This is a great park for dog walking, sports activities and family hangouts. It is a vast park divided into two sections. One area is dedicated to wooded trails and flying disc activities, while the other features sports courts and extended trails. Walking along the snow-covered trails offered a unique, serene experience, with the peacefulness of the setting enhanced by sunlight gently filtering through the woods. We always have a great time riding here! This spot is great for all levels! The staff keep this park beautiful! There is a lot of parking and a cool pump track/skills park. I feel safe here and there is adequate lighting around the fields. read more

Really nice yet small regional/county park. It's attached to both Rockburn Elementary School on one end and Patapsco State Park at the other end. It has a lot of wide-open fields as well as numerous sport-specific facilities including: - baseball fields of all sizes, from pre-K (~60 foot baselines or smaller(?) up to full-size (90 foot baselines; our son used to play on these) - soccer fields - multi-use turf fields (soccer, football, lacrosse, etc.) - playgrounds - tennis courts - basketball courts - outdoor volleyball court - lots of picnic tables spread throughout - and, what most people from the area seem to come for: its disc golf course Many of these the local park service has spent this year renovating so most are in really nice condition. There are also miles of hiking trails throughout the park, ranging from paved in the open areas to small dirt/mud trails through the woods. If you're looking for hard-core outdoors hiking in the wilderness then Rockburn is not for you. But for a 1-2 hour local hike Rockburn is really nice and tends to be a bit less busy than other more-well-known parks in the area (like Patapsco). And it's free to enter. read more

Absolutely amazing trails. I did a ten mile endurance out here. The trails are typical of a hiking trail. They are varied in difficulty and all of the routes are marked. They also have a disk golf course. I know nothing about it but it appears to be large. Much like a regular golf course. Plenty of nature to observe. Most of the trails are dirt very little paved or improved. However even the dirt trails are solid trails. Great place to run, hike, disk golf or spend time with family while out on a walk. read more

I can't believe I had never been here before until yesterday! I used to live maybe 5 minutes away from here, but always went to the larger parks. Well, this here is a hidden treasure. It's tucked next to an elementary school, and has remnants of the past time. Old structures left over from the 1800s scatter the fields and forest here. There's a beautiful creek where you can explore and splash through, and find some great rocks perfect for painting. They have disc golf all throughout, and it's very well shaded. It has a much more peaceful and leisurely feel then a lot of the other local parks that are filled to the brim with fitness enthusiasts (In Howard County, everyone is either a runner or a biker). People here were just strolling, exploring the creek, or playing disc golf. Overall, this is a community treasure. read more

This is a nice park to visit and see some historic buildings that go back to the 1700s. There are alot of different trails to go on and it seems to have a lot of disc golf stations. Glad we found this park so close to our new home. The dogs seem to like it too read more

This place is great. I pulled up with a few friends with low expectations but I was pleasantly surprised. The pump track was very well maintained and clean. Everyone wore a mask. And it was a great bike park in general. 10/10 would go again. Note: it gets packed quickly so go early in the morning. read more

Went on a little ten minute walk and in that time someone smashed my car window and my sister's car window and stole our purses, which were super hidden, so someone must have cased us and watched us hide our things. They got nothing of value but it will cost us hundreds to fix the damages and ruined our labor day weekend. I hope they feel good about themselves. I will never come back to this park. I will say the park ranger was VERY nice and helpful, and she even called the facilities people to come out with a vacuum so we could clean up the glass. That's why 2 stars. If you go to this park leave NOTHING in your car, maybe open up all your compartments and leave your doors unlocked and your windows open. That's what the cop basically told us when he took our statements. read more

