I interviewed a few masonry companies for repairing spalling brick in my basement. Some wanted to…read moreparge the walls, which was not what I wanted. Some quoted me fairly high prices for the repair, but Martin Forde offered me the best, and most reasonable cost for the job. During our interview Martin struck me as a competent, and fair mason and he is responsive by email, which are valuable traits in a contractor. We scheduled the job, and he and his team showed up right on time. The first thing I learned is that Forde masonry may not have a full time staff. Martin definitely came out to my job periodically to deliver materials, but the masons who did the work were actually two latinos who seemed to be day laborers. They were competent, and very polite as I asked questions in my broken Spanish, but that makes accountability a little more difficult. That became a problem when I was in the basement with another contractor, and I saw one of the mason repairing a hole that was two withes thick. He was just repairing the outward face that I could see, but leaving a whole in the second layer. I asked him about it, so he dropped some mortar into the hole, a few bricks, and kept on with his repair. Yes, it visually looks fine and I would not have noticed if I were not watching as the hole was getting closed up, but that is not what I expect when I hire a professional mason to repair my walls. My job is done though, and I hopefully will not need masonry help for a while. Most of the issues I had are easily fixed with a little more attention to detail, and oversight, so I would encourage others to give Martin a chance if you need masonry help.

He was a nice man!…read more However, after many follow up calls to the owner due to an incomplete job, I was told by his assistant that he was "too busy" to call me back. Ultimately, the job we agreed to with contract was not done to completion, in spite of the assistant's insistence that it was. The owner was not on the job EITHER day and this is important. While the crew came back to attempt to complete the original job ( we appreciated that!), the owner was not there. The result was that the job is currently STILL not what we agreed upon. The owner is not willing to return to finish it. Caveat emptor...just know that if the job is not done according to agreement, you will have trouble reaching the owner and it will not be made right. We really wanted to have a great experience!

Waste of money and time. Now I have diverter on roof which doesn't serve its purpose. I called multiple times to come and fix it and i been told he will stop by and I didn't see him and called again and no response after. I guess he doesn't care. Today TJ finished his second project for us and did another terrific job. He did our front brick…read moresteps in the spring time and tiled our kitchen and foyer in the winter. He is consistently the best price in town but more importantly he is corteous, friendly, reliable and meticulous. He seems to make a point of over-delivering. He is the best VALUE in town. I would recommend TJ for any masonry or tile job. He had a team of people to support him with our tile job and they worked like a machine. First TJ adds value with input on stone, grout and trim. He arrives as scheduled to a) rip up our multiple layers of old flooring, b) add the appropriate height backerboard to get our tile to the proper height, c) lay tile so we could walk around our kitchen and hallway as he worked, d) grout and e) clean-up. This was no easy assignment - more than 300 sf of tiling with some crazy cuts to our flooring that stretched from our front entry foyer to our hallway and into our kitchen.

Please do not hire this company. They start at a reasonable price then find all kinds of things…read morewrong and the price keep going up and up. They pressure you to sign a contract for the work and the work is subpar. It does not meet code or professional workmanship. They sat in my house for couple of hours until i signed despite the fact that i told them i had to check with my attorney and would let them know in the morning. They refused to leave. I should have called the police right then and there. I did contact the police later that week when i saw the results of the job. I also checked with city hall to see if they had pulled a permit as I was told by them that they had the inspector coming next week. This was after they finished the job and wanted payment. Lo and behold city hall said no permit was pulled and no inspection was ordered. Their names are Freddie and Matthew. The work was done by 2 gentlemen who do not speak English. I will be taking legal action on this matter to recoup what i paid since I have to have all the work completely redone and it has comprised the integrity of our 4 season room. I also just recently lost my husband and they preyed on that. Unfortunately, i was scammed. I repeat, do not use them.

Lorenzo and his team arrived at 8am, they got to work pronto. They were here to prune a number of…read moretrees that were 100ft high, they worked hard all day. Lorenzo has all the big equipment to do a job like this. I was impressed with his big new bucket truck and his tree grinder. They put so many branches that were like trees themselves into that thing, it was kind of amazing to watch it. They were very neat in their work, did not tear up my yard. Put down some plywood, cleaned up after themselves, and also pruned and shaped some smaller trees in my front yard. They were very careful where the branches would come to rest after they were cut and very skilled in the exact place they lowered the branches onto the ground. They used chainsaws and pruners and roped all the larger pieces so they could control exactly where any limb landed. Overall, I couldn't be happier with their job and wouldn't hesitate to use them for anything else and they do quite a few different things.
