Have spent the past three years in counseling, in another state, at my own expense, with superb help and guidance to get off of one unnecessary psychotropic drug, and another (a benzodiazepin) , never should be prescribed for more than one to two week's usage, and is dangerous to life threatening to get off of without proper help, which Mayo psychiatrists do not believe in. No one should seek psychiatric help, in any form, from the Mayo Clinic.

I decided to come to this clinic for a second opinion. I was very glad I did. I had a very complicated history and the staff took their time and reviewed my case, talked with me, and referred me to other professionals they felt might assist. In the end, they recommended a total change of direction. While I initially was a bit hesitant to go in a new direction, I took a leap of faith and followed their recommendations. Boy was I glad I did.....I have returned home, followed their suggestions, dropped my old psychiatrist, found a new psychiatrist and have been feeling better than I have in numerous years. We dug in fast and hard and I was left with open wounds unsettled only to arrive for my appointment and be turned away with absolutely no explanation. She would not even take 10 minutes with me just hid behind closed doors and pretty much abandoned me in the middle of intense work. This all should have been addressed prior to starting treatment and probably referred to a different place that would accommodate me and the insurance and budget I had to work with. I also know she was in the middle of treatment with another individual only to have them end their life while working with her as per the family left behind. This was a few years back however I still have unresolved feelings about my time with joy kliber and anger about how this was handled.

I was ignored despite my risk, I had items that grounded me taken away, the schooling was horrible (they don't teach you anything, they just have you use IXL and you get to pick whatever you want), they DO NOT HELP. I had sexual comments made about my body by other patients there on DAY ONE and nobody said a word. I had zero attention paid to me, nobody pushed me to get better in the slightest, instead I was labeled as "flat emotionally" and treated like I wasn't even there. If you are not already "fixed", they will do NOTHING for you or your child.
