I did not take a good roll call for restaurants, so when it came time for dinner, we had to essentially start from scratch. There were fast food restaurants. There were pubs. But we had tired of the latter, and not willing to stoop to the former, so we found ourselves searching a little bit. Finally we found ourselves at Ting Sing, which would be our second Asian excursion in a week (the other being a Thai restaurant in Dublin, which didn't go so well). Happy to say that this choice was considerably more productive. Yes, it was a bit humid, and the restaurant was obviously pressed to make its patrons (and employees) comfortable. And there was a group of women who didn't seem to realize that yes, they were in a restaurant, and not everybody appreciates it when they block aisles so that they can gossip. But the food was damn delicious - I don't care if it's 'authentic' or not (side note: That has to be the lamest comment made on Yelp - or elsewhere - as long as it's good, I really don't care if it qualifies as authentic). I ordered red chicken curry, which filled me belly as well as I could've wanted, and washed it down with a Wicklow Wolf, yet another offering I need to look up in the states. So, by and large, Tung Sing is a pretty decent option in Ireland's second largest city.

We ordered inside and waited only 10 or so minutes for the order. With COVID there is no inside seating, so we took it away with us. But they must get many call in orders as the owner ran out to a car at the curb to deliver a bag. We ordered 2 different samplers-the meat grill and the starter sampler. It was superb!! The meat samosa and the veggie samosa were yummy. The tandoori meats were brilliantly seasoned. The sausage was so good and I don't even know what it was. You have to give them a try. The prices are super reasonable, and they feature some lunch specials that sound perfect for an afternoon.

We were the only customers when we arrived and for the ~35 minutes we were there, so it wasn't like they were busy. Aside from the counter area, there is another adjacent room with a couch and table seating. That was cute! Overall, the cost and portion sizes were good, but it was just okay in terms of flavor. Cleanliness definitely needs to be improved.

I had heard of Miyazaki because their sister restaurant, Ichigo Ichie, has a Michelin star. While Ichigo is expensive and difficult to grab a table at, Miyazaki is more affordable and offers both takeaway and dining in their small seating area. I've also heard that you can also take the food to go and eat it at O'Sho, the pub across the street, as the two spots have a partnership. I asked for the staff members' recommendation and she said the Hake Don was her favorite. I took her suggestion and enjoyed the fried whitefish over white rice with cucumber, green onions, sesame seeds, and a delicious sauce. I was lucky enough to grab a stool and eat there but the place quickly filled up as the night continued. I would definitely recommend adding this place to your list when visiting Cork. I was impressed to find such amazing Japanese food place (in Ireland of all places???) and would totally return if I'm back in the area.
