I tried to change the batteries but since I'm not a professional, I thought it would be best to have a professional take a look. I called William and he was here within 24 hours to look at the system. He did confirm it was just the thermostat, however while doing a quick seasonal inspection of the system, he realized we had a much bigger problem!! The part that releases the carbon monoxide gases when the heater is on was broken, and because it was black we couldn't even see it had separated. If we would've turned the system on, we could've potentially poisoned our entire home. He ordered the part which came in within 2 days and once received, was back out again within 24 hours. He recommended an excellent new thermostat and now we have a safe system once again.
