I tried to change the batteries but since I'm not a professional, I thought it would be best to have a professional take a look. I called William and he was here within 24 hours to look at the system. He did confirm it was just the thermostat, however while doing a quick seasonal inspection of the system, he realized we had a much bigger problem!! The part that releases the carbon monoxide gases when the heater is on was broken, and because it was black we couldn't even see it had separated. If we would've turned the system on, we could've potentially poisoned our entire home. He ordered the part which came in within 2 days and once received, was back out again within 24 hours. He recommended an excellent new thermostat and now we have a safe system once again. I can't thank him enough, and I highly recommend his services as he was extremely professional, knowledgeable, polite, timely, and reasonably priced.

We reviewed multiple companies and decided, based off of the reviews, to call Phil Carpenters. I spoke with Brandon when I called to see if they service my area (far Eastern Shasta County, WELL outside of Redding). He was very friendly, helpful, he asked a lot of good questions about the problems we were having, confirmed that they do service my area and scheduled me promptly for service. He told me who to expect and what time to expect them. Guys, this is not Dish or Direct that give a 6 hour window of when their tech MAY arrive. Brandon told me that Andrew would be here at 8am (which I really doubted because of where we live), and a few minutes before 8, Andrew arrived! I called because the world wide web said he would answer. He did. Talked to me about ten minutes at 9:15 on a Friday night. We agreed that he would show up this morning to troubleshoot and diagnose. Two different processes, by the way. Dudes, like a walking flow chart. He showed up in a clean van, wearing a clean shirt and clean pants. Didn't smell like weed or cigarettes or alcohol and in 15 minutes, he literally had my unit sounding like it had not sounded in a couple of years. He is extremely knowledgeable; takes the time to explain what he is doing and why he is doing it. Mike is absolutely a picture of professionalism. He hung around for a little while to make sure the repair he made was successful and while we were chatting, he gave me a few ideas to think about as far as preventative maintenance goes. The whole situation was very low pressure, low stress and his service call fee was extremely fair and reasonable. He even gave us a magnet to put on our fridge in case we needed to call him again...which is kind of cool because my lovely bride collects refrigerator magnets. Set on 77 right now. Cycles fine.
