Had loaded hashbrown as a side which also cane spiced up with jalapeños as well as cheese & onions. Full bar and extensive menu with something for everyone. We make a point to visit Rockbridge every time we are in the area. It's my favorite summer spot. We made reservations for the restaurant, but got drinks at the barn first on the river. In the restaurant I had the Cold Smoked Trout dip to start and the Trout Almandine for my entrée. Both were outstanding. This used to be our favorite place for a Sunday lunch. We've been eating there approximately 15 years off and on. We went again this last Sunday 6/7/2020 for lunch. I ordered the Chicken Strip Platter. You receive four chicken strips, one side, and a salad with dressing. The prices have jumped considerably since Covid-19 started. The Chicken Strip Platter is now $17.50. I "upgraded" my side to onion rings for another $2.00 and with the iced tea, my part of the bill came to over $21.00. I am not against higher prices, per se, but I do expect the quality of the food to be fairly close to the prices. Higher prices should equal higher quality of food. When they make onion rings at Rockbridge, they use the very outer layers of the onion. That means each piece of the onion is very thin and very tough. Very hard to chew that tough onion. I am sure "Normal" restaurants, would do the same as you do at home and throw away the very outer layers of the onion instead of serving them to guests. My wife ordered Chicken Livers with Green Beans as her side. Rockbridge serves their Green Beans by opening a can of green beans from the grocery store, heating them up and serving them to customers. No spices of any type, no added anything. Just heat and serve. Our Sunday lunch bill ended up well over $40 for what I call, very poor quality food. Needless to say, we will no longer be looking forward to going to Rockbridge for a lunch. et monuit read more

Great service, lousy food. This restaurant used to have the best trout. Today the trout had an unpleasant taste to it, kind of like the way river water smells. I don't know if it wasn't fresh or wasn't prepared properly. Except for the river-water taste, the trout had very little flavor. The baked potato was okay. The salad was good. The bread was good. The server and the lady at the front desk were both very helpful and professional. This will be my last trip there. :-( read more

This is about the restaurant, fishing is fun. The food isn't bad- a bit over priced in my opinion, but the Desserts are very so-so. I have given it two visits, the first time I was disappointed but figured it was just what I ordered. The second time our waitress Sammy, was listing off the stuff on the tray and she said boysenberry pie was a option. I asked her for that À la mode and she looked like a deer in the headlights. She said I don't know what that is. Okay, everyone has to learn sometime what certain things are so that didn't really bother me. But then when I was served, it wasn't boysenberry, it was blueberry and it was COLD just taken out of the fridge- even had the fridge taste to it with a scoop on ice cream on the side. I wanted to send it back but the guy in my group who was paying for the dinner begged me not to because he wanted her number. Whatever, he was willing to waste his money. I didn't eat it. It was nasty. So if you go, and IF you order dessert, make SURE your waitress knows how to serve desserts properly and it is the correct item. read more

The quality of food here has gone way down and it was mediocre to begin with and extremely overpriced. The one star rating is for restaurant manager specifically and the cook, not bakers, waitstaff or rooms (which I have seen multiple times when my relatives stayed here). I ordered the breakfast "wraps". The tortillas were disgusting, extremely hard and tough. Obviously very stale like had been in fridge 2 mos. and exposed on the edges to open air. The cook claimed that the toughness was from toasting it. Tortillas do not get hard and tough (I mean hard, not crunchy) from toasting. Super dry. Tasteless filling, tiny portions. "Hash browns" were obviously frozen, no seasoning on them. $9 minus tax and tip for a tiny gross meal. The only good part was the sausage, all 2 tsp. of it in the "wraps". Restaurant mgr. would not comp my $9 order, took off 10%, then 25% when I insisted. I have not had this degree of bad service in years anywhere. And I never make complaints in a restaurant till today. My complaint was made out to be my inability to believe that a super-stale tortilla was "toasted". Gaslighting at its finest. Additionally, my whole family was there and it took 30 minutes to get our meal and it arrived at room temp, not hot. The trout and meats are good, wait staff good (this was no fault of our waitress who was caught in the middle with an inept manager), nice ($$$$) accommodations, baked goods like bread and desserts are homemade and consistently high quality. As another reviewer mentioned, the side vegs are usually out of a can, no seasoning. For the money you get much higher quality meal at a Subway and their tortillas are not stale. You are paying for ambiance, which is lovely. I have been a customer over 20 years and recommended many people to come here, which I will no longer do due to my treatment today. I have had mediocre food here before and never complained but to be gaslit by telling me I don't know a rock hard stale tortilla when I eat one, well, I guess that's the hill I'll take my last stand on. This could have been fixed by comping a $9 meal and an apology which I never got from anyone, not even "sorry it wasn't to your satisfaction". read more

