Been going there for years. All great., produce, meats, bakery. Nothing to complain about.

I tried to buy a sale item Tuesday. Gentleman behind the meat counter said it was unavailable due to to a supplier issue, but they'd honor the sale price. Returned the next day, item in stock, but another gentleman behind the meat counter denied my request for the sale price. I left the store with no items, and no intention of ever returning. I urgently needed a cake for an occasion and Roch's Fresh Foods came to the rescue when no other bakeries were open nearby/ they only accepted preorders. I bought a chocolate mousse cake which was only $18!! WHAT A STEAL! And it was delicious! Definitely was not too sweet which I was afraid of. I also bought some California rolls for the road and they tasted great. Rochs looks exactly like Trader Joe's but a bit smaller and homier. A real treasure. This small market is packed with everything you need. In addition to a good assortment of grocery items the store carries great fresh veggies and fruit, a good deli section and quality meat and poultry. They also have yummy desserts and other prepared foods. I go intending to buy a few things and always find myself leaving with many other things which look good and always are. Just left Rochs in Narragansett and wanted to offer some input. I have lived in Bonnet for 12 years and love the convenience and quality of this little store. However, there is one area I feel that they need to come up more to speed with the times . With so many people stopping at Rochs to purchase items, especially for beach trips, I have found through the years it's best to order ahead as they can be very busy. Having said that, I find consistently a problem with their system. You order ahead so your items will be ready to pick up thereby eliminating the wait yet when you arrive, you have to wait in line sometimes very long, for orders to just pick up. It makes no sense! Today, one of the ladies in front of me was ordering everything for a luncheon which was quite lengthy. It is so frustrating knowing your order is there just sitting on the counterbut have to wait 10 to 15 minutes or longer just to pick up your bag. Why don't they follow the policy that the Panera, Starbucks, and many other food service places provide. Have an area where all the pre-ordered items can be picked up away from the ordering counter and possibly just have the person checking out your purchase confirm that you have the right name on the bag. I only say this as the employee behind the counter told me that the problem was they couldn't leave the ordered items out because people take the wrong order. Somehow this system manages to work in other places which provides customers with a better experience, and less crowding at the deli counter. read more

A fantastic locally owned (add a star) market that has incredible produce and meats. Fresh, fresh and more fresh. The bakery assortment - whether breads that they slice on that really cool looking bread slicer thing or pastry-type desserts - awesome and fresh. Always super-pleasant people who are helpful. Stop by on your way to the beach to grab some fresh sandwiches (or wraps), chips and a soda. Oh yeah, and maybe some fresh fruit (great variety including stuff like star fruit and kiwis and that nasty looking UGLI graefruit) or a salad - they are pretty darn good. A daily stop on the way home for me - whether to grab some steaks or chicken or salmon for the grill and the asparagus - oh boy, I could go on and on. Just a very nice alternative to the usual chain grocery store! I just wish it was a little bigger so that they could stock more. That is really my only beef (ha ha - get it?). read more

I went to Roch's and while shopping I saw they had steak tips on a reduced sale. I bought them and cooked them that night and they "ARE NOT STEAK TIP MEAT". I would say they are round steak. Steak tips are not tough like these were. They didn't even look like steak tips from other markets. I paid a decent price for them and when I took a first bit, I knew they were not steak tip quality. This is more than a grocery store! For my wedding, I got mini desserts and everything tasted fantastic. The store gave me a discount since I ordered it bulk. My dessert table included mini cheesecakes (turtle, strawberry, and blackberry) and different flavored macrons! I was able to pick up the desserts the day before the wedding and put them in the refrigerator. I couldn't be happier with my decision! read more

Great neighborhood market! I literally stop in there 4x week. The have a full line of boars head meat, fresh bread and rolls, their own desserts (chocolate mousse pie is to die for). They have a good small selection of produce, cheeses, and ready made sandwiches and entrees. There is a meat counter with a nice selection of fresh meat. Shopped their West Warwick location for years (now closed). This Narragansett location is upscale, clean, and well stocked for its size. This is a real neighborhood gem. I worked here for 2 months. Cheryl at the deli would pretend to be as nice as possible to the customers and turn around be extremely rude and verbally abusive to all the kids she has working for her. She would get mad if you ask her a question and always sigh and suck her teeth and swear at me everyday. They do not properly label the meats and cheeses and then get mad and act like it's my fault that I couldn't find the right unlabeled product. She would put me down in-front of customers and humiliate me because she couldn't keep her deli organized. Theres codes written sloppily all over the back windows of the deli. and when I told her it was a hostile work environment she told me it was my fault that I never worked with Italians (which I have) And she has the right to verbally abuse me because she is Italian. This place is full of stuck up rude old ladies that hire children they can boss around and won't stick up for themselves. Completely unprofessional work environment. read more

