Upon returning the boat we received a call from Tom informing us two bumpers and an extension cord were missing. My husband informed him we never received the aforementioned items and even commented how odd it was they didn't provide us any this year as they did last year. He essentially told us since we signed off on the checklist his employee conducted that we were SOL. My husband and I were adamant we never received the items. Tom even went as far to insinuate someone must have stolen them off our pier when we weren't looking. He ended up charging us $100 for the two bumpers and the cord, which at most cost $50. Renters beware, it appears this is a common business practice of his. Do yourself a favor and believe the reviews! We will definitely be taking our business elsewhere next summer.

Along the way, I confused my pickup date to be one day later than my actual pickup. When Lakeside called on my actual delivery date, I wasn't able to pickup the boat and without hesitation delivered the boat the following day with no additional costs or hassles. The person dropping the boat was terrific. He helped us inspect the boat, showed us how to operate, and quickly sent us on our way making sure we don't have any questions. Pickup up and delivery were right on time so we weren't left waiting at the boat landing. The pontoon boat was clean and well maintained with a 90 HP Mercury engine that worked flawlessly every time. We were able to water ski without too much trouble...some wanted a faster boat. 90 HP was fine...move to a 150 HP for a quicker start or just opt for a ski boat. We wanted both living room style comfort and sport for this trip. My final invoice didn't have any surprise costs and the gas cost was surprisingly cheap for the three days of fun. While renting this pontoon boat wasn't cheap with a average daily cost of $465/day (90 HP motor, gas, ski's, prop insurance, fence lake drop off, and taxes), we had a fun everyday without the hassle of boat ownership. The installation was so terrible it ended up destroying to new canvas after 6 uses. I called and sent pics of what happend and they made every excuse in the book on how it wasn't their fault. Pictures don't lie. Even sent the pics to a places that specializes in canvas install and they couldn't believ how cobbled the install was. Basically the height of the canvas was installed uneven and it ripped off from the bottom when the camped was popped up. Recieved new canvas and installed myself after they basically ghosted me by not calling back about part availablity or the real problem.. What a joke.

Hooked it up, no tools with him, no air to check tires, squatted the truck of course. Driver hauled it fine and put it exactly where I wanted it the first time. Talked over us and stated everything was documented, it was their policy and he was entitled to all the money even though no services were rendered. This year we rented from Saturday to Saturday even though we weren't staying at our rental until Sunday. When we arrived on Sunday we were all ready to take the pontoon boat out, but there was less the 1/8 of a tank of gas in it. We were stranded and someone from Bubba's company did not arrive to fill it with gas until 7pm that night. An entire day was lost and there was NO hint at a discount or change in price to this error. We contacted Bubba on Friday to see when pick up was and we kindly requested a later pick on Saturday due to the inconvenience caused on that Sunday and we were met with "we'll see what we can do." Paying an astronomical amount of money per day should result in a boat in perfect condition....not mold, leaves and pine needles in every cushion lifted up. I'm beyond appalled with the condition and service of the boat rental. If you're up in this area go with ANY OTHER RENTAL and you'll be better off.

Rented snowmobiles (sleds) from Toy Shop. The staff was excellent and informative. Our group was…read morenot first time riders, but if we were we would have felt comfortable and fully prepared by the staff with all safety and tail information. We rented full gear, (helmets, pants, jackets, boot covers) and they were all very clean and in great shape. The sleds were 2021 models and in tip top shape. Rental rates were very affordable and lowest in the area. I unfortunately had my car keys fall out of my pocket on the trail while driving to return the sleds. The staff went above and beyond trying to help the situation. They had two staff members take sleds and back track the 18-mile trail to our cabin in an attempt to locate my keys. Another staff drove our group back to our cabin to search. Truly grateful to the Toy Shop staff for all their help. Ultimately we couldn't find the keys and they drove me to Rhinelander to pick up a rental car. They let me leave my car in the parking lot for almost a week while I returned to Chicago to pick up my spare key set and fly back up to retrieve the car. Not ideal, but given the circumstance.. the Toy Shop really really helped me out. Thank you very much to the Toy Shop Staff. Got to know the owner a bit and it's a small family business, local to Eagle River. Great people with great service. Wouldn't rent from anyone else.
