Came here about a month after its opening. The bridge is cool. However the music is SO LOUD omg I don't want to be screaming the whole time to talk with my friends. Also it's so windy all the time too. You can order at the window and sit outside or on another floor, or you can choose to sit inside and eat like a normal restaurant. The menu is pretty limited. However the burger was really good! I don't love a burger but this one really was amazing. And it came out ssssooooo fast. Like 5 mins or less. That was crazy lol. Overall decent time! We have been wanting to visit Rock Island Bridge since we heard about the project being developed. It was a decent experience. The restaurant was on a 90 minute wait to be seated inside. But it was a warm Friday night. The to go order window line wasn't too long so we waited and ordered some things for our group of six. A lot of the tables on the west side of the bridge are in the smoking area, which is disappointing that it was that large. I got a cheeseburger and some chips and it was just okay. Nothing to write home about. The drinks were not cheap, but not ridiculous. Parking is an absolute disaster. Quite possibly the worst parking experience in the metro. They're just isn't enough of it and they didn't make a deal with Hy-Vee Arena to let people park there so that's not available. It's an unfortunate situation because it's a decent place and experience, but the parking is so bad that we will not return. read more

It's finally open! Got a chance to check out this historical attraction and one of a kind experience recently. The views are stunning. There's a bar on the top level. A restaurant on the middle level. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. There street parking but it was few spots the day I went. There is a parking garage about a block or so away. The are adding lots of events in this space. You can also reserve the top level for private events. I'll be back. It's cool. read more

I stopped by Rock Island Bridge for the first time to watch a World Cup match, and it turned out to be a great spot for it. The atmosphere was lively and unique, making it a fun place to hang out even beyond the game. My wife and I shared the smoked BBQ chicken nachos and a hot honey chicken wrap with fries. The wrap was a little underwhelming, but the smoked chicken was still tasty. The fries were perfectly crispy, and the nachos were a generous portion loaded with flavorful smoked BBQ chicken. Service was friendly, drink prices were reasonable, and I'd definitely come back for the atmosphere alone. read more

I had a wonderful dinner on the bridge at River House but that is a separate entity and a seperate Yelp review. The bridge itself is a engineering marvel and a truly unique destination for Kansas Citians and visitors. The hike to get here might be a tad long from the parking lots unless you are lucky to get a space on American Royal Dr. like I did, but don't let that discourage you. The view is a unique panorama of Hy-Vee Arena, Quality Hill, the WestSide and of course the Kaw River, its banks and levee and a few other bridges that cross it nearby. The banks of the river could use some landscaping, but I'm sure that will follow soon and when the trees blossom in the next few weeks, the surroundings will look even more amazing. I witnessed a speed boat zooming under us and many planes circling above to land at the nearby Downtown Wheeler Airport. An iconic symbol of how dependent and interconnected we are despite a stateline that can often divide us. Another must-do when friends from out of town arrive. read more

this place is super cool!!! It just opened a couple days ago so it was extremely packed but in the summer, this will be the place to go!! there is a bunch of street parking by the hyvee arena and into the stockyards district. We didn't try any of the food or cocktails but it seemed like they had specialty drinks. The inside area is heated and has windows that open to the outside. The whole thing is like an indoor/outdoor experience over water. Pretty cool to just walk around and hang with friends. You can go free or choose to buy a meal/drinks. The Rock Island Bridge reconnects Kansas City to our rich railroad heritage and connections to water in a way never before experienced. We parked on American Royal Drive and even though the cars were lined up it was only about a 5 minute walk. We saw a map that guided guests to additional spaces in the garage behind Stockyards Brewing CO or the HyVee Arena lot. We saw that their were no reservations available at the River House Restaurant but thought we would try the Rock Island Eats , their more casual walk up window service. I am really glad we did. I have included pics of both menus.... but more on that in a minute. There are quite a few steps but also a long meandering ramp, and we saw a lift on the bridge to the 2nd floor. The actual former railroad Bridge is striking. It's hard to put into words. We were mesmerized by it's architecture and the way they effectively integrated modern features. It's bigger and roomier than we imagined. It was only 7 pm on a Tuesday and I think a free yoga class had just finished up top in the American Royal Hall, so the Hall was closed, but we climbed the stairs and peaked inside this striking and soaring space. The restaurant and bar below were packed. We probably could have gotten table service but opted for the walk up window. Ordering was simple and they would text when it was ready. We could have sat anywhere outside but the sun was dropping so they told us to take a seat "inside" which was so nice! My hamburger was delicious, his hot dog rather standard, but the RailYard fries were hot and seasoned to perfection. He had a Bourbon Ona Bridge which was banana deliciousness and my Iron & Agave would have been perfect if I had asked for more pineapple... next time : ) The place was electric and we did not envy the staff going from one end to the other (which seemed like 2 city blocks). We came for the view... and we got it. We both could have sat there for hours watching the everchanging light reflecting on the water, ducks and fish splashing around, and rowers making circles in the water. Make a reservation but don't let not having one turn you away. I am guessing on a weekend or a really nice day prepare yourself to be patient and just enjoy it all... buy a drink and walk across to Kansas and then back LOL. read more

