It wasn't easy picking out a cake since everything looked sweet & delicious. I did try the piña colada cake slice & thought it was very good. The custom made cakes in the cooler looked even more delicious, but none of those were available for sale by the slice. The creativity of the cake designs were up most, very impressive. It's gourmet cake quality inside a little casita bakery! It's another reason why I enjoy visiting border towns. Sometimes you come across a hidden gem like El Dulce Pasteleria. Bakery staff was genuinely friendly & did a great job describing their baked creations. Cash & credit cards are accepted for purchases. Perhaps next time I'll try a slice of Tres Leches cake? Yum!!

Also, I bought cinnemon rolls, danish pastry and apple turnover--all tasted like it was straight out of WalMart and stale. Stale as in last week's batch. Syrupy and gross. I've tasted much better rolls from the H.E.B. It all tasted old! They have two display boxes for their pastries. One is usually completely empty and the other 1/3 full. They should change their name to "Coffee and Take Your Chances Pastries--Don't Ask For Cake Cake Shop".
