues Dr. Costouros is the answer.

Dr. Debbie Dang is simply exceptional -- she gave me my life back…read more I've been a patient of Dr. Dang's through what I can only describe as one of the most medically complex chapters of my life: bilateral ankle fractures (yes, both at the same time), the incidental discovery of a potentially cancerous tumor during that treatment, and a torn patellar tendon requiring full surgical repair. Through all of it, Dr. Dang has been steady, brilliant, and genuinely invested in my outcomes. What sets her apart isn't just her clinical skill -- though that is unquestionable. It's how she practices medicine. She is meticulous in a way that actually matters: she catches things, she follows through, and she never lets a detail slip. As someone with a background in human physiology and medicine, I ask hard questions, and she answers them fully and accurately -- never dismissive, never vague. But I've also watched her explain complex findings in ways that are completely accessible to patients without that background. That combination of depth and clarity is rare, and it reflects how much she actually cares about each person she sees. She is warm, kind, and patient in a way that never feels performative. During genuinely frightening moments -- particularly around the tumor discovery -- she was compassionate without being dismissive, and direct without being cold. That balance is a gift to a patient. The results speak for themselves: I am running again for the first time in three years. Three years. I genuinely did not know if that would ever happen. Dr. Dang did. If you are looking for an orthopedic physician who will treat your whole case -- not just your chief complaint -- and who will see you through whatever complexity arises with skill, diligence, and real human care, look no further. She is one of the best physicians I have ever had the privilege of being treated by.

Dr. Dang reviewed an MRI and determined that the surgery could be done without detaching the tendon. Dr. Dang is conservative in her approach; thoughtful and deliberate in the actions she will take. Exactly what I want from any doctor. The pre-op meeting was informative and helpful to knowing what I needed to do. The surgical experience was very smooth. The Pre-op nurses got me ready, and the team was extremely caring. The surgery went very well. The tendon was not touched, and after 14 days for the wound to heal, the stitches came out. Dr. Dang called me personally the day after surgery to see how I was doing and make sure everything was ok. If I were asked to think hard about how the entire experience could have been improved, I sincerely couldn't come up with a single thought. This was textbook perfect from start to finish. Thank you so much, Dr. Dang!

We saw several shoulder doctors - all cannot tell if they can do it without the possibility of perhaps needing a reverse shoulder joint replacment until they open his shoulder up. And the surgery can take from 5-7 hours. We saw Dr. Cheung and her command of the shoulder is so apparent. Sensing our apprehension, she said that shoulders is all she does and she "eat and sleep and dream shoulders". She lived up to her reputation and confidence. The surgery took less than 3 hrs, and the pain and recovery was speedy as within 3 weeks, my husband was ready to play pickle ball (his passion) - lol. He was on the court just to hit within 3-4 months. I swear by Dr. Cheung's skills and her staff as well. after a few xrays and MRI, she was confidence that there is no need for the possibility of a reverse shoulder replacement (its when the socket is reversed on the top of the upper arm bone. In addition, she inserted the latest model shoulder where the pin to the upper arm bone is shorter hence less intrusive. I would highly recommend Dr. Emilie Cheung for any shoulder and elbow surgical procedures. She is absolutely the best!!
