get down to it, experience at this venue is inconvenient, tickets cost depending on where you need to be, parking isn't cheap much less free, food/alcohol are best done if it matters before / after or at a picnic table outside the gate, the road up (and, therefore, down) is tedious though not imho particularly dangerous unless you're under the influence, and management of the crowd and traffic especially after dark lacks organization. but having listened to a lot of music at places like msg, red rocks, the greek in LA, avalon, fillmores, cbgb... an evening of powerful music here is better but it isn't for an average saturday night's entertainment, save it for something special... it's worth twice the price for the right seats. in my case, as a maturing moshpit headbanger from decades ago, this required seats maybe 15 feet from the right side of the stage. i nailed these three months ahead for a total price of about $500 for two, premium parking included. worth it. this was the second time i saw the jblze show, the first being last year's in napa. the mountain winery was much superior owing to both the medieval setting and the power of the sound system which was enough to blow your head away. i had thoughtfully brought along a set of earplugs for my associate's tender ears, but passed on the offer of free ones at the entry gate. my hearing not to mention other functions has survived massive assaults of self-destruction in the past so ear protection seems a bit late to me. i was here to encourage ear damage, with every screech, boom, thud of music from the hammer of the gods this group is the best of all ersatz led zep groups, and more than a "tribute band" owing to Jimmy Sakurai, a japanese guy who spent 30 years perfecting the live performance of guitarist jimmy page. "mr jimmy" while much too civilized to be page incarnate is for sure the absolute best at what he does. the experience is essential if you have any interest in knowing why the original band is still considered the progenitor, the ne plus ultra as it were, of modern heavy metal/blues rock. i won't go on lest i descend into mindless fandom. let's leave it the same as my previous review, if you failed to see the original led zeppelin in msg or wherever, back when it mattered, and you're curious, book tickets next time - one hopes they'll do it here again. read more

In general, I like this venue. I've been going to this venue before the amphitheater seating, I was a patron back when there were only rows of benches and the only thing you could see was the person in front of you. No complaints on the venue itself but there are some ushers with the rudest attitude in such a bad way. I have a hallway that is strictly music themed memorabilia and some of the best pieces are the set lists that I've collected over the decades. I frame and treasure them as memories that got me through good and bad times. Music is and always has been a huge part of my life. The other night, we were at a show and I went to get a set list for my collection. There was nobody around and the people working on stage were clearing the set as fast as possible as they only had a few minutes to clear the stage and set up for the next band. An usher, I think her name was Karen asked me if I took the set list. I said yes and she took it from me and PUT IT BACK ON THE STAGE!!! I think I'm still a bit shocked because it was so unnecessary. She told me, no,I can't have it..... I have to ask for it! At this point, I'm beginning to feel like Pavlov's dog, I turned around and faced the stage. I had to interrupt the guys trying to clear the stage and said (in my best Dicken's Tiny Tim voice, "please sir, may I have that piece of paper?". Ummm.... What the hell? She was smirking like she did such an amazing job with teaching me a lesson! I've been to other shows where people are begging for set lists. This was not the case. If there were other people before me, I'd make sure they got it over me! She also told me numerous times not to touch the stage. I did have to lean my upper torso in a few times maybe 20 degrees (again only my upper torso!) to interrupt the guys swapping the stage. I did not intentionally try to touch it, please take a look at the CCTV cameras. I am too old to be submissive to someone with a twisted issue with power control. I know I shouldn't have let this bother me but I slept on it and I just think it was so unnecessary. It was humiliating but I was given three set lists that night that I will add to my beloved collection. I complied with everything asked of me, I was not touching the stage on purpose and that was clear as day. She is unfit to interact with your guests. She was treating me in such a condescending manner which was bizarre and can ruin the experience of patrons to come! A big shout out to your security upon entering, your merch and bar staff. Unfortunately( it just takes one person to change your overall experience. She may think she did anything wrong but it's not a good experience moving forward. Also, please let people have a set list if they want it! It may just be a piece of paper to one, but a an amazing memory to another. Best read more

