Came here for a comedy show--Max Amini…read more Can't speak about parking because we took an Uber to the venue nor did we purchase food. The ushers were friendly and helped get us to our seats. The theater is clean, a good size though its architecture isn't particularly striking or memorable.

So we recently went to see "A Beautiful Noise" and sat in the orchestra Row 21 Seat 27 basically right of center and I could see the balcony speakers a few rows in front of me. The balance and loudness in those speakers are off and can be really loud and jarring. When we saw &Juliet and sat center second row from the stage, the sound was so much better. So perhaps it's just those speakers that are off when they do tests and it can be horrifying or great. Each side of the theater do have bathrooms but it does take a while to get to the right side of the theater. I still wish they had a center aisle as people were having to climb over chairs when they missed their row by one. We're now parking a couple blocks away for free after 6:30pm which is nice but it's definitely a gamble. Worse case we park at the nearby open lot across the street and pay a fair amount for a downtown city parking lot. Definitely cheaper than SF. Also if you check out seating before a show you want and there's plenty of seats available, go a a couple hours before the show and buy it for only $40 for rush seats. You can choose where to sit and all the seats left are $40. If a show has digital lottery, if you win, the seats are only $35 and I learned this year that the seats are basically the first few rows right in front of the stage. So well worth it if you win. Recently the ushers have been better about giving out the pamphlets which has been lovely. Overall, will I still come here to see shows? Yes cause it's much easier to get to than SF. Is it the best venue? Hit or miss depending on how the soundcheck goes (if they even do a soundcheck).

The Great Lawn in front of the main building ie the Montalvo Center allows picnics without reservations - just set up camp under a tree. There's a very well maintained Italian garden right next to the great lawn with varieties of succulents, a pagoda like structure and cedars. Also saw a wedding in progress while we were there and it is such a beautiful location for it! I will definitely visit again to explore the trails. Parking can be a little hard on weekends but you gotta just wait till a spot opens. If the event venue is booked out - that makes parking harder since they reserve a lot for guests. Free entry and free parking

All proceeds support Montalvo Arts Center with the aid of a battalion of volunteers, young and old. From the first hello by Gail when greeted at check-in to exiting venue, high touch experience. Thoughtfully coordinated and seamlessly orchestrated, including redirecting exiting auto traffic due to nearby auto accident. Meal was delightful including iced tea and coffee. Can upgrade to wine and bubbly for a fee. There were roaming models (Sunny - a Tita from the Philippines - was in our area) showcasing outfits from a local Los Gatos boutique. Raffle for a 10 person dinner onsite. Gift shop with crafts to buy. Have more time can explore grounds. Was encouraged to take home the floral centerpieces which had plastic floral bags to aid with transport. If don't have a generous friend to treat you to luncheon, can purchase tix for $75. I was excited to learn they host Sunday high teas in November before Thanksgiving. Will add to my Yelp! High Tea collection.

BEAUTIFUL VENUE!!!…read more The road going up and down is a little scary (for me), but everyone seems to be very careful. The venue is absolutely beautiful...outdoor theater with great views of the city below & beyond. And when the sun goes down.. it is even more magical. I had the empanadas, which were really good and tasty. The wine was also very good - we stuck with the Pinot Noir. Staff were a little high strung... they should smile more. Would I go back? Yes, for the concerts... but I will probably eat before going instead of eat there.

No complaints on the venue itself but there are some ushers with the rudest attitude in such a bad way. I have a hallway that is strictly music themed memorabilia and some of the best pieces are the set lists that I've collected over the decades. I frame and treasure them as memories that got me through good and bad times. Music is and always has been a huge part of my life. The other night, we were at a show and I went to get a set list for my collection. There was nobody around and the people working on stage were clearing the set as fast as possible as they only had a few minutes to clear the stage and set up for the next band. An usher, I think her name was Karen asked me if I took the set list. I said yes and she took it from me and PUT IT BACK ON THE STAGE!!! I think I'm still a bit shocked because it was so unnecessary. She told me, no,I can't have it..... I have to ask for it! At this point, I'm beginning to feel like Pavlov's dog, I turned around and faced the stage. I had to interrupt the guys trying to clear the stage and said (in my best Dicken's Tiny Tim voice, "please sir, may I have that piece of paper?". Ummm.... What the hell? She was smirking like she did such an amazing job with teaching me a lesson! I've been to other shows where people are begging for set lists. This was not the case. If there were other people before me, I'd make sure they got it over me! She also told me numerous times not to touch the stage. I did have to lean my upper torso in a few times maybe 20 degrees (again only my upper torso!) to interrupt the guys swapping the stage. I did not intentionally try to touch it, please take a look at the CCTV cameras. I am too old to be submissive to someone with a twisted issue with power control. I know I shouldn't have let this bother me but I slept on it and I just think it was so unnecessary. It was humiliating but I was given three set lists that night that I will add to my beloved collection. I complied with everything asked of me, I was not touching the stage on purpose and that was clear as day. She is unfit to interact with your guests. She was treating me in such a condescending manner which was bizarre and can ruin the experience of patrons to come! A big shout out to your security upon entering, your merch and bar staff. Unfortunately( it just takes one person to change your overall experience. She may think she did anything wrong but it's not a good experience moving forward. Also, please let people have a set list if they want it! It may just be a piece of paper to one, but a an amazing memory to another. Best
