Such great prices for an amazing location. We set up our tent on a peninsula overlooking the lake with nobody near us. The interstate noise carried, but it wasn't too loud. We didn't put on the rain fly and could hear the crickets, frogs and fish jumping. Campground was well kept. Clean bathrooms, mowed lawn, playground for kids, and everyone (staff and campers) were friendly. Perfect spot to test out my new tent. Great park to enjoy Indiana summer nights!

Near the entrance on the south side of the park is a huge playground with multiple pieces for kids to play on. Visitors can simply park along the road that loops through the park so they can park near the amenity that interests them. There are horse shoes pits, pickle ball courts, a paved walking trail, a shelter and a pavilion (with its own playground), an amphitheater, and on the northwest side, Rainbow Beach swim/splash park with its own parking! And just in case that sounds crowded, there is a large green area with mature trees in the middle of the park that allows people to mill about or for kids to run and play their own games. The park is clean and well kept too! It might be nice to have some additional benches and picnic tables for those not needing to rent an entire shelter, but other than that, the park seems to have the makings of a fun day. Review #2980

All I can suggest is that if you go there and have a problem with a dog attack, that you 1. make sure you make a report with DNR when it happens, 2. you get the names of the OWNER(s) of the dog(s) and not just the name(s) of the person(s) who has control of the dog(s) at the time of the attack. I also suggest if you, a family member or your pet(s) are hurt, do go to the doctor or vet asap and retain a full report of the visit. The rules of keeping pets on a leach no longer than 6 foot long and/or keeping them securely tied up appeared not to be enforced and may not be a violation that would be deemed liable for the dog(s) owner if you are injured. This is not legal advise as I am not an attorney, just a word of advise. I am sure this can happen anywhere, but this is what we came across at Raccoon in Parke County, so this is our own story. Otherwise, this is a great state park and the staff has always been wonderful.

They had removed all the docks, most likely in an effort to reduce the amount of people around during this COVID19, stay at home pandemic. We were still able to find spots to fish and relax in though. In the past I have camped at a campground within the park around the lake and really enjoyed it! Dog friendly too!