Venue and views are breathtaking. Their arrival operations - a total S show. We waited in a massive line of cars for at least 40 minutes because someone drove a curve too quickly, dangled off a cliff, and needed a tow. No one came to tell us what was happening so folks got out of their cars to investigate - and they spread the news like Paul Revere lol Also, take all the crazy surcharge and parking money you make and install guardrails, Mountain Winery! Chateau La Cresta was hands down one of the most memorable dining experiences we've had in the Bay Area. Tucked into the hillside at The Mountain Winery, the restaurant occupies the historic 1901 chateau built by Paul Masson himself, you can feel the history in every stone archway and wine barrel accent. We were seated on the outdoor patio just as the sun started dipping behind the Santa Cruz Mountains, and the view alone was worth the drive-up Pierce Road. We had the 3-course meal that started with a delicious watermelon salad moved to mouth -watering salmon and finished with scrumptious lemon Tiramasu! Every dish was prepared with fresh, seasonal, local ingredients, and you could tell real care went into the pairing with their estate wines. Service was attentive, warm and well-paced without ever feeling rushed, even with the Gladys Knight concert full house that night. If you're heading to a show at the amphitheater, do yourself a favor and book dinner beforehand, it turns a concert into a full evening out of joy! I went to the Mountain Winery to watch an alt rock concert in October, which was an excellent time of the year to be outside for an outdoor concert when it's not super hot or cold. The venue is beautiful for stage performances, and it's not massive so almost every seat has a good view. I was about five rows away from the stage, and it was incredible to see my favorite band and singer up close! Food and beverages are expensive, but that's typical. I think a can of Coke was more than $5. Don't bother trying to get an Uber back at night from this venue. Ubers are allowed up to the venue for pick ups I think half an hour or an hour after the show ends. I also think Uber won't bother picking up people here because it's a single, narrow, winding road up the mountain, which causes a ton of traffic. So drive up to the venue, carpool with friends, purchase the shuttle ride in advance, or brave through that hell hole situation. read more

My family and I came here for the first time this past Friday for the Andy Grammar concert. I've grown up in the Bay Area and I honestly had no idea this venue existed until a few years ago. This venue is located off Highway 9 and the scenery is stunning. Especially on a cool summer evening. We purchased Box seats for the event and it came with a VIP parking pass. VIP parking is $50 which is steep. This came in handy post-concert and made for an easy exit out of the venue. Special shoutout to Phuong Nguyen who was directing traffic that day. He was extremely personable and offered to take a group photo for us. He whipped out a microfiber cloth out of nowhere to ensure a picture perfect memory. We had access to Club Masson which we were told includes free food and drink. It ended up just being light appetizers and a cash bar. I grabbed a bag of Ms. Vickie chips to snack on and didn't realize that they were expired until I was done with the bag. SMH. For as much as we paid for the Box seats, they should've at the very least ensured that none of the food served was expired. Concessions are pricey here. Club Masson was underwhelming so we ended up going back to the ground level to purchase food and drinks. The two ladies that worked behind the concessions stand could not have been more unpleasant. Minus 1 star for their terrible attitudes. None of them wear name tags otherwise I would have singled them both out. I really enjoy a smaller venue to see classic artists perform and was so excited to purchase tickets for Boz Scaggs for 10/28/25. We had tickets to see him in San Diego at Humphreys about two years ago, however the event was canceled due to Hurricane Hillary. Several months ago, when I saw he was going to be back at Humphries, and at the Mountain Winery in October 2025, I was really excited because while I have been to Humphreys, I had never been to Mountain Winery. I had seen photos of the venue over the years and was thrilled at the chance to attend a show. The evening before the event, I spent the better part of an hour reading Yelp reviews and learning of others' experiences. From this I came away with the food being mediocre and the drinks expensive. This was great information, and we adjusted our plan accordingly by eating and drinking elsewhere before the event, The drive up the mountain was pleasant, with a two-lane road with lovely homes flanking the roadway. I had purchased parking with our tickets, which made things very easy and convenient. We arrived just shortly before the opening performer, so we did not walk around the venue too much, and with sundown at 6:15, we did get to enjoy some night views of the Silicon Valley. A common theme amongst reviewers and folks we talked to before the show was that there isn't a bad seat in the house, and it is a favorite venue of many, holding a little less than 3,000 people, which is perfect. I was concerned about cool weather, so I took the advice of others and layered with a long sleeve shirt and a wind breaker, which was perfect. It was a lovely evening, no wind, so we were not impacted by the weather. As far as the performance goes, this was my first time seeing Boz Scaggs. He is in his early 80s and was OUTSTANDING. He sounds just as good as he did in the 70s and 80s and put on a wonderful performance. A true artist whose voice has stood firm on the test of time. Super impressive with a very talented bandmates, and the opening act by Jeff LeBlanc. The sound, lighting, and set list was on target, and he played for two solid hours with no break. I truly hope I can see Boz perform again in the coming years. We sat in section 22, with great views of the stage and uninterrupted sound. In leaving the venue, it wasn't nearly as disastrous as others have reported. We parked in VIP, and other than having to wait for first responders to make their way up the hill (not sure what happened) we were making our way down the hill with no issues. I look forward to the 2026 Concert Series and returning to Mountain Winery! read more

