He stayed with her the whole time making sure she was safe. I was impressed with how well he read the surf and kept her from the waves that were not suitable for a novice. He chose a board that was appropriate for my level and tailored the lesson to the conditions that day. I hadn't surfed in almost two years, so I was a little nervous getting back in the water, but he was very patient in helping me adjust and improve my technique. The lesson also helped me better understand the areas I need to work on most, especially paddling, board control, and some fundamental skills. I felt comfortable and supported throughout the lesson, and I definitely learned a lot. After the lesson, I also had some questions about how I should continue practicing, and Keenan took the time to give me thoughtful advice. I really appreciate his help and would definitely recommend Thalia Surf to anyone looking to learn surfing in Laguna Beach.

I spoke with SlyDog the next morning, and throughout the rest of the week they really took his time with him. He ended up loving everything about the experience once he felt safe. There are a decent number of instructors in the water watching and guiding, and they do an outstanding job with the kids, he was surfing by the end of the second day, and had an absolute blast. I highly recommend these guys! This year he wants to master surfing and we're signed up for several back-to-back weeks. Counting the seconds!

I visited this place on a beautiful Wednesday midday in February, and there were very few people there. It's a short walk from Diamond Street all the way down. There are stairs that provide you access to the beach. When we first got there, it was a little cloudy, and as the sun came out, the beach got even prettier. At the time I went, the beach was very clean and well-maintained. Since it's a smaller beach, there are no restrooms. It's really just a space to hang out and enjoy the waves while sitting on the sand. It was a super relaxing experience for me, and I can't wait to come back sometime.

If you're looking for a great outdoor workout with an amazing reward at the end, Thousand Steps…read moreBeach is one of my favorite spots in Laguna Beach! Despite the name, there definitely aren't 1,000 steps it's closer to about 250 but don't let that fool you. You'll still feel the burn on the way back up! I love bringing my kids here because they're soccer players, and running up and down the stairs is an excellent workout for building endurance and strength. I usually only make it up once because it's no joke! If you're looking for a free cardio workout with a beautiful ocean view, this is the place. The beach itself is gorgeous, with clear water, soft sand, and stunning cliffs surrounding it. It feels a little more secluded than some of the other Laguna beaches because you have to make the trek down the stairs. That's part of what makes it so special. I've visited several times around 6:00 AM, and it's always been peaceful. It's never felt crowded, although you'll definitely see other people getting their morning exercise on the stairs. I've also gone during summer evenings around 7:00 PM, and it's still a beautiful time to visit with cooler temperatures and incredible views. I still need to check it out around midday to see how busy it gets. A couple of things to keep in mind: there are no lifeguards on duty at all times, so be cautious if you're swimming, and the climb back up can be challenging, especially if you're carrying coolers or beach gear. Wear comfortable shoes for the stairs and bring plenty of water. Overall, this is one of my favorite beaches in Laguna Beach. Whether you're going for a workout, relaxing by the ocean, or enjoying the incredible scenery, Thousand Steps Beach is absolutely worth the climb.
