I ate here with my four minions and wife as we were traveling home on vacation. This is perhaps the best bar-b-q that I've had in all my travels. I abhor coleslaw, but quite enjoyed their rendition of that side dish. The pulled pork was as moist as it was delectable. The ribs are the best I've had yet! (Except for my wife's that is.) The potato salad was too delicious for words to adequately describe. The sauces are appropriately served on the side instead of having your dish swimming in it. Both the mild and hot sauces had excellent flavors. All of us (including the two children who are notoriously picky) enjoyed very bite of our meals. There are only two things that would make this place a better restaurant, and that is 1) to be closer to me so I could eat there more often, 2) more heat in the hotter of the sauces. Perhaps they have a spicier sauce that's off menu and available to those who request it. If I should ever find myself in Tennessee again, I will make it a point to eat at this establishment again! read more

Found this lil gem next to the Pilot truck stop. Small place, I usaully call in my order when Im in the area. Staff is super friendly along with the owner Mr. Rochelle, he always greet me when I go there. I always get the Ribs and WOWZERS! Simply amazing, Ive had alot of ribs but this by far is the best, very tender and the meat just falls right off the bone! The mac and cheese and potato salad was ok but the Ribs are definately the show stopper, you wont be dissapointed with this one...... CERTIFIED! The owners themselves made sandwiches for us in spite of the fact that they were closed because of a recent ice storm (they didn't want anyone falling and getting hurt). This was the most incredible example of southern hospitality and the most tender BBQ sandwich I have ever had the pleasure to eat. We always plan our trips to stop in Hurricane Mills for this incredible restaurant. Best home cooking around! The brisket is so tender that you do not need a knife. The mac and cheese and beans are to die for! But the thing that keeps us coming back is their fried food. You won't find better catfish. The French fries are worth writing home about. I love the fried okra so much that I haven't tried the fried green tomatoes or fried pickles. And the cobblers! They only use seasonal fruits so don't expect blackberries in the fall. But the chocolate cobbler and the pecan cobbler more than make up for it. Definitely worth a stop when traveling I-40. read more

We were getting gas across the street and spotted this place - so glad we decided to make this our lunch spot! The food was great and we loved the covered porch. We tried the brisket (super tender and juicy) and the fried catfish and both were delicious. Both coleslaws were also good as was the mac 'n cheese, the fried okra, and the hush puppies (we got a lot of food). And when a lightning storm moved in, they let us bring our dog inside until the storm moved on. Everyone was super nice and friendly. Bar none indeed: This gem is less than 0.25 miles from I-40 and a must go for their ribs (1/2 rack for $11 of this quality is tough to beat). They are fall off the bone tender and hit the spot with a sweet glaze and as much BBQ sauce as you want. They pull their brisket for the sandwich and it's tender, juicy, and generously portioned on a big roll. Potato salad wasn't mushy and swimming in sauce, but instead had firm bite sized chunks seasoned just right. Will definitely be back on my next road trip though TN! read more

We stopped off here in the middle of a road trip. We were a little unsure initially because there were only a couple others cars in the parking lot, but there weren't a lot of other options around so we decided to take a shot. Boy were we glad we did! We all got the brisket sandwiches and they were fabulous! It's a cute little spot that is worth a visit just for the funny signs and friendly service, but the food puts it over the top. Prices weren't cheap, but the quality was more than worth the money. The food is probably good, but we weren't able to taste it. In a COVID-19 world, this restaurant is willfully ignorant and downright dangerous. My daughter and I walked in masked to find people packed like sardines in the dining room and standing elbow to elbow waiting for to-go orders. I think our masks were a grim reminder of their denial (we were the only masked people in the restaurant) because we just weren't welcome there. Every dish we tried to order they were somehow out of. It made me understand what it was like to live in the Jim Crow South. We ended up eating at the restaurant across the road and up on the hill that looks over Rochelle's. I was driving from Clarksville to Texas and needed a quick lunch on the road. I had remembered that there was this BBQ place where 13 meets I 40 so I thought I'd give it a try. There were quite a few cars there already, so that was a good sign. You know, when you are stopping at a small mom and pop kind of place you don't know what you will get. Anyway, glad I stopped. I was greeted by who I suspect was the owner, an older gentleman who jumped up to take my order. I asked for a sandwich but he suggested the combo so I'd get chips and a drink. I had the pulled pork and it was delish. I got the sauce on the side so I could control it. Didn't need any really, but I used a little bit. I told him I was going to Texas and could'nt wait to get my teeth into some Beef Brisket (national bbq of Texas, vs pork here in Tennessee). He said "wait a minute" and had the gal bring out a sample of his beef brisket. It was indeed tasty and worthy to be eaten. Had I known, I might have ordered that. So, I took my lunch and left. About 4 exits down I-40, I realized that while we were chatting and socializing, I had never paid for my meal. Being on a time crunch and not wanting to turn around and drive back, I recalled that I had taken his business card and so I called them. They were very gracious as I explained how absent minded I am and promised to send them my $6.53, which I did once I got to Texas. My friends and I discovered this place while looking for a recommended diner that turned out to be closed. The smell of hickory smoke grabbed us by the nostrils and drew us in. We joined a crew of friendly locals and had some of the best BBQ we've tasted in years. The meat was tender beyond description and not overly smokey. All food is served with complimentary sweet or regular tea. We were too full for dessert but grabbed a cobbler to go. It, too, was fantastic. My spilling a drink did not faze them. We were looking for a decent place to grab lunch while on road. This place is excellent! Had the Chicken BBQ sandwich with reg coleslaw and potato salad on side. All of it was delicious! Chicken was perfectly cooked, moist and full of flavor- our busboy said it had just come off the smoker (about 1PM). Our server said the brisket and ribs also delicious and fresh as is the Mac and cheese. Coleslaw was seasoned just right and potato salad creamy and good. Excellent BBQ and outstanding fish! Went at lunch. Small place (park in back - it's easier). Very friendly staff, helpful when choosing a meal. My friend had gone to a nearby restaurant which was a great disappointment. Found this sight on Yelp and gave it a try. If truckers rave then there must be something there. If you're in the area or stopping for gas at Exit 143 this is next to the Pilot gas station before you get to that other place. Definitely will be back! read more

A local friend told us about this spot. They are always the best referral. We walked in and were immediately greeted with smiles and a warm welcome. We took a seat and the most wonderful, down-home woman came to take our drink order. She treated us like we were neighbors coming over for Sunday dinner. She told us to be patient, everything was cooked to order. Let me tell you - to say it was worth the wait is an understatement! There were 4 of us. Each had a different meal. You know how to tell if a southerner likes the food? A quiet table. The only words were "you gotta try this!" Every meal was unbelievable! The brisket was fall- apart tender and had the best flavor. They don't even give you a butter knife. No worries! You won't need one. The pork was fabulous, the chicken wings were delicious and the catfish was the best I've ever eaten. And the fried green tomatoes? Get your own order. None will be shared! We passed our plates around because no one could believe the other person had better food! Afterwards, Eddie (the owner) talked to us outside. He is an amazingly friendly, sincere man. The only disappointment...finding out they are only open Thursday thru Saturday. The prices are on the high side for the area and it's cash only. The pork is decent. The sides I tried (fries, cole slaw, baked beans) are on par with other BBQ joints. The vinegar slaw is the better choice. Burgers are big and nicely charred. read more