Attended an event here on behalf of my school and it was absolutely incredible. From picturesque views to beautiful structures and an amazing amphitheater --this place took my words away. Not only are you dropped into the most magical spot, but there's also wine and music....doesn't get much better than that. I was made very uncomfortable by the employee who helped us pick out wine. He made comments about owning his own home close by and how he could always be naked and kept mentioning being nude. I didn't even know what to say or how to react, as I was with my family. I was at the counter by myself and waiting for my wine to be poured by him. It ruined the whole experience. Also over heard him complain about drunk people his exact words after speaking to someone over the phone, seemed very unprofessional to say when customers are right next to him, made me wonder what he would say about us. I didn't feel comfortable dealing with him anymore and sent my husband after that. Overall ruined what should have been a great 4th of July. Didn't feel comfortable mentioning to anyone as there was only two employees him being one of them. Had the chance to attend 2 concerts here about a week apart this month, and they did not disappoint! The last time I was here was 2017 so it had been a minute! If you're not prepared ahead of time, the first thing that might surprise you is that parking is $25 when you arrive. Thankfully I'd pre-purchased online and my hubby and I arrived early so parking was easy. Once we went through security and the entrance, where you're already delightfully smacked in the face with gorgeous views of the winery, the valley and the super cool music venue, we were also greeted left and right by the friendliest, nicest employees and staff ever! Everyone seemed so happy to be working there, it truly was a breath of fresh air! We even had some fun conversations with a couple of the seat ushers too! A big thank you to everyone that was working the One Republic and Common Kings shows (10/3/24 & 10/12/24)! We heard/read that food and drinks here are extra pricey, and if you take a peek at the drink menu photo I added to this review, that'll give you an idea of just how pricey things really are. No outside food is allowed in of course. Glad to see that there were a few vegan options onsite, but we ate before arriving so we didn't try any of their f&b. Leaving a show here can be very tricky since there's just 1 narrow & very windy road in & out of this place, so either leave a little early or practice immense patience lol! Overall, we had an awesome time at both shows and would definitely recommend Mountain Winery for concerts! Great acoustics too and just a really cool, intimate live music experience! Best Concert Venue!!! This review is solely about the concert venue at Mountain Winery. I have not tried their wine so cannot speak on that. I have been to several concerts here and it doesn't get old. It's magical coming here in the evenings when the sun is setting and the music starts playing. My only issue with this place is the parking and concert drink prices are very expensive. Parking is simple and easy, checking in is a breeze, and everywhere you look there are beautiful views of the Bay Area. Everyone who works there is helpful during concert nights. The place was packed, but with premium tickets was able to park near the entrance. You can eat or drink here before the event begins. The building architecture and lights delivered a romantic vibe. Air Supply put on an amazing concert. The sound quality and the outdoor scenic view made a great atmosphere. It's a beautiful place with great views. We went for Trevor Noah's show. The ride is a windy narrow road up the hill. Last time it took us 30 mins with traffic inching forward as everyone came in just at the show time. So we went early this time. And also to eat something before the show. We had to buy separate parking tickets. The staff is very friendly. And we learnt you cannot take big bags unless it is clear. The food and drink service was quick. Nothing gourmet, slightly expensive. The seating has good views to the stage even though we were way back. However it was cold . Do carry warm clothing , gloves, caps and socks as it can get quite windy after 8PM. Last time we had a better experience as the weather was warmer. I have so many amazing memories here, and what ambience! It will always be a favorite place to see a concert. The venue and views are gorgeous, and it is so great to see my favorite artists up close. Many venues feel so clautrophobic, crowded, and so forth, but I have been to approx. 20 concerts/shows at Mountain Winery, and it is has always been a good experience. The wine is ONLY Mountain Winery, and the drinks are expensive! Coming to the Mountain Winery is one of the worst experiences I have ever had. I got tickets for John Mullaney and a pre-show dinner at the Chateau La Cresta. Let's start with the fact that all their restaurant seating was outdoors, with no space heaters of any kind, even though it was extremely cold and there was a very strong wind. The food was incredibly mediocre for the price, especially considering that it was barely lukewarm when it was served. Given that the frigid wind would do an extremely efficient job of chilling the food within minutes, you'd think they'd make some effort to serve it hot. I got butternut squash soup that had clearly been sitting out, as it had formed a skin on the top. We ordered wine pairings with our dinner but the wine never managed to come with the food. They also tried to bring us our desserts before our entrées. There was a very high staff-to-customer ratio, so it was really quite shocking that the service managed to be so poor and so slow. And, hailing from a different part of California wine country, let me add the wine was not good. The amphitheatre where the performance was held was quite pretty. Still freezing, but pretty. By far the worst part of this experience, however, is that if you have the inconceivable temerity to take a rideshare to an event here, you aren't allowed to leave. They refuse to let any cars enter the winery to pick anyone up before entirely clearing out the parking lot. Um....What?? What place, serving alcohol no less, penalizes you for not driving there by trapping you there until everyone else has left? The show ended an hour ago. I am still sitting here watching the most incompetently managed flow of traffic I have ever seen. I think they hire teenagers to staff the parking lot. They periodically scream at one another. There is no water available as people are made to wait here with no end in sight. We might never get home. I suggest avoiding this place at all costs. But if you do come here, know these things: Bring your belongings in a clear bag Bring a subzero-rated jacket and a blanket Eat food in Saratoga proper And if you want to be able to actually check out of the hotel california, drive yourself, and don't bother drinking. read more

