Pastor Matt's teaching is sound and Bible-based, the worship is dynamic, and the people are genuinely welcoming and loving. My husband and I have been attending RHC faithfully for almost 3 years. Let's start at the beginning... When we walked in we were greeted warmly and genuinely by many people of all different walks. We immediately felt safe and welcomed here. Then worship started and it was exactly what we were looking for. Contemporary styled worship that is done to glorify the Lord and only the Lord. We were already pretty comfortable with our visit but it was when we heard the word of God through head pastor Matt that we knew this was the church for us. Although it might seem wrong to critique a church and I am sure the staff's hearts are in the right place, this church still has a lot of growing to do. They pride themselves on being welcoming, but as a first time attender I felt isolated due to the fact that I didn't fit in to the "hipster" mold that so many members of the church seem to embody. I have always felt like worship should be a time to praise God but instead it seemed like I was watching a singing contest as some of the girls in the band were competing for who could sing the lead. The overall atmosphere of the church made me feel like being myself wasn't good enough. If I didn't conform to a fashion forward wardrobe and I wasn't a part of the forward group that seemed to have established the church then I had no real place in the congregation. Though I found the pastors messages to be encouraging. After several visits, I never felt like this was home. After the initial meet and greet, the church staff was nowhere to be found. I hope that if they ever read this, that it will be a tool for them to use to understand what can be changed for the future. read more

I've been at Rock Hill Baptist Church for a little over a month and I absolutely love it. I was immediately welcomed by various members of the church. Many of the leaders from Rock Hill reached out to me during rough times and started to help me find my place in the church. They always find ways to get the community and church involved. Within this last month I have attended smalls groups, gave my testimony on stage, was baptized, volunteered, and more. Although church is only on Sunday, they have so many activities going on during the week. Some examples are small groups, women's bible study, youth group, etc. The environment in itself is very comfortable. It is a church where you can be yourself and not have to worry about being judged. I have met a large variety of people and ALL were very nice. One of my favorite things about RockHill is how we all get together and worship. You can truly feel Gods presence! Matt Chappell is an amazing pastor. He predominantly references the Bible to guide his sermons. This helps me truly understand Gods word. One benefit of Rock Hill is that they have bible reading plans that they use on the youversion app. So if group bible study is not for you, you can check out the app and read on your own. They also have podcasts and other multimedia platforms. I also wanted to mention that they have a kids room. I bring my nephews with me to church and drop them off in the kids room. They have two or more rooms where they learn, eat snacks, do fun activities, and play with other kids. It is a free and well managed program. I like that they assign stickers to the parents with the children's names and contact information. The parents must show them the sticker to pick the child up. My nephews loved it! Lastly, they have coffee and treats before/after service. They have gave out several treats like donuts, churros, cookies, klatch coffee, waters, etc. If you are a new member they also have awesome books that they give out. The one I received was Dark Horse written by Matt Chappell himself. To sum it all up, I'm so grateful to call Rock Hill my home church. They have so much to offer. Take that leap of faith and visit Rock Hill. You won't regret it! read more

Although founded by Paul Chapell's son Matt Chapell, this is not a Fundamental Baptist Church. I would categorize this as similar to Calvary Chapel. If you like Calvary Chapel's format of worship then this Church is perfect for you. The stage is well lit with multiple singers and band members up front while the rest of the auditorium is dark. It reminds me of the rock and roll concerts back in the days. The music is borderline for my taste which is rigged up for more liberal Churches. Make sure you use your smartphone or mobile pad to reference the Bible because you will have a hard time reading from a printed Bible. The funny thing in all this is that the Church Pastor's father used to condemn Churches like this and it wind up that his son started one. read more