Great addition to KC! The bridge has such a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a date night or a get-together with friends and family. There's plenty of seating, spacious bars on both levels, personable service, great views, and delicious food and drinks. Even with the gloomy weather on opening day, we found ourselves lingering and just enjoying the vibe and fresh air. Tim and I recently visited the Rock Island Bridge, entering from the Kansas Avenue side. It is evident that the area requires further cleanup efforts, as the surroundings are still under construction, with considerable mud and gravel present. Fortunately, the weather was pleasant, which contributed to a higher volume of visitors. In my opinion, I believe that the bridge should be restricted to individuals aged 21 and above, with no children allowed. I did not experience any difficulties while walking across the bridge, and I appreciated the opportunity to sit, relax, and take in the surroundings. In my opinion, the area is likely to be extremely hot during the summer months, and it would be beneficial for the management to invest in umbrellas for outdoor seating. We did not have the opportunity to visit the restaurant or purchase drinks, as it was extremely busy. However, we did explore the second floor, and I appreciated the fact that the bridge's original structure was preserved in many areas. Overall, the experience was enjoyable, and I would consider returning. I am particularly interested in visiting the bridge at night when it is illuminated. read more

Great views, great service and great menu options for single serving to 2-4 people. I tried both multi serving options -smoked chicken and 2 The muscle pot. Both was absolutely delicious. My personal favorite was the muscle pot. The broth and bread to sop up was beyond delicious comfort food and fun to share. We ordered every appetizer available and loved them all. My favorite was the Smoked Trout Dip and the Corn ribs (I couldn't get enough of the sauce with a slight kick to it). The nachos were impressive as well, not your average nachos here. The cocktails ware well balanced with each order and our group managed to try most if not all signature cocktails offered. That was on my first trip there. My second visit was to try the Crab roll and the other sides we missed the first time. I tried to be good and limit my read intake from the crab roll but the juicy crab seasoned broth got the better of me and I ate the entire roll. Sorry not sorry! Underwhelming. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. 75 and sunny. The bar upstairs was empty . ‍. I make a better turkey sandwich at home. Turkey was dry, white thick sandwich bread was dry and the baked BBQ chips were not good. They only put a few chips on the sandwich itself- I assumed they were going to be a "side" and regular good old fashion BBQ chips. Nope. Dry unfavorable baked chips. Views were ok. we did make reservations for a table inside although when we arrived we didn't really need that they do have high tops next to the edge which does definitely give a better view and you have a sense of how high up you really are and they have low tables they do have some heaters in there too cuz it's not quite toasty time yet! the cocktail menu does feature a lot of local liquor makers and so I tried the gimlet it was nice and refreshing the Gin from Tom's town is always a hit with me and there were several drinks from rieger that I'll definitely be trying to. there are no beers on taps they're all in bottles and cans but there is a nice selection. we didn't necessarily go for a meal but we did try a few sides the french fries were good but the sauces that were on the side were very interesting definitely not catch up and definitely not Mayo my server didn't know what they were made from and after my tour around the place I forgot to ask we also got the charred veggies they two were in a fantastic sauce little heavy on the broccoli and less on the cauliflower which was disappointing I would have liked to have had more cauliflower or a nice mix of both. our server was great she was excited to be there and she was looking forward to the Summer where I'm sure they're going to be slammed. after our drinks we did a little self tour I walked to the upper level so what you can also do is they have a walk-up window where I assume you can order drinks and food and go sit wherever you might want to on the bridge upstairs or on the ends that aren't covered the views upstairs are definitely better but it was windy but again depending on the weather of the day it could be the perfect spot to sit. I envision being out there for some great sunsets it may be even inside for watching a storm roll in or out. you can park along the road I don't know if there is any other specific parking for the bridge but there is a parking lot that on there as well just a tige of a walk over to the bridge. it's definitely worth going even if you don't have a drink or food you can simply walk through as it is also a trail but I'd say it's a perfect Summer spot to have a cocktail!! read more

