Our first time there and we would go back. Our party creates some challenges with a party of 10, 6 of whom are kids 10 or less. I believe the only thing keeping them from a higher ranking is staffing. The young woman who was our waitress was taking mobile orders over a mobile phone as well. If you ever go to a restaurant with six kids of this age group (youngest is 2) you want food and drink in front of them as quickly as possible. So I ordered two appetizers of chips and cheese as soon as I could. I believe it could have been delivered sooner if they weren't so short staffed. I was also surprised that the bar has no setups, so essentially if you want a drink, it is straight booze. As for the food, everyone enjoyed their meals, I had the Reuben sandwich and it didn't blow my socks off, but it was a good representation of a Reuben. My friend and I went in there to try someplace new and she did not care for her meal she only took a couple bites they would not give her a new meal unless she wanted to pay half price forthe mail that she was eating that she didn't like and then would pay full price for a new meal. I don't believe that that's quite right they should have just taken that as a loss and made her something different. read more

This one hurts. Honestly, there's no restaurant I've ever traveled so far to dine at. 2,035 miles. Okay, I didn't travel the majority of those miles JUST for this place...I was about a hundred miles away for another obligation. But still, even that hundred miles was the furthest I'd ever driven to check out a place. But I had to be here. I HAD to do this...for the name's sake. Roch's Place. It's my name too. 3rd proud generation of Rochs from France to America dating back to the late 1800s. So, when I sat down and ordered my beer, I slid my drivers license on the bar showing the bartender and telling her my story and that I'd love to meet the owner if he's around just to say hi and all that - and, hey do you sell any merch I can take home? She hears me out, looks at the license and says; "Oh, wow, how cool." and that was that. It wasn't particularly crowded, save for an obnoxious f-bomb dropping patron 3 beers in. But that's fine - it wasn't about me - it was about wanting to connect with the namesake of this place and/or at least have a touchpoint that made my long trip worthwhile. For food, I ask the bartender what the locals like and she says, "oh, the CHICKEN TENDERS are great.". Typically, when ordering tenders at other restaurants, you'll find an emphasis on the "tender" aspect. Not here. Over-battered and over-fried-to-death. Batter to chicken ratio 2:1. Not kiddin'. At some point a replacement bartender stepped in. I told her my 'Roch story' and asked again about the merch. After showing zero interest in any of it, she says; "I'll ask and let you know about the shirts. I don't know if we sell anything." I said; "Now?" And she said: "No, come back and I'll see." (I took that as; "I can't help, come back and maybe someone else who cares more will. Maybe.") Nope, I won't be back. I've been touting this place on socials for over 2 years and plugging my trip out to visit it for a couple of months - even going so far as to post on their page. No other visit could possibly make this place better. Sure, this is probably a nighttime hang...live guitarist out there on the deck, locals gettin' their drink on and the food, obviously, nothin' but a weak afterthought. But, if you're going to go to the trouble of being open for business, be OPEN, be present. Be anything but this. read more

We have eaten at Roch's many times. The hamburgers are fresh and you can choose what you want on them. I always get grilled onions and pepper Jack cheese. Delicious. We get onion rings with our hamburger and they are the best. Eat at Roch's and you won't be sorry read more

Ordered a cajun chicken sandwich and split an order of onion rings. The sandwich was simple but good. The onion rings were OUTSTANDING!!! Servers were very nice too. I'm glad we stopped here for dinner! read more

Glad to dine here again twice in a week. The food was very good both times. I love the varieties of cheese choices for my burger. The onion rings are excellent. A very cold Guinness in a chilled glass topped off a very enjoyable day. read more

So disappointed tonight. I brought a friend from out of town and out of state here. I really like this place so i wanted the best. But he was from California so wasn't ready to eat as early as us. We asked for menus at 9:03. Waitress told us we could no longer order food. We offered $100 to the cooks plus our dinner costs and she said that would not be fair because at least 5 other tables wanted dinner too and they would be jealous. I don't think I can ever go here again because they clearly don't care about thier customers. They also tried some angle about it being illegal for us to bring in food of our own from local delivery options and oddly enough i've done a little digging and it's actually a town law that they have to serve food in order to serve alcohol. Very shady and not friendly. So disapointed. Chips or fries would have made things better. Oh well. read more

Pretty good bar food. Good greasy burgers. My wife likes the mahi mahi fish basket. Double Frisco melt is really a great sandwich.

Love to go this place for a good burger. If you order food/soda you could get out of there for under 10$ with tips. I will admit service can bad when they are busy. The bar is nothing wild, has the typical beer, few wines, and some hard liquors. It will get loud in there when a big sporting event is going on. read more

Bicycled my way here today from Urbana on the new Kickapoo Rail Trail. This is a nice small town bar. The two ladies working the bar were nice and friendly. The Bud Light can I drank was COLD. I ordered a double cheeseburger with all my favorite fixings. It was greasy and good. Had a side of coleslaw that was pretty good as well. The bartender graciously refilled my water bottle for me. I'll be back next time I find myself in St. Joe for sure. read more

Cannot recommend this place. Went here for dinner. Sat at table for 30 minutes, by the time the server came around to check on us , we asked for menus and she informed us the kitchen closed 5 minutes prior so she could not accept our order. We talked to management and told them the situation, even offering to pay an extra $100 for them to serve us. They said that would not be fair because at least 5 other tables have requested dinner also.??? (Great business model). Unfortunately, we were told they could not serve us dinner no matter what. We asked if we could order takeout and have it delivered. They told us that was illegal to have outside food on the premises. That is a lie. We asked for our bill and left. Great burgers!! We like to go here for great American food, i.e. burgers, fries, other fried goodies! Worth the little drive.