we stopped in for a visit to the historic Rockbridge Mill and found a treasure. we will be making reservations the next time we travel to the area. the staff was very friendly and very informed. the buildings we went through were spotless. the whole setting is as good as it gets. we can't wit to return to this area and spend more time hanging out in this great place. we had a late afternoon lunch at the restaurant and it was fabulous, as was our server Whitney. WOW, I have not been back to Rainbow Trout & Game Ranch located in the picturesque Ozark Mountains in about ten years but the Amyx family have made some wonderful improvements! Not only do they have trout fishing the way it was meant to be (no starting horns standing shoulder to shoulder with a stranger), but they have added horseback riding, a gun club, and hunting. Something for everyone. They have a variety of lodging from newly renovated suites with television, mainframe, microwave and hairdryers to houses and brand-new condos that can sleep up to 12 people. Rockbridge has a great restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You cannot beat the fresh trout, fixed almost anyway you can imagine. Do not pass up the fresh baked bread, homemade mac & cheese, cobblers and pies as you sit in by the window watching the hummingbirds. After dinner, go to the rustic Grist Mill Club by the creek for a beverage of your choice as the sun sets on the fisherman below. The Amyx family and staff are welcoming, friendly and make everyone feel at home. Multiple generations return year after year to this peaceful and serene place in God's country. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city and find your way to Rockbridge, MO. It is well worth the trip. read more

This is a review of the restaurant only. It is in a very picturesque area and it used to be the 'go to' place to take visitors for dinner. We had eaten there many, many times over the years as there are so few decent restaurants in the Ozarks. While I thought the menu was badly in need of updating, the food was good. This is no longer the case. They changed the menu, but, unfortunately it hasn't changed for the better. This Fall my husband and I took visitors there for dinner and I was crushingly disappointed in the changes. Shockingly, they serve no fresh vegetables with their dinners and have cut the number of items included in the dinner and cut the choices in side dishes, while maintaining the price levels which, for the area, are on the higher end. The quality of the food doesn't match the menu price. They should at least offer fresh, seasonal vegetables with their dinners, not canned green beans and canned corn. We have found two restaurants in the Ozark area with prices comparable or even lower than Rockbridge Trout Farm that serve fresh vegetables and have excellent menu choices, one being a fishing resort in Arkansas just over the border with Missouri. It is a longer drive to these places but well worth the drive to get food that is fresh, delicious and worth the price. We will not be going back to Rockbridge and it is a shame because it has so much potential and was closer to us. I gave the food only two stars because of lack of freshness and variety in side dishes and because the lack of quality doesn't match the price point. The restaurant has good ambience because of its location and it is fun to watch the fishing at the old mill, but don't expect anything spectacular for dinner. read more

I hate to complain but our visit to the restaurant was such a big disappointment. First the service was mostly nonexistent as the first drinks came then no more till lunch was over. Burger was burnt to charcoal (ordered med) the fried chicken was void of flavor and presentation. But that is not the worst of it. The chicken has several long hairs in it. The waitress looked at the plate and said "sorry" that was it. They did not care. Upon leaving after what seemed hours. We could see the kitchen and found out where the hair came from.... We were so excited to take our grandkids here today . What a let down . Long long wait for food even after I requested the kids food be brought out first . My husband ordered a burger medium it was very done and crispy on the edges . Never got water refilled . And hair in my food which was less than I anticipated . The lemonade was great as was the Mac n cheese at least . The setting is nice . Very overpriced for the quality of food . We never mind paying for good food but this was less than par .