The concept is cool. It's still a new establishment and there's so much potential for growth. I had high expectations after watching all the local KC influencer videos and felt underwhelmed with my experience. Consider extra time for parking, especially if there is an event at the stadium. There are only 3 avenues to obtain food (restaurant, walk up window and pizza cart behind the restaurant). There's a full bar in the restaurant and a beer/pizza stand behind it. The upstairs bar only sells beer and canned drinks. I recommend getting a reservation ahead of time. We went on a Saturday around 530 and there was a 45 min wait for 2 people without reservation. It took almost just as long to get our order from the walk up window. I ordered a "hot honey" wrap and was disappointed to find hair in my food and it lacked the "hot honey" as advertised. Staff was kind enough to quickly replace my wrap. Staff in general were attentive and kind. The burger was ok. Fries were amazing. The views and the breeze were nice. read more

The idea is interesting...execution lacking. To start we were there about 10 days after they opened on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The space is sparse yet cool. The non-dinner menu is "elevated" (maybe) concession food. Service was fine, except that we were not given appetizer plates, cutlery or napkins. All of which was remedied. I would hope they will work out some minor kinks soon. The view, although impacted by the rain, is interesting. Great view of the river but the rest is West Bottoms Industrial. This place will be Very Hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's all open-ish air with overhead heaters but probably no A/C. The upstairs / event space is pretty cool and would be a great place for live music. There didn't appear to be adequate restrooms if it were crowded. One final issue....probably for me only.....for some reason I'm always suspect of a bar/restaurant that doesn't have draft beer. For some reason it says something to me about the place even if it really isn't a big deal. In all, it felt like a cool park rather than a place I would go for a night or afternoon out. Worth a stop but doubt I'll be back unless w/ a group. read more

We were quite disappointed in our visit to the Rock Island Bridge. We went into the restaurant to eat and the service was horrible despite not many people dining. The quality of the food was not good. The shrimp cocktail was just some shrimp in a bowl of melted ice and the oysters were tiny and also served in a bowl of melted ice, so sitting in just cold water. Overall, not very satisfied and we will not find our way back. The location is solid but once you get to the actual bridge and restaurant/bar itself the magic dies down after a while aside from the beautiful architecture of the Bridge. The murky river water you are above is only fun for so long. Not their fault, just what it is. On top of that we went this past Saturday and stood in line for roughly 10 minutes as they were fairly busy. At about 6:40 a dark haired female bartender yelled out "okay that's it, no more! We are done and close at 7. It takes time to break all of this down no more." My wife asked about just grabbing two cans of beer then since we just got there and website says they close at 11. The bartender responded with "nope we are closed. No more." My wife, rolled her eyes and turned away to walk out and the female bartender in a sarcastically upset tone exclaims "ooooooh i know..". As i was trying to order with someone at the same time outside, a young kid at the window was willing to accommodate just a couple cans until some bald tatted dude (presumably manager) cut him off saying no. Wouldn't look at me or explain why, just the urgent "NO WE ARE DONE". I've worked in service, there is no excuse. You can be fed up at customers or tired of the day or rushing to complete a close down, but you don't act like that. Not the service we will ever choose to come back to. A "last call" callout or maybe an accommodation of minor orders like cans for the last few people in line sounds like a better alternative considering it was 20 minutes before the close time that they chose to tell people last minute. I don't see this place going too long. At best, maybe having the run that Bar K did. If you go, hope your experience is better than what we got. Tread carefully. read more

Love the atmosphere but the food and service were absolutely horrendous. We were seated right away, which was great, but that was the only good thing with the exception of the ambiance. Received lukewarm water. We waited a long time for table service and finally had to flag someone down to take our order. Lots of service folks standing around and chit chatting with each other. Only person really moving was the bartender. It was mid afternoon so not a busy time. We ordered cocktails, an appetizer, and entrees. Cocktails arrived pretty promptly. Appetizer and entree arrived at the same time. We had to ask for napkins and cutlery. The food was room temp/cold. We tried to flag down staff again to return it to the kitchen, but couldn't get anyone's attention. We did the best we could because we were hungry and was appalled to spend over $60. Super disappointed and looking forward to the restaurant getting some competition and hopefully upping their game. read more

First. A+ for effort. This project has great potential. Execution a C+. Overall a tad dissapointing The vibe is great. The beer selection awful. Service challenging but was opening day. The place needs a more fine dining option... half of concourse set off with nice tables, candles and a tad more refined for dinner. Right now it feels too much like the concourse at Arrowhead. The outdoor venues cool but needs nicer seating. I'd go for drinks on a nice day for the view and vibe and nachos and then go to dinner somewhere else. The nachos were good. The trout dip was god awful. But but but the place can develop so wish them well but absolutely will fail if they don't dedicate floor space to nicer casual dining and why such a bad beer list. Not one stout (Guiness horse piss never counts) not one porter or 1554. Still not clear how they are going to weatherize the space???