This mountainside Saratoga venue got me absolutely speechless! The Mountain Winery is having a summer concert series until the end of October. Lineup can be found on their website. Came here on a Tuesday night (7/23) to see Ben Platt. General parking was $25 cash or card. Upon entering the venue, you'll see a harvest of grapes with a beautiful aerial view of the city. Security check and will call lines weren't too long of a wait. Since my boyfriend and I came here immediately after work, we shared a Margherita pizza which was perfect for two. The pizza was fresh, cheesy, and had a perfect chewy crust. Their speciality cocktail, estate Chardonnay, and estate Pinot noir were all really good drinks to sip on during the show. Ben Platt was amazing!! The show was entertaining and lively from start to finish. Customer service was top-notch and the workers were all super friendly. The drive up wasn't too difficult as well. The venue while watching a show is nice. That gets 5 of 5 stars. Other aspects like the bus ride are not so nice. The Mountain Winery Shuttle bus that costs $45 a person gets 1 of 5 stars. The driver from Urban Worldwide was 29 minutes late and stopped less than a second at Saratoga inn: He did not invite us on! We had prepaid! We literally ran after him. (We then paid for an Uber up.) He reluctantly gave us a ride down the hill after we talked to him at the top telling him, "don't leave us stranded again. We paid $100 between the two of us." He had the nerve to say, "You have 15 minutes to get on this shuttle after." Rude. Guess what? The ticket that costs $50 with fees said, "20 minutes." There was no refund after abandonment at the Inn. It was bizarre because when he was at the inn we just watched him barely stop and speed off. We watched this in horror, humiliation and disbelief. The driver blatantly lied saying he was there way earlier than the actual time and that he waited. I don't consider less than one second a wait. This is all on video at the hotel. Friggin' luxury limo? Nope. I said, this is a small bus. Tickets are expensive! Don't you have the list of names? The driver also said, "I don't have a list of names!" We bought two $45 tickets and he can't look up who bought tickets? It's a very short ride between the Inn and the venue. For $50 each I expect decent service. Parking gets one star: Many women get out of their cars with standard purses and walk steep hills and far to the entrance. I have witnessed on many occasions that no parking attendants ever told them to leave the non clear purse in the car. Attendants should say something so the people don't have to walk 20 minutes to the gate, 20 minutes back to the car and 20 minutes to the gate. That's an hour. My friends said that they saw the purse measurements on the website but not the word "clear." They walked far and steeply back and forth due to no parking attendant warning them. That's like an hour! Yikes Parking is pricey and sometimes it's hard to park at an angle. There are specialty taxi services that will pick you up after. Only hire someone who has experience doing pick up after. The newbie rideshare drivers may get held at the bottom for 45 minutes and give up trying to get you. read more

