Despite much…read moresearching, I couldn't find much in the way of reviews or ratings of landscapers in the Doncaster area, and so picked these guys because a neighbour of a friend had used them and was very pleased. Also, because despite attempting to get other quotes, nobody else seemed willing to tackle to complicated project we had in mind and after the initial visit the others disappeared off the face of the earth!! We had quite a complicated decking project involving a massive circle around a sunken lawn with water feature and lighting. Much head scratching went on, and it took them a bit longer than they'd anticipated simply because of the complexity (which to their immense credit they didn't try and charge any extra for), but the end result is absolutely brilliant! It's a really professional job, and I can't fault the finish in any way. Our work was done by Tim and Kevin (who own the business - there may also be a third partner, not sure) who are both have some sort of horticulture or glandscaping qualifications, plus a young lad called Matt. They're 3 of the nicest blokes you could have hanging around, and unlike most workmen (who I normally detest and avoid at all costs by hiding upstairs!) they were friendly, polite, knowledgeable and reliable. They came and went exactly when they said they would (which anyone who's dealt much with tradesmen will know is a massive bonus in itself) and couldn't have done enough to help. There was never any pressure put on us for cash, and even when our self-bought light fittings turned out to be utter cack, they didn't moan about it, but managed to make some changes to make them work. Pricewise, I'd say that they were very reasonable. What particularly pleased me about the quote was that the cost of materials they quoted turned out to be exactly the cost of buying them from the supplier, rather than a huge mark-up. They were also happy to fit items we had bought ourselves which often tradespeople don't like as they can't charge you more for it! I can't really pick any faults. I suppose if I was being really fussy I'd say that it's a shame they can't accept credit cards, but they did let us buy the materials ourselves to partly bypass that. It also took quite a long time from the initial visit to actually getting the quote from them, but this was largely due to the complexity of the plan they had to draw rather than lack of effort. So really, nothing bad to say! I'm not normally easy to please - see my other reviews for confirmation of this. But for once I really can't recommend these guys highly enough (and no, I'm not married to one of them/getting paid to say that!). They said that most of their work comes through word-of-mouth, and I can now see why. Tim is correcting a previous so called landscapers mess, and he has done a fantastic job. As previous reviews have said, Tim and his team are polite, diligent and very tidy. Nothing is acceptable other that perfection and the care Tim has taken is clear and how he instils that in his team is obvious in the results. The works have included clearance of the incorrect previous works, digging out and relaying patios ( They are really good at this ), timber planters, building a pagoda, building a gazebo, garden lighting etc. There is nothing too much trouble. I have no qualms in recommending Tim and his team at T J Landscapes. You will not be disappointed and will be charged a fair and competitive price. Untrustworthy and incompetent…read more Total Garden Designs - Tom Collins and his dad - have caused us thousands of pounds worth of damage, did not finish the job we paid for and have blocked our phone calls. Tom and his dad did landscaping work on our garden, creating a patio and laying new turf. They did not complete the turf as promised and the patio was poorly installed, causing rainwater ingress and damaging our carpet and furniture. While they worked they were friendly, chatty and knew we were hoping our garden would be perfect for our baby daughter. This was a huge spend for us and we spent a long time choosing who to work with. They did not finish installing the turf, and delayed returning again and again. When problems began with a huge leak, they started to block our calls. I cannot put into words how deeply disappointed I am to have put our trust and savings with this company. We are now left with work to correct and an entire room's carpet damaged beyond repair. We are pursuing legal action. Tom - you have our email and phone number.

Darren gave me an initial quote, which got higher as the original materials requested weren't…read moreavailable. For most of the job, lasting 2 weeks, the only people who were consistently on the job were a general labourer and a new employee who hadnt landscaped before but we were quoted for professional landscapers. As the job went on Darren changed the design and, as I thought, exchanged the patio tiles I had paid for in exchange for a composite walkway in the same material used for my patio, he changed the layout of the steps and the size of the deck. On completion there were numerous issues which Darren agreed were substandard as he had rushed the end of the job to finish to deadline. He then presented me with a bill for an additional £1500 on top of the £14000 I had already paid him. This was far in excess of his quote. We refused to pay as Darren could provide no invoices and had removed substantial excess materials from the property for use on other jobs, but finally after 5 months of argument Darren agreed to make good the problems F.O.C. That was in November and we are still waiting, despite pleading with him to come and make good on his promises. I hate leaving this review because his workers never stopped, in all weather's and Darrens ideas are lovely. Sadly, he cannot run his business effectively and if you hire him I'd warn you to check everything you you pay him for and gets itemized receipts for the materials. We paid £14000 for a town garden to be decked, flagged and astro turfed. We have since asked 2 other landscapers what we should have paid and they agreed the cost with labour should have been approx £9000!!!
