Prior to going, I thought to myself: what can possibly make this weekly event so amazing. I thought I would be underwhelmed, Boy, was I wrong! I checked out the Art Walk for the first time in February. It took me a little while to find parking. Scottsdale has plenty of free street parking (which I always appreciate), including surface lots, but this is a popular event. After circling around for a few minutes, I was able to find a spot. In my opinion, here's the best way to enjoy the experience...have it come to you organically. Which is tough to say coming from someone who is a planner. Just walk around and walk into any and all of the art galleries that seem interesting to you. Of course, you can visit all of these galleries outside of the Scottsdale Art Walk. What makes this experience different is that rather than closing around 5 p.m., they keep their doors open late. Many of them will also offer complimentary drinks including wine, champagne, and cocktails. Awesome! With it being Scottsdale, you'll see a focus on Western and Native American art. That is not by any means the extent of what you'll find though. Some art galleries specialize in other styles of painting including surrealism, abstract art, French impressionism, or pointillism. Are y'all impressed with my knowledge of art? All of the art books I read when I was a kid are coming in clutch now. The art is generally quite expensive so I didn't buy anything but I still very much enjoyed the experience. You're also likely to find entertainment on the streets e.g. musicians and street performers. My favorite of the bunch I saw was a Native American performance. There are also Gold Palette Walks which are special versions of the weekly Scottsdale Art Walk. I haven't been to one of these, so I can't touch on how they compare, but I would like to at some point. I feel like a Scottsdale Art Walk is an experience all locals should check out at some point!

Nice to combine with the nearby Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art that also has free/donation based entry on Thursday evenings.

Every room and installation was completely different, creative, interactive, and made you stop and look at things in a new way. Imagine walking past the glossy storefronts and suddenly stepping into a world of immersive art installations where each corner invites exploration and wonder. The first thing you'll notice--aside from the captivating visuals--is the bar. Yes, Wonderspaces boasts its own bar, a clever touch that encourages visitors to sip and stroll. While the drink selection is modest and the bar staff sparse, there's a certain charm in clinking a cocktail glass before diving into a neon forest or an interactive lightscape. The exhibits rotate frequently, which keeps the experience fresh and ensures even a return visit feels like a new adventure. A digital guide is available with thorough details on both the artists and their works, elevating each stop from simple admiration to informed engagement. It's like having a well-versed curator in your pocket. Admission is reasonably priced, and for locals, the membership is a no-brainer. With unlimited visits that pay for themselves in roughly four trips, it's almost an invitation to make Wonderspaces your personal creative escape. Staff members are as friendly as they are knowledgeable, happy to chat about the art or guide you to the next must-see installation. If there's a drawback, it's that the bar's limited selection and minimal staffing can mean a bit of a wait for refreshments. But considering the immersive, mind-bending world just beyond the bar, it's a minor inconvenience. Wonderspaces is proof that culture can bloom in the most unexpected places--even in a high-end mall. For art lovers, casual explorers, or anyone looking to break the shopping monotony with a dose of creativity, it's a Scottsdale treasure worth discovering again and again.
