We have been bringing our dogs to Cary Veterinary Hospital for over 10 years, and are now searching for a new vet. The office has changed hands several times in recent years, and has become increasingly pushy about services and their Paw Plan. It never covers any blood tests or other extra services that seem "necessary" when recommended by the vets....but it was our experience with our two senior dogs that sent us searching for other care. Our one dog was 12+ years old, and had the Paw Plan with added dental care because she always had issues with her teeth. Before her last cleaning I directly asked if she was maybe getting too old for dental care with full anesthesia, etc, because she was slowing down. The vet told us if her bloodwork looked ok then it should be fine. After the cleaning she immediately experienced a series of complications where she refused to eat and was looking very ill. The vet kept recommending anti-nausea and food supplements, which we paid extra for, trying to get her to eat. Long story short we had a couple of very rude interactions with the desk staff, and they sent us rushing to an emergency vet who discovered a ruptured tumor, and she had to be euthanized. While we got a sympathy card from the emergency vet, Cary Vet never reached out to us about this other than to email us a bill for the rest of the Paw Plan - for over $700 - for the year because we used up all the services before paying off the yearly plan...even though the last service was a poor recommendation by the vet and our dog died afterwards! Because of this shock we cancelled our other senior dog's pet insurance, and delayed bringing him back to them. When we finally took him to see them for some arthritis pain, the vet was very condescending to us, insinuating we were ignoring his problems and were neglectful dog owners. We are definitely done with Cary Vet. I understand having to pay the bill, which we did, but the callousness with which we were treated by the staff was really the last straw.

Due to Covid 19, they have a new protocol in place. When we arrived, we were told to call and let them know we were here. They then discussed the procedures/tests that we requested, along with the total cost for the visit. Not long after ending the phone call, a tech came out and gently took my pup back into the office while we waited in the car. The vet called a bit later and discussed a few recommendations and then connected us with the front desk where I paid for the charges. I was extremely satisfied with the visit today and I actually enjoyed being able to sit in my car instead of going into the facility. I highly recommend this veterinary hospital!

After a few recommendations, we decided to bring her to RCAH for a second opinion and within the first 5 minutes, the techs were so incredibly nice, they listened to our concerns and the vet really examined her well. Her infection was treated swiftly and they sent very kind follow up emails. Had to take her in again recently after she was missing for a few days and when I requested the vet files because I was unable to go myself via their app, I received them within a couple of hours. We eventually had surgery done on her recommendation and it alleviated her suffering for several years. After 17 long years, we finally decided her quality of life wasn't there anymore and decided to have my cat put to sleep. Dr. Lash and Jessica came to our house and were wonderfully supportive and caring. They made Feffer comfortable and allowed her pain and discomfort to end peacefully. They comforted us and reassured us we were doing the right thing. I highly recommend their services they provide and can attest to their professionalism and caring personalities. If your animal doesn't tolerate travel well, or it's easier for you to have the vet come to you, I feel you can't get better care anywhere else.

I am visiting my brother for the week and anyone who knows me knows that animals come first in my life. A few years ago, I came back to Fuquay to stay with my Dad for a period of time. One day, a precious cat showed up in the back yard. and of course I started feeding him. 'Sweet Pea'iuh, clearly was not feral and before long was living in the house with me and my Dad. When I left to go back home, I was unable to take Sweet Pea with me and for the past year, a long time friend of my brother has been living in my Dad's house and taking care of Sweet Pea, but only as an outdoor cat as she is allergic. The first thing I did when I arrived was go to the house and look for Sweet Pea. He came running out from the bushes, and my heart melted. When I fed him, I noticed he was struggling to eat and knew he was having dental issues. I had to get him to a vet but I am only her for the week.To my dismay, I called around multiple clinic and everyone was booked for months. As fate would have it, AND lots of prayers, my friend who rescues cats, called Academy East, which I was unaware of, explained the situation, and they happened to have one cancellation. The bottom line is, he had a mouth full of abscessed teeth, all were pulled, leaving him with only a few teeth, but a much healthier mouth. Dr Jaime Barta performed the very difficult surgery, but what's so mazing is she went beyond the call of duty and discovered Sweet Pea's eye was compromised which led her to look for other injuries and concluded he had been attacked by an animal in the past as she found scar tissue under his eye which causing his eye lid to heal abnormally but that he had also lost a portion of his tongue obviously in the same fight. Sweet Pea had seen a vet while I was staying with my Dad a few years ago to get a health exam and all the necessary shots, but no one ever noticed his injuries. To say Dr Barta's bedside manner was pure compassion is an understatement. And Tanya, who greeted me in the morning when I dropped off Sweet Pea was simply delightful. Cuddos to a great veterinary hospital and my final comment is the cost was beyond reasonable. That should never a reason to choose a veterinarian, but it truly was a relief as Sweet Pea is not my cat, and unfortunately not going home with me. Let me first preface this by saying this review does not apply to everyone. We love Dr. Bray, and…read morethe vet tech we dealt with this morning was very sweet. We are leaving this practice after years, and THOUSANDS UPON THOUSAND UPON THOUSANDS of $$$. 1. Front staff is apathetic, and uncaring and bordeline rude at times. Especially young lady with long black hair. There is one lady with light brown hair and southern accent that is nice, but that is the exception. 2. Wait times are unacceptable. They rarely honor appointment times. You can expect to wait 25-45 minutes for a drop off appointment and well over an hour after your appointment time for your pet to be seen. You also can expect to wait 25-45 minutes for them to bring your pet out to you after drop offs or procedures. 3. Prices have increased steadily and consistently, and they often push very expensive and often times unnecessary tests. The prices that they charge do not commiserate with the experience you receive there. They have made multiple mistakes, and do not admit when they are wrong. This morning, I had a tech appt to have my cat's blood drawn. It was an appointment that needed to be prompt, because he needed blood drawn within 4-6 hours of meds. Because they were late (yet again) he missed that window. They did not seem to care when my husband mentioned he was concerned that the window was missed, annd just said, well it's been done now. They had that our appointment this morning was a drop off, when in fact, it was not. Then they blamed their error on my spouse and said that he knew it was drop off appointment because they had discussed that he needed to have his blood drawn within a given time window. They missed that window because they were late. AGAIN. You can't justify charging exhorbitant amounts for services, and then be consistently late, rude and apathetic about it. They don't seem to have the staff that is needed to service this large of a practice. They need to overhaul this practice if they want to stay in business. We will be transferring all but one of our animals (except for the one that is ongoing cancer treatment with Dr. Bray) to a smaller (non corporate) local practice. I mentioned this to the young lady at the desk with the black hair, and she really could not have given a crap.
