This is the most open cavern I have ever been in and you almost feel like you are in a dark warehouse, it's so big! No "tight" spaces of any kind. Heights might be your issue if that is a concern. If you have any climbing, repelling, spelunking, or exploring experience, this is a "walk in the park" for you. No experience is needed and they take care of everything. Some of the grading doesn't seem very consistent. Staff is nice. Kids and adults of all ages are welcome. It's definitely fun to experience it at least once! The day pass is currently $30 per person with all gear rentals included. No price reduction if you bring your own gear. The membership cost is hefty, $100 per month or $80 if prepay... that's close to 1K per person at a minimum. One membership bonus is that all classes are free. If I resume climbing on a regular basis, I might consider shelling out some $$.

My son loved climbing, as this is definitely his wheelhouse, but not necessarily mine lol. There were numerous walls to climb with the ropes/harnesses utilized and other boulder walls with a harness or rope not used but with a padded flooring under the ways. Xtremenasium Trampoline Park is fine for doing all of those things that kids love to do. It has multiple trampolines, a trampoline dodge ball court, a ninja warrior course, multiple foam pits, an indoor playground for young kids, and a few other features. The admission fee grants you unlimited access to everything for one hour, which was more than enough time for my kids. Honestly, I'm glad they limited it to one hour, because then I didn't have to be the bad guy and drag them away from their fun. It was more like, "Oh no! We have to leave! Our one hour is done! Xtremenasium said we have to go!" It's Xtremenasium's fault, see? Not mine. The whole thing was too stimulating for me, and I was ready to leave after about 10 minutes. But our visit to this trampoline park wasn't about me. It was about my kids, and taking them to a place that was fun for them, so nevertheless, I persisted. I ignored the crowds and screaming and lack of fresh air, as you do at these places. But the reason for the three stars is that all of those stimulating things seemed a tad more amplified here, and everything I touched was just a touch grimier than it should have been. I don't know -- your mileage may vary, depending on how high-strung you are. In the end, Xtremenasium served its purpose. My kids were here to bounce and play and leave sweaty, and they did and had a good time.

The gym has loads of equipment for all different types of training like free weights, treadmills, machines, and is spaced out fairly well. The only downside with the gym is sometimes it will get too busy and there will be a wait time for machines, but there's loads of different variations if you need them, other than that it is amazing. The recreational center has more than the gym itself, it also has exercise class rooms like cycling and zumba, multiple basketball courts, an indoor track, and even a rock climbing wall with staff to help newcomers. Overall this center has something for everyone and I have personally loved my experiences here. I would positively recommend this space to anyone looking to meet new people or just fill time in your day.

It's a great way to get my head off the stresses from school and meet new people who have similar interests to myself. The faculty have all been nice from what I've seen and interacted with. It's mostly college students here at Kentucky. Most of the negative online reviews focus on the gym's layout, which is next to the basketball courts, and I would have to agree that this is probably the gym's weakest point. I don't like that there are two floors to the gym and that it is so crowded. But if you go at the right time, I'm sure it's similar to every gym. Other than that, there aren't many negative things I could say about it. I've enjoyed my experiences so far and plan to keep going to the Johnson Center in the future.

When you pay your monthly fee, your money is going to a whole host of programs. For example... * This YMCA (Southwest) has preschool that is heavily subsidized. Let's be honest - who is likely putting their children in subsidized preschool? Probably single mothers. And it's one of the best preschools in the city. * The Southwest YMCA also has an adult daycare for individuals with special needs or stroke victims, etc. Also heavily subsidized. * The YMCA on 10th and Chestnut has a homeless shelter. Completely subsidized. * The Northeast YMCA does a lot with the blind and water safety. * Safe Place is a division of the YMCA, and it is 100% subsidized. Go read up on what Safe Place is. It'll blow your mind. I could go on, but you get my point. When you get a membership at ANY of Louisville's YMCAs in the city, your money is going to support the above. The Southwest YMCA, I mentioned what it has. As well, it is a gym. And it's a great gym. The Southwest YMCA has the following: * Indoor pool * Childcare so your kids can be entertained while you workout * A rock climbing wall for the kids * Tons of classes like Zumba, Yoga, and Spinning * Basketball court * Free weights * All your standard gym equipment The Southwest YMCA is pretty big. It's not huge, but it's big enough. It gets busy after work hours and just before work hours. If you're looking for *JUST* a gym, then the YMCA may not be for you (although it will serve that purpose). However, if you're looking for your money to go further than just paying for you to be able to use a gym, then sign up at the YMCA. It's a great charity, and I'm glad to pay a monthly membership.
