Unlike many other parks Lake Waterford typically has a ton of county park employees on-site. It really shows because they are usually out and about maintaining the park which is always litter free and beautifully landscaped. There are numerous trails and water views throughout the woods. Overall, I highly recommend this park for your dogs, kids or just your human self!

People love to watch the landings, and there are lots of them to view. It's not an official picnic space, but on a sunny day you'll see couples or families sitting on blankets eating their packed lunches. We came to park and get our bikes onto the BWI Bike Trail. The trail passes right by here, so it's a good starting point. We did see a Snowball and Ice Cream truck parked there on a Saturday afternoon, but there is no snack bar or rest room (at least I didn't see it). What can be frustrating is the parking. It is a small lot and gets packed in the afternoon, so you might have to circle around awhile waiting for a car to back out of a space. Other than that, it's worth a visit!

This is also a great place to park to run, walk, or ride the BWI Airport Loop Trail or the B&A trail. Which is my reason for coming here. If you're a family with kids, you can bring them here to watch the planes, set up a picnic on the grass, and take them to the playground. Sometimes, when I'm here on the weekend, there will be a man selling snow cones. I've never had a problem finding someplace to park. On the weekends it does get pretty packed, though, and I assume at some point the parking lot may be full. I've also noticed there are 2 port a potties, but I've never had to use them. I usually use the bathroom on the B&A trail closer to Severna Park. It's nice out here. Check it out!

Yet another example of a nice hidden oasis in the city. This park was endowed by a citizen on his…read morepassing and is therefore open to the public all year round. There is a huge covered pavilion. It doesn't have its own picnic tables but it does have a lot of space. There is a full jungle gym with two slides and climbing area, a swing set (with toddler and big kid swings), and a separate climbing area. All of these areas have the recycled tire rubber mulch. The whole park area is large and fully-fenced. Unfortunately there is only rubber mulch in the playground equipment areas and the rest is cement, causing a few boo boos with running toddlers. Our only other issue with this park is that there is a baby pool that is no longer filled with water. While it can be fun to kick a ball around inside, it can also be a fall hazard with the littles. Overall though it's a really nice park with good security and not too close to any busy streets. Definitely worth stopping by to make new friends.

It is not a playground where you can park and eat a lunch and let your child play at their leisure. Elvaton Recreation Association runs youth sports programs out of the park and is a very community focused club. Our party hostess (when I asked) said we could take the extra opened paper goods. They were packed in my personal box unwrapped. The staff went into our personal box & removed the items. When asked, the woman in charge stated we were not able to take them as it was their property. It appears that they will be reusing these Winnie the Pooh paper items. We spent approximately $700, tipped our party hostess to be treated like thieves by going through our personal items to "see" what we took.

After building spaceships we were taken to the planetarium so the kids could travel to space. The kids loved seeing the different stars and planets. I enjoyed the show myself as well. It's been quite some time since I've been to a planetarium. After the initial show the kids ate pizza and cake and then returned to the planetarium. The second time in the planetarium they watched a movie about the stars and evolution. It looks like there's so much to see and do here, I'll definitely have to return to experience some of the other things they have to offer. However, I can definitely recommend having a kids party here. I would say ideally for someone in kindergarten and older.

We frequent the outdoor areas with our family. They have short easy hikes that cross a little creek, excellent for kids. There is a playground with a slide, hammocks, musical instruments, building blocks, and a mud kitchen. They put on outdoor plays and they have a kids garden area where they host events and classes. We prefer the outside to the inside. The inside has a discovery play room for kids with some creatures, toys, and dress ups. There are a couple exhibits and animals to view inside as well. We attended a 3 year old birthday party here and it was a hit. They have different themes and activities. This one had a play and the kids got to meet and touch a turtle.
