They offer a-g core classes plus theater, art classes, etc. It's an in-person learning environment two days per week (set up much like college courses) that offers online access to most of the curriculm with the option in some classes to purchase the physical text book. The teachers are good, and some are frankly excellent. No muss, no fuss. It's just about educating your child. The teachers are approachable and responsive, and this is true for all grades (K-12), but I mention it because my son is in high school and although he is getting more mature I still am involved in his education. I like that I can email the teachers and ask whatever I need to ask and get a response quickly. (I say this because my friend's son attends a local highly regarded charter school and the parent emailed one of his teachers. The teacher responded that the student needed to talk to him; that's it - the teacher didn't answer any questions or provide any helpful feedback to the parent. Fast forward a few months and the parent emailed that same teacher again, and the teacher never responded. I mean seriously, this isn't college, these kids aren't 18 or even 17 years old yet, and parents are still responsible for their own kid and their education. !!!!) Bluedoor doesn't have their own organized sports teams, but some community sports organizations come to recruit students to join their teams. This last semester girls tried out for a womens volleyball club. Bluedoor is located at the old Alta Vista School site, which is wonderful. It's a typical school campus with normal kids going from class to class and getting a good education. Just a side note: We watched the most recent theater performance by the Theater Students a couple weekends ago, and man was it fantastic! I was impressed with the acting, the sets, the lighting, and how professional everything was. It was amazing. I swear, the teachers at Bluedoor are The Best.

The biggest concern is the lack of stable leadership. The school can't seem to retain principals, and the constant turnover creates inconsistency for students, teachers, and families. It's difficult to build a strong school culture when leadership is always changing. I believe the school is on their 9th principal in 6yrs. This is a major red flag and a huge concern about what the board is doing behind the closed doors For the tuition families pay, the quality of education simply doesn't meet expectations. Many of the school's strongest educators have already left/retired or are nearing retirement, and it raises concerns about the future of the academic program. Another major concern is the Board of Directors' involvement in day-to-day school operations. I've never heard of board members walking around campus writing up students for behavior--that responsibility belongs to school administrators, not the governing board. It blurs the lines between governance and management and creates confusion about who is actually leading the school. It's also concerning that board members appear to be making significant educational decisions despite having little or no professional background in education or business. Families entrust the school with their children's education and expect those decisions to be guided by experienced educational leadership. My son made great memories with his teachers and teammates, and I'm grateful for those experiences. Unfortunately, the school's leadership, governance, and overall educational value make it difficult for me to recommend it to other families. The school is located in a beautiful area and has great potential to thrive and be amazing. But it needs a new leadership and new board and for Lori Kirk to fully step away from this school. I would seriously speak to other families who have left the school prior to investing thousands of dollars into your child's education I've had 2 children attend this school. One left to Del Oro for stronger academics and AP classes and the other one graduated FLC in 2026
