Love these guys. Unpacked my road bike after a Delta flight and found the rear derailleur hanger completely bent, despite lots of bubble wrap, foam etc. They offered to source the part but I found it myself online and they mounted it, reset the derailleur and tuned the gears. They did this quickly, cheaply and professionally, allowing me the sanity of cycling while visiting family in the area. Go there first! read more

Super unprofessional historically. (This is a delayed review, but I want others to know and avoid this experience with bike fittings). I've never set foot in this shop again. The last time I went to this shop was when I was brand new to cycling. I had spent three months going from zero to roughly 600 miles before I finally gave into the idea that I actually needed to invest in a fitting. Unfortunately, I picked this shop. I spent the entire bike fitting session listening to two unprofessional guys talk about how horrible Specialized bikes are and how superior Trek bikes were comparatively. They barely spoke with me, likely because I didn't look like a pro they needed to pander to. I also clearly didn't have a ton of expendable money. The levels of unchecked ego were interesting to say the least. I was sitting on my entry level, first ever road bike. It's still my baby and serves me well. It's a Specialized. I hope those two bros no longer work there - or in any shop for that matter. If they do, they need to revisit empathy and humility. It may have been just another 'easy' fitting for them, in which they could check out and just talk amongst themselves as if I wasn't there, but it left a lasting impression for me. look....i, all too often, come shambling in with some crazy, esoteric and vexing bike issue that has left me short on expertise and/or cycling specific tools and have NEVER left without their gracious assistance and a problem solved. i cannot thank the RC&F team enough for taking the time to help out when i've reached such impasses. truly another excellent experience just recently with a frozen bottom bracket with italian threading on a decades old (but classic colnago). end result? old and decimated BB in hand, undamaged original threading and fine counsel on how and where to acquire a suitable replacement component. you all rock!!! read more

Thank you so much for the great service! I was visiting from out of town and needed a quick fix on my bike. Not only was Rochester Cycling the most affordable place I called, they were also willing to do the work right away and get my bike back to me the next day. I also bought a couple of accessories and they put them on my bike at no charge. However, the best part of my experience was the store employees. I was greeted immediately, asked a few times if I was being helped (when I was browsing), and every person I talked to was very friendly and helpful. This is where I used to go. I've purchased an Electra Townie 21 for my wife with the optional Hawaiian Flowered seat and grips (great bike, highly recommended) and many parts for both Schwinn Airdyne's and bicycles. My wife's Townie 21 was stolen from her work in June 2011 and when we went in to get the serial number from their records, they miraculously didn't have it on file...their excuse being it was "busy" the day that we purchased the bike and it didn't get written down. I'm sorry, but there are just a few things that go with a sale and next to me paying, this is the second most important thing. Their parts are within reason and comparable to other shops, bikes are great, sales staff O.K., but their lead mechanic is a word I cannot mention here and will try to make you feel incompetent and unworthy of his time. If they put him in check and pay a little more attention to the details at the time of sale, I'd still be going here because I need another Electra. As it stands now, I'll have to find a different Electra dealer. read more

I'm sure they are fantastic at helping you pick out a new bike. However, after stopping in to see if they would do a tune up to my bike (which I did not purchase from them) they said it would be $70. To which I told them was cheaper than another bike shop in town. They then told me that "Their service is better." I brought my bike in in a Tuesday around 5 PM and they told me it would be done Thursday. The worker who checked me in said it might be done Wednesday, but just to be safe he said come back in Thursday. I arrived back Thursday at 4 PM expecting my bike to be ready. Only to find out that they hadn't even started working on it. One of the workers then told me it would be ready in an hour. So I came back in an hour and retrieved my bike. The following weekend I took my bike out to find that it had been improperly put back together. I swung by the shop to see if they could remedy the problem. I found out that they are closed Sunday's and have no visible hours listed in the door or window. These guys might be great if you buy your bike from them, but it seems like if you bring in your bike from another retailer they could care less. read more

The staff here are knowledgeable and friendly. I once went looking for an odd part for my childs co-pilot. Without knowing the official name for the part, they were able to figure it out and proceeded to just give it to me instead of trying to figure out a charge for it. Very nice gesture on their part - they get my repeat business for sure. read more

By far the best and most knowledgeable staff in Rochester. I would review it as 5 stars if they had more selection for road bikes but its pretty much just a Trek store. They also seem to be a bit overpriced across the board and even the sale prices are generally too expensive. Best service and staff though and I would trust this shop with my bike any day. read more

Everyone who works there is very knowledgeable, doesn't push the expensive bikes, and has never made us feel like we asked a dumb question. I will NEVER go back to Rochester Cycling & Fitness after how they treated me as a potential customer. I went in looking to get different wheels and tires for my bike and was upfront with them that I was not interested in buying a different bike. I'd done my homework and knew what I was looking for, I just wanted to get a rough estimate on the cost. The sales person would not answer my questions about pricing and parts, but was insistent that I should buy a new bike instead and open a credit card to get it. He was patronizing and treated me like a helpless, ignorant female. I am flabbergasted that after 15 minutes I was still unable to get the answers to the simple questions I was asking. It was very evident that had I been a man, I would not have been treated in such a disrespectful manner. read more

Charlie and Mark provided fantastic service while fixing my bike......as I had driven an hour to get to the shop, they tracked down an out of stock part and performed several repairs while I waited. Not only was I out of there within an hour because they were able to address my needs immediately, I won't have to spend another day off getting my bike fixed.....(and I'm back on the road for work tomorrow!).