Check out the website for a full list of offerings of this park. I'm writing this review based soley on the parts of the park I've enjoyed, which are the ball fields and hiking/biking trails. This park is plenty large and has very modern, well kept ball fields. My nephew said he felt like a star playing in an NFL game when he played here under the lights (he was 12 playing in the league championship). The park has quite a few ball courts and fields--I've never had a problem finding an empty field or court to toss the ball around on. The park is also very well shaded, making it great to enjoy this time of year when the weather is nice. Lately I've been visiting this park for the trails. There are 2 trails that are great for beginner mountain biking. The trails aren't too technical and go just fast enough for a beginner getting their wind and balance. There are twists and turns and side paths to take keep the ride varied. I highly recommend these trails for folks just starting out. Last but not least, this park is a good place to park to ride a trail over to Patapsco Park for more advanced mountain biking and hiking. We don't have the nerve to try that park yet, but I'm sure whenever we do, we'll use Rockburn Branch Park as our entry point. read more

The playground has three picnic tables, four swings (two of which are the bucket styles for younger kids), and rubberized flooring underneath the main playground structure. There's a basketball court nearby as well as a port-o-potty, a pavilion for rentals, and a volleyball court. This park is also home to a really beautiful disc golfing course, but it's confusing and hard to follow the first couple times you go. I would recommend looking at their website for a good map before heading out. We've even seen a disc vendor out there on certain Saturdays in the summer. Relatively newer to Rockburn Branch Park are the Pump Track and skills parks maintained by the local mountain biking community. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Great, well-kept park near Patapsco Valley State Park! Some bikers told me you can easily get to the state park from this local park, so that's a definite plus on the weekends if you can't find parking easily. The trails here are fun for not only biking, but running too! Up at the top of the hill there looking like a pretty sweet Skills Park for some extreme bikers (that wouldn't be me, but it looked cool!). There's at least 3 baseball fields and a nice concession stand area with clean bathrooms. Definitely a nice place to stop by for some activities! read more

We've been looking at potential new neighborhoods lately, and while plotting out potential running routes stumbled across this gem of a green space. Okay, green space doesn't begin to describe rockburn. The first great thing is the ample free parking, well marked. Second is the historical nature of the place. I didn't look into it much, but a historical school (across from a VERY modern one) is just down the hill from a big manor house. Third is the park itself! A paved trail gets you some distance down a hill to the start of a disc golf course. down the other side of the hill you can find tennis courts, foot ball field, baseball fields, fields, soccer fields, and a sand volleyball court. Veering off, we found a large network of single track trails through the woods that were not overly hilly. At one point we ran by an entire dirt "skill park" for Mountain/BMX biking. We honestly cut our ventures out onto the trail a bit short just out of fear of getting lost. We did an easy 4 miles that day, but I think with some knowledge of the park pushing 6-8 would be possible. A few runable neighborhoods are nearby too for a varied longer run. As an added bonus, we found a couple of port-o-potties around the park - always a nice perk. read more

This is a beautiful park, but with one exception, the people who work here are really unpleasant. They act like the citizens of Howard county are tramping through their living space. Best avoided. read more

Grab some kids, bikes and helmets and go ride the fun, free bike trails! We went on a summer Monday and practically had it to ourselves. Four trails will challenge just about any rider, and the short loops make for a great learning environment. Plenty of parking makes getting in and out very easy. read more

Excellent park. We've been hiking on the trails and they are easy to navigate, beginner level, and mostly shaded. Just watch out for mountain bikers! You can also connect to Patapsco trails to extend your hiking a little further. They also have tennis courts, ball fields, and lots of basketball courts. And don't forget Frisbee golf! Hidden behind the basketball courts is a nice playground. There is a smaller toddler playground and then a bigger kid playground. They are both in great shape. The only disappointment for the playground is that the swings were removed when we visited. Otherwise the park has always been in great shape and well maintained. read more

Nice big youth athletic park! Several different entrances to different parts of the park is a little confusing at first. Great ball fields, very clean restrooms, nice snack bar with shaded semi covered tables and eating area. read more

I'm here every other weekend. Check out the playground, mountain biking skills park and hiking trails. A true gem in Howard County.

We are here regularly to watch our granddaughter play softball. Parking is ALWAYS a problem on weekends. Area around Field 7 and 8 is dangerous for people and vehicles when kids over the age of 10 play. read more

This park is a great place to take children to burn off energy. The park however is very sunny because of the playground placement not many trees provide shade. Great playground during fall and spring, not great for hot summer days. Tons of parking and a disc golf field. read more
