I had to get two MRIs and the staff for those were great too. Dr. Murphy, his nurse, and PA were all great. I think they all care and I don't feel rushed or disregarded during appointments. I know they also have a walk in/urgent care part- sometimes it's super busy in there as a result. But I don't mind the wait because I know I'm going to see staff that will listen and care to make things better. I also had surgery with Dr. Murphy, and that was as good of an experience as it could be. I truly believe they care about their patients and while sometimes it might be busy, it's been worth it to me.

Before I could get comfortable in the waiting room chair the physician's assistant came to get me. He was super friendly and let me know everything I could expect. Shortly thereafter, the doctor came in. He took his time and did a thorough evaluation. He went over all of my options and answered all of my questions. When it came time for my cortisone shot he didn't call in an assistant or nurse; he did it himself. I highly recommend Cone Health Sports Medicine Center. So much so that I added the business to Yelp.

I was in a tremendous amount of pain and agony...on crunches and he suspected I tore my meniscus. My first thought was omg am I gonna need surgery. He walked into the room veey calm, cool, collected and professional. He listened to me thoroughly as I explained eveeything that happened to me. He explained in detailed that they offer various lines of treatment and that the 1st was the R.I.C.E method combined with a very strong pack of medrol (prednisone) and then physical therapy. I am relieved to announce it ALL worked and I did not need surgery. He told me initially that he did not think I needed surgery at all and the fact that he was right in eveeything he told me comforted me and gave me a ton of hope. I did PT for 6 weeks several times a week and was gd as new. Had a followup with Dr. Wham and he was so happy for me that I was all better and ensured me that PT works and he always highly recommends it. He discharged me and that was that. I highly recommend not just this establishment, but Dr. What specifically. I would not see any other ortho DR/surgeon, but him.

The wait was only about ten minutes before they took me back for x-rays. The doctor came in a few minutes after and diagnosed a broken wrist. A soft cast was made and I was out of there. The entire visit from start to finish was just barely over an hour. Everyone was friendly and professional. This was a much better option than waiting two weeks with a broken wrist!

He performed surgery--inserted a plate and screws-- and it went well. Follow up x-rays showed some distance between two of my fingers, necessitating perhaps a second surgery. At that point I was done. My hand was not perfect but the recovery time is so laborious I chose to live with the slight discomfort. The discomfort only occurred when I was putting my full weight on it, as in the plank position, so I was fine. Here I am a few years later, with a re-injured wrist. Will I go back? Absolutely not. If you have a choice and a hand problem, go elsewhere. Unless you like a condescending military guy. (He was even haughty before the surgery with my husband in the room. My husband said, I thought for sure you would get up and walk out. lol.) If you have an emergency you will be well taken care of here. Otherwise, yuk. Avoid for hand injuries.

The practice itself is located in an easily accessible location that has plenty of parking, a clean and pleasant waiting area, and short wait periods. There is even an Urgent Care for Ortho related injuries located onsite that does not require an appointment. I highly recommend Dr. Benfield and Dr. Norris at EmergeOrtho. Asked why I wasn't informed prior to driving there and was told "we were just informed ourselves" but you can see a MA instead. I scheduled the appointment to see a specialist for what I was told I truly needed by another EmergeOrtho doctor at a pervious appointment. Place is very convenient for Summerfield residents but really need to either have doctors there when scheduled or have them do their surgery on days not scheduled to be in the office seeing patients. Patients have jobs as well as the doctors and that's why we all have scheduled appointments that need to be kept. Just wish EmergeOrtho communicated as well telling you each and everyday you have an upcoming appointment as they should do when the doctor fails to come into the office to see his/her scheduled patients.

Megan Williams IS NOT a doctor....she was extremely rude, NEVER even pretended to listen or…read more(obviously) review the tests from ER...she asked ME (?) what I wanted...WHAT? she didn't even pretend to be a dr...I asked for a referral to get help from some physical therapy and I guess that was just too much for her to handle...I was referred back to primary care or the ER, who, of course, sent me to a specialist...and the word specialist for her was beyond her education...I realize disc detereation is not life threatening, but she didn't explain anything she knew about my diagnosis and any treatments available....even the person in the room with me told me how rude, uneducated, and just assumed I was there for medication...THAT was Megan's idea of helping a patient...I think VERY HIGHLY of dr Xu, who listened about my hip problems years ago and actually looked and explained all my test results..just a warning for anyone with back trouble..DON'T book an appt with her! I am also discovering she treats most of her patients like potential criminals...
