One heck of a place. Been here a few times and never did a review. Always meant to do one. So today had a big take out order to deliver to KC. They knocked if out of the park. Came in at lunch time. Ya I know not best time. The place was flowing with local patrons who knew everyone. That is very nice to see. I got my order placed. Sat down out of the way and before I knew it, the sweetest gal brought me my two bags of to go and explained the packing and what was what. Like top notch. They have done this before. Then time to eat and let's say both families that I brought this back were very pleased. Let's rock this again and will be back for more!! Thank you to the team there. Keep it up. Waitress was welcoming as was the atmosphere. Thats where it stopped. We both ordered the belly buster. There was no lettuce or tomato as listed on the menu. There was maybe a thin slice of ham and a thin slice of turkey buried beneath the cheese. These had to of been microwaved as they were so hot we had to wait to eat it. Right across the street from the hotel I was staying in, so it was a convenient walk here for lunch. My favorite thing about this place was the ambiance. We were greeted immediately upon entering and chose a seat out back on the patio which was bright and colorful. We were immediately given menus and asked for our drink order. There are a lot of drinks to choose from. My go to is rum, but there are very few on the menu that contain rum. Asked about the Chili Cheese Dip, but it is seasonal so it want available. Went with the Spinach Artichoke Dip instead, and it was pretty good. I ordered the Chicken Salad which comes with an assortment of ingredients that work together. The Naan Bread was really good and my favorite part of the plate. My friend ordered the BLT and it was really really good. I think next time I'll either get that or try a sandwich. Service was good throughout as two servers checked the table 6 or 7 times during the meal. read more

The other reviews are right. This place is really good. I had the veggie sandwich (and I'm not a vegetarian) and it was SOOOO GOOD!!!!! The sourdough hoagie is special and so soft and perfect. I'm not quite sure why that sandwich was so good I just know it was. It does have cheese so it's not vegan but I'd recommend it even if you're not vegetarian and just want a lighter dish. The bartender who took my order was really nice and friendly and the food came out in less than 5 minutes. I also got the shrimp bisque which was just ok but honestly it could have been awful and I'd have given this place 5 stars for how good the veggie sandwich was. It's your typical bar ambience but not too loud. Next time I'm in town I'm definitely going to sit and have a drink while enjoying my sandwich. read more

Was in Manhattan this weekend for the Arizona vs. Kansas State football game and had a few K-State alumni in AZ recommend this place. After walking around campus for a couple hours on Saturday morning, I popped in thinking I would get a quick bite and drink. I was told there was a 45 minute wait, but pleasantly surprised when the hostess Mallory called me back moments later saying she found me a spot at the bar after two folks showed up missing a member of their three-person party. A K-Stater recommended I order a Nancy and Pastrami with sweet and spicy mustard, which was a terrific suggestion. While I am not entirely sure what goes in a Nancy, I did enjoy how sweet and refreshing the beer was. My sandwich was great as well. High quality ingredients, and a great ratio of meat, to veggies, to bread. I was then encouraged by a number of other Rock-A-Belly goers to try a Summer Beer, which is a large pint of PBR, with a splash of vodka and lemonade. Let me just say...WOW! While I won't disclose just how many of those I drank, I would highly recommend ordering one if you pop in. I also enjoyed a couple Bloody Mary's, including one with Mallory, yes the same Mallory from above, and thoroughly enjoyed my interaction with everyone in the bar. Rich, one of the co-owners, is one of the coolest and most down to earth folks I have ever met. He's super easy going, incredibly kind to all his customers and staff, and my beverage was never empty! His daughter, Ainsley(?), also works at the restaurant, which only adds to the small-town, family feel of this bar. Overall, this is one of the best bars and hangouts I have ever been to, not just in Manhattan, but in general. I would encourage anyone in town to make this a must stop on their trip. Love, love, love RAB. I check their daily special during the work week and have gone many times solely for that reason but their regular menu is great. Their hummus is the best. There is a good variety of beers on tap for the few handles they have and you can count on a quality IPA among them. The place has a neat vibe and the patio is worth checking out even in the heat of the summer. Friendly staff and always good service. If you're visiting Manhattan, you should take the time to go here. read more

This has been a favorite place of mine for decades. But the owner, Rich Markel, drunk, had the gall to make passes at my wife while I was present. His advances were summarily refused. While I stepped away to the restroom, Rich grabbed my wife's arm. This is the ugliest and most disrespectful thing to have happened to us . We will not go back. Got the special (Beef Barbacoa Tacos) and these were good. I also ordered a small Chile Con Queso. This is literally the nasty "nachos" you get when you order nachos from a high school concession stand. I ate one chip and sent them back. Imagine my surprise when I was charged for the nachos... er "Chile Con Queso." I asked them to take it off my bill since I did didn't eat it (which most places are happy to do). Rock-A-Belly is not one of those places so I got charged for the high school concession stand nachos that I never ate. They offer you several sides options for your sandwich but what I always jump on, is the German potato salad band wagon. If the name alone doesn't compel you to try it, you should know they are potatoes, served hot with a sort of what I can only describe is a semi-sweet-ish dressing. From the front curbside I had no idea that this was such a fantastic place! From the front entrance through the back to the outdoor dining is quite nostalgic. We were met at the door by a friendly receiving face. Our outdoor dining and heated seating with a fabulous waitress and unbelievable outstanding food. The atmosphere was like a little piece of suburbia. I wish I could pick this whole place up and move it to New England. When I envisioned my job, I always figured it would take me to Manhattan. Just not Manhattan, Kansas. Although this journey was unexpected, it was made all the more pleasant thanks to my lunch visit to Rock-A-Belly (or RAB for the patrons) Bar & Deli. A good friend and KState alum recommended RAB, and threw out some menu recommendations to boot. I had the chicken salad on pita with a side of hummus. The pita was pretty delicate so I ended up using a fork to eat the contents, but the hummus more than made up for the mess. My favorite thing about Rock-A-Belly is hands down the atmosphere. Unabashedly eclectic, I couldn't help but find myself playing "I Spy" alone while enjoying my meal. The clientele is comprised of college students, professors, and other locals, but they all seem united in their die-hard love for RAB. read more

As for the bread, got the sourdough hoagie and as for my side item, the German potato salad. Once our food finally came out.. it looked rather small. But what made it amazing was how big the taste was. It was extremely fresh, well put together, and the meat had a smokey taste to it. I could taste each individual ingredient and it melded well in my mouth. The German potato salad was good too. I didn't have much expectation as I've never had the "German" equivalent to the regular kind I usually order from any place. Even the potatoes had a smokey flavor present in them. They were soft but solid. Their prices are a bit too high in my opinion. If they were 6 to 6.50 a sandwich, I think it would be a bit more reasonable. Great little spot in Aggieville that usually isn't full of college students which can be a nice escape if you need it. The food is just simple deli food but the best you'll find in Manhattan.
