You can rent a canoe or kayak then paddle over the ship wrecks!! how amazing is that? We loved the fact that this hotel/resort was located near the light house and that it was kind of quiet and private from the rest of Tobermory. We enjoyed watching boats coming and going and the sunset. Only down fall, small bathroom. If you are super tall.. just duck :) But its all good.

A lot of attention has been put in every area of the resort: from the landscape to the buildings, from the restaurants to the bars, from all the different seating areas to all the trails, from the cabins to the marina and its docks. There are lots of activities to be done and keep you entertained: pool, sauna, indoor games, outdoor games, complimentary kayaks and canoes, bicycles, sailing classes, live music every night, etc. It is by far one of the most beautiful resorts we ever stayed, feeling warm and welcoming, upscale but not stuffy. NOTE: this review is for the main restaurant It is a large and beautiful restaurant, with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat outside with view to the water. The food menu is small but with interesting options. The wine menu has good wine choices yet only few by by the glass. Every dish we had was delicious and well prepared. The beef tenderloin carpaccio was done correctly, tender and flavorful. The crab cakes were made with King crab so they have that sweetness of the King crab, and they were tasty and juicy. The Great Lakes Pine smoked trout was outstanding. The gnocchi was one of the best we ever had: very tender and the combination of flavors finished the dish in a manner that makes it different to the more common creamy or tomato sauces. NOTE: this review is for Carrousel bar (the round bar) and their pub food menu We are staying at Killarney Mountain Lodge and Marina. We came to this bar to listen to live music and have pub food for dinner. They have live music every night and Duncan Cameron is an amazing multi instrument musician, very talented. What we ordered from their food menu was very good. The signature house salad with trout was outstanding. The chicken wings were tasty, juicy and not greasy. NOTE: the coffee shop on the premises sells fresh baked goods that they make every day at the main restaurant. They have the best butter tarts we have had in Canada: with a shortbread cookie crust and a runny smooth center.

Very helpful and gave me a map and went through a few places to go to because it was my first time visiting. We got the cottage bunkie - cabin 8 which is a double bed. It is just enough room to walk around the bed to the bathroom. This is the basics, bed bar fridge a 12 inch tv and bathroom. They give you a bbq outside along with toilet paper soap and hand soap. There is also a fan which helps with circulation within the room. The sheets looked clean but we brought our own bedding. This is a self cleaning cottage so they expect you to leave it as you find it! I thought it was fine for sleeping, the bed was comfortable. No intentions to hang out in the room so the bare minimum did not bother us. The internet is slow but worked ok for surfing web. Not sure about speed for streaming vids tho - I would assume very slow. The location is very close to the main strip. The guy who checked us in said if we wanted any boat tours book right away! After unpacking we went across the street to buy our tickets to flowerpot island. Luckily we followed the concierges prompt to buy tickets early because the Saturday tickets were almost sold out and it was 3pm Friday! Next door there is a kayak rental shop! On the main strip there is an over priced grocery store (way to monopolize) At nights there are Mosquitos because the cabins are surrounded by trees. Don't go unarmed!! There is a no noise rule after 10am and check out is 10:30am. I would also recommend to the owners a vending machine for the site too! Again, much better than anticipated. Since I did not stay in the room other than sleeping, this place was perfect. I can see how some can get annoyed by noise as you can hear people talking even in the outside cabins but again. It is what you make of it! Would I stay here again though? Unsure

We stayed here in a cabin for 2 nights in August on our way across the country…read more I hate to write a bad review because the owner seemed very nice and hospitable however on our 30 day trip all over the country this was by far the worst stay we had. Now I realize this is cabin and not a luxury suite but there should still be some basic standards met. I have never in my life slept on such a terrible mattress. I was unable to sleep more than an hour at a time both nights and considered sleeping in my car as that would have been more comfortable. My husband and I could not sleep in the bed at the same time due to how saggy it was. On top of that was the very loud noise from the highway. The cabin is basically right on the roadside just with a fence between it and the road. Also the cabin seemed dirty and the dishes didn't look very clean. Aside from that the lake was pretty but couldn't make up for the lack of a decent bed. We have stayed in hotels, cabins, motels, and campgrounds for 30 days of this trip and sad to say this was the worst. Wish I could say differently.

Rogers chili was great and I have not doubt it could win awards in any chili cookoff. Boats, motors, mountain bikes and atv's are available.