As for the present, it's got character and serene mountain scenery with wines to enjoy... it's as good as it gets. Incredible venue! My wife and I have seen many live shows all over Northern California over the past 30+ years. This place is by FAR the best setting and experience we've had. We had a 2.5 hour drive each way and felt it was definitely worth it. Price was expensive but everything is. We have specific needs for seating and accessibility and their staff was above and beyond accommodating. Starting with spot on Communication about a month prior via email to going out of their way at every turn to make sure our needs were being met the entire time at the show. My group scored $25 general admission tickets to see All-4-One and 98 Degrees here. It was my first time at this venue. We left SF at 5:30pm and got to the parking lot by 7pm. There is no cell reception up the windy road but after you pass the gate to the venue it comes back. Next time I'm going to need to take something for motion sickness. There are 2 roads that lead up to the venue. There was no traffic up the road until we passed the gate. There is 2 lines to the parking lot and you can be in either one. They take cash and credit cards for parking. It's $25 if you have only 2 passengers and $20 if you have more. It was a full moon that night and the view was gorgeous. Bathrooms were big and clean. My friends ordered nacho fries and it was pretty good. The cocktails were strong. The audio is great. The general admission seating is just a long wooden bench. Luckily I brought a blanket to sit on as a cushion. A few of us bumped ours knees a couple of times while dancing though so watch out. Leaving the venue sucked but was expected. read more

This is the consummate date venue. We went to the Santa Cruz wine tasting event on this spectacular Sunday. The only downside is the wine tasting was held indoors (maybe because of the weather?). It was a little dark and musty. So if you go to the wine tasting event keep that in mind. It's a shame not to use the breathtaking grounds for the actual wine tasting. This place is hostile to solo visitors. I bought one of their show and dinner packages, and scheduled my meal two hours before the show. And I planned to read while I dined, and again later while I waited for the show and during intermission. I have an extensive library of e-books on a tablet. The venue's management doesn't allow guests to enter the grounds with a tablet. I had to choose: Lose two hours of productive time reading, or waste my expensive pre-paid dinner reservation. I don't drink alcohol, I abhor making shallow conversation with strangers, and I value my time more than money. The choice was clear: With no other options to fill my time, I cancelled the dinner, begged for a refund, and read in my car until the concert started. If I could have left early, I would have sold my show ticket, too. Their tablet policy is a bad one. I'm not going back, unless they change it, and I discourage anyone else who's planning to visit on their own from making the trip. Two hours of lost time is a high price to pay when the valley offers so many other entertainment options that are friendly to single patrons. read more

Gorgeous venue, an amazing selection of artists in a fairly intimate setting, great food at the Winery Deck, with very courteous and helpful staff and security personnel. Free jitney service from the parking lot to the amphitheater, and taking Uber to and from the venue can be simple if you just follow the instructions that staff members give you. What a great and intimate feeling venue! We did not partake of any of the food related offerings as they seemed a bit too pricey IMHO. However, you cannot overlook the lively crowd, great acoustics, and top acts that perform here. I do not think there is a bad seat anywhere, even if you are in the bleachers. read more

Puppies and Pinot was kinda a joke especially charging people to check out the 10 dogs. I think anyone who paid to see the dogs should get a refund and an apology. But the wine tasting was a blast guy working the bar was good entertainment and made up for the puppy part of the evening. read more
