Owners Steve and Karen are warm and accommodating. The cabins are clean and kitchens equipped. Easy access for putting your boat in and out with their ramp. There is dock space for a week or over night stay. I've taken many sunrise and sunset pictures from the dock area and enjoy the view from the cabin. The location is convenient for grocery shopping, buying bait and the other stores on the Island.

But you can't see a sunrise or sunset. But still, it's nice to look out at. There's a boat dock for tiny two people fishing boats. There's no swimming. No pool. No beach access. The cabins smell so bring Febreeze. They have dishes and items you can use. Bring ice. They provide clean, comfortable beds and linens, towels, etc. You may need bug spray to get rid of ants. There's a picnic table and a grill. The owners are really nice. It's a good location along that bay, next to almost every other resort/cabin/motel like place. It is CASH only for the rental which is due upon checking in. Phone signal is spotty. Upgrade your cell service so that you are not charged for roaming-turn off roaming. Get unlimited text. The phone company will think you are in Canada. On the far east side, there's no signal. About $85 for a small cabin.

At Shaginapi your portals that keep you connected to social obligations and the daily grind are pretty much just used only when your forced to take a trip into town to stock your vintage fridge with dairy products (about 30 minutes away) Now I have to admit yes I would rather spend a few weeks with a little more tangible benefits. I mean lets be realistic, who doesn't enjoy a walking distant to the spa or a chilled tall drink with a fancy umbrella served by the "Beautiful People" But I also would like to believe that Nature is good for you, Right? I need not praise. It is beyond my capacity. Nature has got its own powers, strength, beauty and what not. The owners somehow kept this place unique. They keep it simplistic. They keep it pure.

We were in town for a family memorial service, and she was very patient and helpful despite some changes in our reservation. Really a lovely spot. The lake is right out your door and the hummingbirds came to greet us many times at the feeders. Highly recommended! The only reason why we didn't give five stars was that we dealt with quite a bit of flies during two days of our stay, though folks in town said that that was common for the area.

The new room was spacious, clean and with a window air conditioner unit that was quiet plus did not take up room space. I understand the resort had extremely limited availability. Yet they did make sure to address our needs by that evening. So I would like to update my review. The rooms are definitely below par. They are extremely small and outdated. The bathroom is unbelievably outdated and tiny. You hear the conversations of the rooms next to you along with all the noise in the hall. The rooms are far from the Main office. You are on the outskirts of Mackinac Island and must taxi to go anywhere. The Mission Point Resort is overpriced. You are paying resort prices for Motel 6 quality.

It is a bit of a trek over there from the ship crossings, but they handle the baggage, so you just need to walk down there. This is actually a resort, not just a hotel - but we didn't take advantage of a lot of that. I will say, it was a little trek between Main and Straight lodges for our group, since we had to be in Straights with the dogs, but otherwise we really enjoyed it. The pizza place in the main lodge was GREAT - really surprising. Staff was sooo nice to both us and our pups throughout our visit. Nice little store with ice cream and alcoholic drinks to supplement the ice cream. Seems a lot of reviews focused on the cost, which was high, but unfortunately that's just the market on this island. We really enjoyed our stay here - and it was a huge perk to be able to have our pups with us.
