The Ribeye was cooked perfectly to my liking and it practically melted in my mouth. I drove in from San Antonio to try this steakhouse and I was not disappointed. Onion ring on top of a bacon BBQ burger. Hit the spot. Guests had the Country Fried Steak and Country Fried Chicken (they LARPED small town Texas on this trip). They enjoyed but didn't say it was amazing. The service and staff was (very) friendly and courteous but... 1) When we go sat, no one gave us cutlery. Even after the appetizers arrived we still hadn't gotten any. It took asking twice. And trust me the gap between sitting, asking 1x and then asking again was about 25 mins. At least. Our actually server recognized this and was apologetic (I think he got triple sat on a Friday night). 2) Our actual entree order was *probably* never put in originally because it took 50 minutes (and people who say after us ate and got dessert in the meantime) and when it came out it was hot. Which means it wasn't sitting around. Again our server recognized this and was very apologetic. Despite that, I'd go again. Vibe was perfect small town Texas and food hit the spot.

Walked in and enjoyed a seat by the window. Not much vegetarian options for my friend, but his son got a double burger and I got the chicken fried steak. My friend didn't think I could eat it all and after the first bite, it was challenge accepted. Got to talking to the waiter and he mentioned they buy their meat locally and you could tell it was a good piece battered and fried. I got 2 sunny side eggs with it to soak up the plate and I do have to say this was the best CFS that I have had in a long time. I also got a Menudo to go as I was eating, but they forgot to put the order in and in the rush, the top lid cracked and it leaked out on way home. This was a bummer, since I was hoping to have it the next day before work. Besides this mess, I really recommend this place.

They are extremely nice, right there to take care of you, checking on you very regularly and bring a picture of ice tea, (they have excellent sweet tea), with them everytime they check your table! You have never had better, more courteous service anywhere and everyone working are friendly and make sure you know they appreciate your business! You never have to look for a staff member if you need them, usually your waitress or waiter is close by. Everything is amazing, I love the Sportsman Plate. The grilled quail and fried frog legs are the best I have ever eaten anywhere! Grilled shrimp is kick ass as are their steaks! They know how to season the meal they cook! Last time we tried the Armadillo Legs and never had any type of popper that came close to their deliciousness! We took Armadillo Legs and Frog Legs home for later since we ate so early. We've been eating at Cripple Creek once or twice a year, on average, for over 20 years. During this time their staff has always remained top notch, hard to believe but if anything they may have gotten better! We're 100 miles away or we would eat there a lot more. Normally we go for our Anniversary and/or birthdays. Go at 5, the earliest, and you will thank me. It's quieter with fewer customers just starting to filter in. Around 6 the crowds are pouring in & they fillup quick with customers waiting outside for a table. The busy crowd doesn't stop until closing time basically, we've seen them have to turn customers away 30 minutes after closing. Whatever time you choose, make a reservation or you may have a long wait or not get in.