I love this little market. The freshest produce and premade foods. I love to stop here on the way down to the beach and get a hand crafted sandwich made to order. I work in South County and decided to stop in after work last week. Overall this is a nice little store and their bakery section looks very good. I may give it a try sometime. I found some of the prepared foods a tad overpriced for premade sandwiches that are sitting around and salads that are a bit small but the produce was actually very reasonable, surprisingly. I never go back to rhode island, where i am almost from, but yesterday I found myself in a sleepy haze at Roch's lookin' for weekend basics. milk and snacks. I have to get my coffee on. I got some delicious cheese cake, cookies made by roch's, and they had a Providence brand of ravioli as well as the Squibbs brand of Ice Tea. A great butcher shop selection. I practically buy most of my meats and poultry here. The fresh Italian is the best, almost as good as the italian homemade bread I use to have when I lived in Napoli! A nice choice of fresh vegetables. My only problem, the place is very expensive for off the shelf items. I made the mistake of grabbing a very small box of rice (can't remember the name brand) it scanned in at around $15.00! I love the fact that Roch's is from West Warwick! The original store used to be a dumpy A & P type grocery store (not supermarket) that had an excellent fruit and vegetable annex next to it. I used to walk to it to get the 3lbs. for a dollar bananas every week. Since they remodeled the place the original is much cleaner. Anyway, this store was just made for the tourists from New York and Jersey. It's cute and generally clean, has a really nice deli and meat counter. And the fruits and vegetables are usually nice and ripe. Not all the time. It's a small place which makes it difficult to push a cart around. Typically you wouldn't come here to do all your grocery shopping since it doesn't have a variety of brands or all the options a supermarket has. Sometimes they have some good specials which are helpfully posted on their sign outside. Usually I wouldn't consider their prices here very economical. I don't come to Roch's often since it's in Bonnet . I have to say of all the grocery stores around this is the cutest one in town. It's pretty when they pumpkins out or the watermelons. read more

AMAZING. A small, friendly version of whole foods. Great selection of Boars Head Deli meat and cheeses and of course willowtree chicken salad. They have great gourmet desserts and cannolis by the dozen. Their sandwiches are amazing and their bread is always delicious, fresh and reasonable. Roch's has incredibly fresh vegetables, great meat and offers enough specials to bring you in the door. While a little pricey their bread is also very good, with the right outside crunch to the baguette made daily. However, I was mortified when after painting all day a friend wanted a good Italian grinder. I thought with the fresh bread it would be the place to go. Apparently I should not have assumed! The sandwich was made on bread that looked and tasted like a glorified hot dog bun. The pesto also lacked flavor. How can you make basil tasteless? I do not often eat bread and this was suppose to be a treat. At $16 for two sandwiches they were painfully overpriced. If you advertise fresh bread made by your business, then your sandwiches should be made with it. read more

Disorganized, expensive, disrespectful, and unclean. Every transaction is only completed by the seat of the "manager's" pants, which is no compliment to them. More money is put into carrying obscure, expensive products than keeping up with building maintenance, or paying their employees a living wage. Beware of the summer crowds that send this place flying off balance, and avoid the slow months when products sit around for weeks. The only worthy products are the hand-selected produce (just be sure to wash it when you get it home), and scratch-made breads. All of the "Roch's Own" products are packed by either cashiers or underpaid produce employees in unsanitary conditions- fresh cut, unwashed fruit, nuts, candy, and snack mixes are all packed on the same table. Almost all of the prepared food (including most of the pastry) is pulled from the freezer (and if the untrained cooks are feeling particularly adventurous) is reheated, then cooled again to be sold in their prepared food cases. Infighting between departments ensures miserable employees doing the bare minimum to get through their work week. The meat department has the filthiest back storage room, and relies solely on untrained talent to keep the counter running. Low wages make for employees that only stick around for the lack of pressure that is put on them to maintain a safe work environment. Unimaginably cheap general manger makes certain of it. This place makes a nice stop for me when I take walks in Narragansett, or in the surrounding area. Its small, has a generous amount of snobby clientele, but I love their store made sausage that is very reasonably priced for the quality that it is. They also have some very good sales on their deli items and meats, and its all excellent quality. As for the general grocery section I avoid it for the most part. Save for an occasional gallon of milk or some eggs. Way too expensive over all. But when it comes to their meats they are excellent, especially their store made sausage. A great place to buy produce and meats, but I would never recommend buying all your groceries here. For Rhode Islanders, Roch's reminds me of Ryan's Market that has long since closed. Fresh and great variety of produce and top notch meats in a small locally owned market. I searched the web and upon discovering the Narragansett store was only 5.5 miles from my daughter and SILs house, I proceeded to order a $25 fruit basket for their 4th anniversary. As I was putting in my information, I noticed the site was not secure (http:// vs https://) this concerend me but I thought that by the time I got to the page to enter my CC info, it would switch to secure. Nope! Couldn't take the chance of having my ID stolen, so I deleted my order and ordered from another local competitor, (who only charged $8 for delivery). But I probably would have backed out any way after seeing the Roch's $50 delivery charge. Again, it was a $25 basket to be delivered literally 5.5 miles away! I tried to find an email address to inform them of these 2 concerns of mine, but they don't even have that! I guess this is more an indictment of their web design service, "Cyber Technical", but it tells me that they really aren't serious about on-line business.
